About This Listing
Whether you are travelling to Cologne for a trade fair at Koelnmesse, for a concert in Lanxess Arena, to visit the Christmas markets or simply to explore the city: Our bright, spacious, comfortable and central studio apartment offers an ideal base.
The apartment comfortably fits two colleagues, two couples, or a family with children. There are two double beds: One in the main room, and the other in a semi-separate alcove connected to the main room. (We do not call it a second bedroom because it does not have a door, but it does afford some privacy.) Upon request, we are happy to set up an additional camp bed in the main room.
Our guests enjoy the comfortable double beds with high quality mattresses (sized 140 cm x 200 cm and 160 cm x 200 cm respectively), cable TV, wireless internet, washing machine and cooking facilities. Fresh towels and bed sheets are provided for your convenience. If you are traveling with small children, we are happy to lend you a cot, pram, high chair, sleeping bag, toys, bibs, or whatever else you may need.
Interaction with Guests
We live in the same building and are always available should problems arise, or if you want sightseeing tips. We love languages and are happy to talk to you in English, German, French, Italian or Russian, but if you don't feel like chatting, we'll leave you in peace.
The neighborhood is friendly, pleasant and 100% safe. Playground, restaurants, bars, grocery shops, an organic supermarket and no less than seven bakeries are all within a 200 meter radius of the apartment. Within five minutes, you can walk down to the river Rhine, go skating on the promenade or just hang out and enjoy the view of the Cathedral, which is directly opposite. Within fifteen minutes, you can walk to the Rhine Park, which boasts an adventure playground, cable cars across the river, and a thermal spa (the "Claudiustherme") for the ultimate wellness experience.
Getting around could not be easier. "Deutz/Messe (Cologne)" station, about ten minutes walk from the apartment, has direct connections to all major airports. Regular direct trains from Cologne/Bonn airport take only twelve minutes and cost 3 Euros per person.
To get to the Koelnmesse trade fair exhibition center, you can either walk for 12-15 minutes, or hop onto metro line 3 or 4 and get off at the first stop.
To get to Lanxess Arena: just walk. You can see it from the apartment and will be there in five minutes.
The Cathedral, historic city center, Christmas Markets, and many museums are also reachable on foot, within around 20 minutes.
In case it rains or if you are tired, metro lines 1, 3, 4, 7 and 9 are just around the corner (within five minutes walk) and provide affordable transport to most destinations across the city.
Other Things to Note
The apartment is located on the top floor of a beautiful 19th century listed building with a lot of flair but no lift. You'll have to walk up the stairs if you want to enjoy the roof terrace with its sunbathing, citygazing and BBQ opportunities. (The apartment is on the fifth floor if counted the European way (where the ground floor does not count as a "floor"), or sixth floor if counted the American way (where the ground floor is the first floor.) Please note that there is no elevator.
Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask all guests to keep the noise down on the staircase. Also, please refrain from smoking inside the apartment, and always remember to close the slanted roof window before you leave.
Accolti come concordato via E-Mail, tutto risultato semplice quanto cortese.
We really enjoyed our stay at Helen's flat. It is a top-floor flat with a kitchenette, lovely open-plan living area, and a large balcony. We were two couples and we had plenty of space. Helen left lots of food for us in the cupboards and plenty towels for us in the bathroom. There is also a book-case full of great books and games. I would definitely recommend staying here!
One thing to bear in mind is that the flat is on the top floor and there is no lift. Our friend unfortunately broke his leg before our trip, so he found it difficult to climb the stairs! But this is a perfect place to stay for all able-bodied people! :-) We loved it, thank you Helen!
This is a very cosy rental apartment, ideally located for attending a Messe or exploring Cologne (easy to get on the 3/4 Tram or S-Bahn). A number of restaurants/Kneipen/stores nearby (Rewe, Denns and Netto).
Helen was a great host - very quick response time to all queries, and great to have eggs and milk in the fridge.
The apartment itself was very clean, and very well set up (nice to see tupperware, dish soap, towels, olive oil/vinegar/coffee/tea etc). The kitchen is small, so you will not be making fancy meals in here, but good enough for salad and an omelette or small stirfry etc. Balcony is great in the sun.
We had a wonderful stay at Helen's apartment during Art Cologne. It was a short walk or 1 stop on the tram away from the fair and In the evening it was best to relax on the terrace. Helen was super helpful and quick to reply with any questions. We'll be back!
