Alder Brook Cabin is a small rustic lodge on the edge of the woods. It features a single room with attached screened porch, bunks for two, electric lights, a small fridge, coffee maker and WIFI. Enclosed outdoor hot and cold shower and marine style toilet are located twenty five feet away. The porch is a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a glass of wine or tumbler of scotch in the evening. Board games are available. There is a fire pit with benches outside for cozy evenings by the fireside and marshmallow toasting. Firewood is supplied.
This is "Glamping" at its best: almost camping but without the bugs and sleeping on the hard ground! Instead, be close to the outdoors but enjoy fresh flowers, pressed sheets, lush cotton bath linens, and the hottest, strongest shower you've had in years. What more could you ask?
We are ten miles outside of Burlington and four miles out of Essex Junction. Stowe and Ben and Jerry's are a forty minute drive. A multiplex theater, grocery and outlet stores, restaurants and mini golf are all found within a mile of the cabin. Parking is a few feet away onsite and we are on a limited bus route. (no weekend service)
This is a place for folks who want to "rough it" a bit but still maintain some creature comforts. We love it but it's not for everyone. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
This year the cabin has been completely redone inside to add a more camp-like feeling and to tighten up some annoying draughts in cooler weather. We hope this will provide an even more enjoyable experience for our guests. We hope you will visit soon and make Alder Brook Cabin your temporary "Home Away From Home!"
Our season ended on October 15th. We want to thank all of our wonderful lodgers who made 2013 an incredible season. We hope to see many (if not all) of you back next year. As always, we are available to take reservations all winter and will promptly respond to all inquiries. We hope you all have a wonderful winter!
Check in time is 4:00pm to 9:00pm only.
Cabin was very quaint and cozy. Bathroom stuff IS outside which is a challenge really only if it's raining:-/
Didn't speak with owners at all except when got there, which is fine it's just that the cabin was literally right behind their garage so makes me want converse at least some. I did like the place but hoped for something quiter
Loved the apple tree!
I would stay again but would be better prepared as far as able to cook food
The cabin is very nice, exactly as pictured, set in Sam and Fran's garden, which for us, was a little disappointing as we imagined it in the middle of a wood somewhere. Because of its setting there is a lot of traffic noise, but it was cheap and cheerful and provided a great base.
As we stayed in autumn it was quite cold at night, but the fire provided soon warmed the little place up and made it very cosy.
The outside shower is fantastic, very hot and high pressure, a real asset.
Sam and Fran's cabin was a great treat as we explored Vermont. Amazing views to enjoy coffee in the morning as enjoy nature. Sam was there to meet us and inform us of what we should look into. The bathroom was simple and easy and the cabin itself is beautifully constructed and decorated. A great treat for sure! They have chickens onsite that run everywhere...very entertaining!
We LOVED the outdoor shower. A perfect way to begin the day. The cabin which felt very private tended to get chilly at night but the heater did a great job warming us. The beds were comfy and the place clean and very conveniently located to Burlington as well as hiking trails in the area. The only difficulty we had was with the wireless which was spotty. Be sure to eat at Luenigs in Burlington. Everything there was beautifully prepared and delicious.
We loved this unique and beautiful spot!!!! Fantastic for those who are used to camping and want a spot of Glamping. Adorable accommodation with very comfortable bunk beds. Stayed here with my dad along the way if our month long trip. We indulged our photographic addiction in the gardens and forests around us. Fall colours on our doorstep. Friendly chickens greeted us evening and night
Love this place!! The outdoor shower and loo were our only small challenge but no problem for the camping crowd
Very well equipped and definitely worth the experience
Thanks Sam and Fran!!
Sam and Fran have a charming cabin that is perfect for those who don't require hotel-like accommodations. The cabin has every thing you need. Sam met us upon arrival and showed us around, explaining how to use the outdoor facilities.
The cabin was clean, quiet and private. We'd definitely stay again!
A very cute quaint guesthouse/cabin. The restroom/shower was just a few steps away. They had the cutest little chickens running around in the backyard. They were super friendly.
Sam put an oil radiator in the cabin before we arrived which was much appreciated (Thanks a lot!), as it was raining and 13 C degrees plus my hubby caught a cold in our previous place as there was no heating in the house... So it was a great surprise. The cabin is small for sure but it's really cozy with nice furniture and decoration. The outdoor shower and toilette is just a couple of steps outside the cabin, it's a great experience. Everything is close to this village. I'm a fond of the Ben&Jerry's company and it was on my bucket list to visit the little factory. Just fyi there is no hairdryer in the cabin so plan accordingly :( I did not know that.
Very cute and close to Burlington and The Shelburne Museum. The cabin feels quite private despite being right in the backyard. We would stay here again.
It's a beautiful little cabin, and you have the feeling of being somewhere in the wild, although it's just off the street. The outside shower was a cool experience, too. Sam and Fran are very friendly and I would definitely stay there again.
