  • My husband and I along with my parents who were turning 60 stayed two nights in Advocates Close. We found the location and parking to be great; however, the amenities were subpar. The two beds should not be called beds, but more a futon since the mattress could not have been more than 2" thick. The entry lights were not working and missing lamp shades in the hall and first bedroom overhead light. The walls are in desperate need of painting, baseboards missing and the downstairs tub is rusty on the exterior. Overall, the location was great, but the lack of sleep was dreadful.

  • Great location, overall apartment nice with a few disappointing issues, these are as follows:-
    No plug in downstairs bathroom.
radiator in second bedroom intermittantly working.
Complaint of not much storage in same bedroom my friends slept in that room not myself so am passing on information.
Shower in downstairs bathroom attachment head not working kept slipping down again. This from my friends as my husband and I were in main bedroom.
    No tea towels.
I always give a true review when asked, so apologies if is not what you want to hear.

  • We had a wonderful stay with VieAmhor at Advocates' Close. The apartment was spacious and mostly well-appointed, and there were some really nice touches. They supplied a highchair and cot for the baby (though a sheet for the cot would have been useful), and even put up a Christmas tree and decorated it for us! We arranged a grocery delivery before we arrived, and they met the delivery person and put everything away for us.

It was very easy to contact the company when necessary (for example when the guests in the other apartment accidentally took our keys from the lockbox, someone from VieAmhor dropped off another set for us right away).

Only two criticisms: there's little storage for clothing (no drawers except the small ones in the nightstand, and hanging space in only one of the two bedrooms), and rather uncomfortable mattresses, thin and full of springs.

But overall it was a wonderful stay--good value, a location that couldn't possibly be improved upon, a really lovely apartment, and excellent service.

  • Location, location location and clean! This apartment could not be closer to the Royal Mile, walk out the door turn left and you're there. Victoria and Amanda could not have been more helpful. Many thanks guys - hopefully will use you again

  • Hotel service in a self-catering flat! The flat was clean, well-equipped, and the rooms are spacious and very well-insulated, which my southern California-bred family appreciated! Comfy beds and pillows and blackout shades allowed for a good sleep after long days touring around Edinburgh. Being a party of 4 women, we appreciated the extras like the blow dryer, bathroom toiletries and plenty of mirrors! There is a lot of care put into this flat. Amanda was quick to respond to emails, no matter the time of day. When we had an issue with the water, Amanda handled it to satisfaction immediately. We enjoyed the flat and location so much, we stayed an additional day! Needless to say, we would definitely stay here again. I also loved the super secret spy novel email instructions and manner of picking up the keys!!! :)

  • Thanks Amanda for making our trip easy and pleasant. The flat was pretty much right in the middle of Old Town and on the Royal Mile, very easy for you to get to most of the main tourist attraction in the City. The flat is complete with all your essentials, so once you get in the door, you're pretty much settled in. You might need to find your way to the kitchen and lounge downstairs because the flat is huge in size!! Tall ceiling, nice big window for the bedroom but surprisingly well insulated for you to duck out from the Scottish weather.

All in all, fantastic flat in a very central location. If you're not used to a lot of walking, this is a perfect spot as a base to see all the attractions.

  • Location is (website hidden) its on the Royal Mile and close to the action. Flat was clean and well equipped - we asked for some minor things and they were quickly delivered. Apartment had all the amenities - could have cooked meals there but we ate out all nights we were there. There was building going on next door but that wasnt too much distraction. Overall a very enjoyable experience

  • Stay in a street where all the tour guides bring their groups to tell stories. A modern super clean apartment in an historical setting.

  • The location is fabulous and sets you up for immediate exploration of the Royal Mile. You are staying in a historical location and it was fun to see people taking photos of the Advocates Close and knowing we were staying right there. The layout and design of the space was perfect for me and my parents. And it's nice being able to start the day with breakfast in your own place before heading out to explore and taking a break in your own living room before dinner. Highly recommend. Comfy duvets and light blocking shades too for easy, peaceful sleeping. There is some construction underway which in time may block some of the views, but don't be deterred as the location really couldn't be more perfect for hitting all the right destinations along the mile.

About
I live in Edinburgh and have a real passion for the city! My ideal Sunday starts with a walk with the dogs up Calton Hill, then to the Royal Mile for lunch and a walk round the old town followed by dinner and cocktails in the New Town! I do a lot of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and last year summited Mt Kilimanjaro.
