Conveniently located in the heart of the city. Hakims communications were very quick.
Terrible experience. Avoid. Host is liar and may cost you $$$.
Unit: Smells like an ashtray. Poor cleaning - I stepped on a glass shard which cut my foot.
Overall: DO NOT RENT HERE.
When I arrived to the apartment, there was a small mixup with the keys. Hakim was very responsive, and got the situation resolved quickly. The apartment looks exactly as the photos, but with a bit more wear and tear than shown. The pros - the apartment has a comfortable sofa, nice laundry room with free modern washers and dryers (and free laundry soap, no fabric softeners unfortunately, you can buy some at a nearby dépanneur for $5), and a decent gym. Three or four block walk from the city center. On the flip side, the apartment is directly facing the street on the ground level, it's dark with insufficient lighting, and doesn't include any amenities except for toilet paper. If you are looking for low cost no-frills apartment near the city center, it's a good choice.
Never got to meet Hakim but everything was fine, the keys had been left with the doorman. Great flat with pool, gym, patio and large rooms. Well located. I'll could go back anytime.
This was a good experience - the host was very responsive and detail oriented - the place was as described for the most part - accommodations were good. I would recommend this place and host going forward insofar as you want to be in the downtown area and the price point is where you need it to be.
We didn't meet Hakim, but he sent us his assistants phone number. She was very responsive and helpful. We had no problem getting the keys and the parking pass. We stayed with a baby and the place was perfect for our little family weekend. The location is close to everything (shopping, restaurants, the park, and transit). The apartment could use a little updating (e.g. paint), but it was very clean and spacious. It could use a few more towels and dishes, but the basics were there. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Overall – Hakim’s apartment was good to stay at as it is in a good location. However, there are a few details that if you know up front, won’t come as a surprise and which will make your stay more enjoyable.
•Very close to metro & bus (5 minute walk)
•Walking distance to major attractions, such as the Bell Centre, McGill University & Mont Royal
•Close to shopping (Saint Catherine’s street) & Restaurants/Bars (Crescent street)
•The weekend doorman (Carlos) and the concierge were EXCEPTIONALLY friendly
•Apartment is what is in the picture; however, the pictures are very staged
•Few amenities in the apartment, such as only 2.5 rolls of toilet paper, 2 wine glasses (not matching), and nothing but salt & pepper in the kitchen.
•Apartment could use a few extras to make it more comfortable, such as a fresh coat of paint, a few lights to brighten it up, a tea towel in the kitchen, a proper comforter for the bed and a blanket on the couch.
•Exceptionally far from grocery store (25 – 30 minute walk)
•Was incorrectly advised by Hakim that the car service from the airport is not available, when in fact it was
•The apartment is NOT wheelchair accessible, despite being advertised as such (stairs to enter the building and very heavy doors with no automatic door opener)
•Hakim was very slow, and at times, did not respond to emails, causing frustration. He did, however, have the T.V repaired within 1 day of being advised it was not working.
•AC only gets turned on at the end of May, despite being advertised as a feature
