You Are Welcome !
Warm welcome even though we arrived very late. Room was clean and spacious. There was only a fan to keep us cool which wasn't quite enough at night. You share an apartment with three other rooms but it wasn't loud. Location was really good, you could walk or metro to all the major sites. The breakfast included may not be enough to keep you going all morning. We would definitely recommend this place for people on a budget.
Everything was ok. It was another room, but better - on 6th floor and with air condition. Good acommodation..good place...very good price.
Everyplaces for sightseeing avaliable walking on foot about 15 -25 minutes: Monastiraki, Akropol, Plaka, Omonia, Syntagma i Keramejkos. Thank you Miglen and Agnes
Let's start with positive: this accomodation is pretty cheap and a good value for money overall. Pretty clean, reasonably quiet, well organised. Not luxury, not charming, but what can you ask for at that price.
On the less positive, the experience was tainted by some issues with Wifi: I was there for a conference, and stayed in Athen for the week-end after. But, I needed to finish some work at night and on saturday. I was put on 6th floor of the building, and unfortunately, the wifi router is on 4th floor. The signal was desperatly low and transient. If I had wanted to only check quickly my email at night, overall, I could get it after a while. So, don't worry if that's your only need.
In my case, I did need to spend 1-2 hours working, and accessing remotely some resources at work: that broken wifi was hell! The only solution I foudn was to work sitting on the stairs in front of the 3rd floor appartment.
I'm sure Miglen will correct taht at some point, for instance by just putting a wifi router on each floor. In the meantime beware if you have similar needs and he did not correct it yet.
I kept on insisting on the issue, trying to find a corrections, a workaround, or at least an acknowledgment. What made it painful was that it soon appeared that Miglen saw my insistence as the only problem, ignoring (not considering that on the second day he could have moved me to one of the 3rd floor appt), denying ("if you need to work, you should not come here") or providing non-appropriate responses such as "the telecom company confirms the internet is good".
It's already difficult to have to spend time to work, but working in the dark in the stairs is harsh. And the feeling of being a pain compounds it.
On that matter, maybe Miglen will illustrate his management in the feedback he posted on my visit (which I can only see it when my review is posted): whether he finally decides to acknowledge the issue and announce he'll correct it for benefit of future visitors, or if he insists on trying to put the burden on me...
Dear Fabrice ,
Thank you for your stay here and for the time to leave this Review :)
The thing is that ... if you just told me with a similar long message or simply if you had mentioned that you want to work from your room, I could have settled in you in other room on the fourth or third floor. (But it could happen before your arrival) because the building is full of guests arrived before you and already housed there.
About the WIFI connection , on the sixth floor is not the strongest of the world and the fastest , But good enough for normal use for tourists .
As I said , if I only know that you need a quick and powerful Internet for work (I would recommend you to take -laptop not I - pad) . To work with good net here in Greece you need cable ( I can provide you with wonderful connection ) ... If I knew the purpose of your visit ...
It's nice to give some light to your future host when you have - special requirements So , they can be satisfied fast and with Good ending ;)
My stay was very pleasant in Athens, the place was easy to find and the room was as described. The place is set up like a hostel, which was different than I thought, but great all the same. The only thing I would say is that many people warned me about the area at night. I was fine - I never had any trouble and besides some comments, no one ever did anything to me. The place has security and you cannot enter the building without a key, but I would just send a small warning out there about the area. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I had lots of space and would suggest it to anyone considering.
A central place in Athens for low price. Good to spare but putting a few bucks for better is worth it in Athens ( esp. With AC). Nice staff though, noisy place.
The neighbourhood was great. It was easy to walk to Plaka and the subway station. I wouldn't recommend staying here in the summer, there is no air-conditioning and the room would sometimes get hotter than the outside temperature of 35 degrees. We left a day early because we couldn't stand the heat. It's definitely a discount hotel and I would suggest paying $5 more a night for a better place.
