Other Things to Note
EARLY CHECK-INS: Early check-ins are welcome (particularly suited for early landing trans-Atlantic flights). For those making use of this please bear in mind that my previous nights guests do not normally check-out until around 11am. The early check-in allows you drop your luggage, get some hints and tips and to then head out to undertake some early sightseeing.
LATE CHECK-OUTS: Late Check-outs are never a problem. If a new guest arriving on the day you leave then you are welcome to leave your luggage in the front room, take the keys with you, and return at time that is suitable for you to make your onward journey.
PROFILE PIC: As an added security measure I also do not take bookings from guests who have no profile pic, or whose pic is of something that is obviously not them.
I run a relaxed and easy apartment, but as we are in an apartment complex there is a requirement that noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm.
We don't allow pets in the apartment. Smoking is also not allowed inside the apartment, although there is an open air balcony just outside the front door for those need one every now and then :-)
Other than these small things you can essentially treat this great space as your own home.
Dining table for meals made in the apartment which has full cooking facilities: electric cooker oven and microwave.
About the Host, Dave
I'm from Dublin, Ireland but have spent quite a bit of time in Kansas, USA and have travelled extensively since I was a teenager. As an experienced traveller I know what it is that is most precious to those who find themselves in foreign cultures; a clean and warm bed, a welcoming host, some insights into where the locals go to eat and drink. I have taken all these thoughts and combined them into an experience that I would love to have had in my own travels.
I am a founder member of the Dublin Host Ambassador Group for Airbnb. Our group advises them of improvements we feel will enhance the whole Airbnb experience and we also direct new hosts on the road to creating positive memorable guest interactions.
While I'm always pleased to meet people from any corner of the world, I have to admit that I have an immense fondness for Americans, this comes out of great experience I had living there when I was younger and for the huge amount of support and encouragement I received from some many Americans over so many years. I've not yet an American that I couldn't like!
I have also made many visits to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and enjoy interacting with guests from that neck of the woods. Please bear in mind though, that my German speaking skills extend to being able to order a beer and a donut :-)
I'm a photographer who runs his own photography school which allows me to travel around Ireland, Europe and the USA to shoot scenes that I like, many of these are on the walls of the apartment. If you're also a keen photographer then I look forward to talking cameras, techniques and creativity with you. If you're not then I still look forward to hearing your story!
