This is a wonderful place conveniently located in Old Town Lamu. Even on the hottest of days you could always catch a breeze up on the upper levels of the house. The house staff, Kahindi and Dixon, were always readily available and responsive when needed. I highly recommend Ka…

Andrew’s beautiful home in Lamu was such a joy to stay in. It was plenty of room for my 2 friends and me. We found ourselves opting to stay at the house to relax and enjoy it instead of going out around town, especially when it came to meals and Kahindi’s wonderful cooking! Kahi…

The flat is intriguing and exotic, but the real gem here is the housekeeper Kahindi, who provided invaluable tips and connections along with amazing food and service. There are three floors and one bedroom per floor. This can be great to provide space for multiple people visiti…

My wife and I are still talking about the charm of this house. It is utterly simple, a classic Swahili merchant house a few minutes walk from the shorefront, in a quiet area of town. It has been beautifully restored, is private, and is perfect for two couples, or a family. The st…

Response from Andrew:
Thanks so much for your kind message Gordon - we're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Maridhiya House and got a real taste of Lamu life. My first experience of East Africa was Zanzibar - and I was told 'if you like Zanzibar, you'll really love Lamu' - which was definitely true. I love the bustle of Zanzibar, but I don't think it can compete with the charm, intimacy and authenticity of Lamu. Please spread the word and come back and stay again.
