Your own flat located in Buenos Aires' oldest neighborhood, San Telmo. This is the preferred neighborhood for many of Argentina's writers, artists, actors, journalists, movie-makers and intellects. The main attraction is its historic, bohemian atmosphere and the feeling of being in a small European village.
"The enclave of the moment is San Telmo, a young, hip urban scene with a thriving arts community and a strong ex-pat community... The neighborhood is dotted with fine restaurants, bars, boutiques and colonial houses." - NY Times
From the large private terrace you will see plenty of sky and the immense size of this city. The flat is approximately 108 square meters (1162 square feet) located on the top floor of a historic building. It is in the middle of the block, away from the street noise (very important consideration for Buenos Aires if you want to sleep in!). The apartment is only four blocks away from the famous Plaza Dorrego where every Sunday afternoon tourists and locals visit the famous antique market and can enjoy tango shows performed by local dancers in the streets. There are an infinite number of excellent cafes, restaurants and pubs throughout the neighborhood at any time of day or night.
Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, Avenida 9 de Julio, Florida pedestrian street, fruit/vegetable and meat markets, Constitución, the subway and other public transportation are all within a few minutes walking distance.
The flat is partially remodeled and fully equipped for holiday stays. It has two levels, downstairs is a large living area (with a sofa bed) and dining room. The kitchen is separate, with a country feel, an antique gas stove and all the kitchen utensils needed to prepare a meal. In the kitchen you also have a washer and dryer. Between the kitchen and dining room is a large bathroom with original floor and English tiles. A cellular telephone is provided.
Upstairs is one main bedroom with a queen size bed and air conditioner. The second, smaller room has a large closet. The upstairs bathroom is new, with marble shower and new bath furniture.
All rooms have excellent lighting. Access to the terrace is from the upstairs, with private entrance, a great place to relax and enjoy the stars and city lights drinking your Argentine wine.

This apartment is well located in the heart of San Telmo. You can walk to everything. The neighbors are there to greet you and are very helpful. We were 4 adults. The upstairs bedroom was comfortable but the downstairs sofa-bed was uncomfortable. The stairs to the bedroom are very steep so not for everyone. The kitchen is minimally supplied but ok. In general it was a good experience.
We loved our stay in Juan's apartment in this old and a bit creaky (as he said) building in San Telmo. The apartment is huge and quiet, and we felt like we really lived in BA for a few days. The location in the heart of San Telmo is perfect. Upstairs bathroom is modern and works great. Kitchen is small and old-fashioned but I like the old-fashioned things, this and the old cage elevator. Best feature is the roof where we took our dinner several nights. Because the place is old, there might be little problems, but when the door handle to the roof broke, Juan's nice neighbor came in and fixed it. Juan is in the US but quick to respond.
Lovely apartment! We particularly appreciated:
1) Juan's responsiveness - all our messages and questions were responded to quickly.
2) The location - within the charming, historical neighbourhood of San Telmo - a short walking distance to all the sights, cafes, bars and restaurants in the neighbourhood as well as to Plaza de Mayo.
3) The neighbours - Noemi and Raul who look after the apartment and made sure we were comfortable.
4) The fantastic terrace - Good for sun bathing, romantic dinners watching the view/sunset etc.
5) Very spacious and airy apartment - large rooms and high ceilings!
6) The A/C in the bedroom... It was very hot when we visited BA!!
7) The fast broadband/wi-fi connection.
Keep in mind that San Telmo is an old neighbourhood (and a bit run down). The building this apartment is in, is no different. We found it very charming indeed and enjoyed the incredibly unique atmosphere and buzz, the old and stylish elevator, old-style cooker etc. but it may not be to everyone's taste. We definitely recommend it!!
A lovely apartment. Juan was very easy to work with and his neighbors were incredibly helpful. The apartment is well located in the San Telmo district and within walking distance to subways and right around the corner from the mercardo.
