Double bed in a pet and smoke free house with a shared bath is warm, cozy, quiet and one block to the bus line to downtown. In Fremont, a hip and interesting neighborhood to explore. Wi-fi, access to kitchen, laundry, computer and living room.
Small, windowless, dark, warm, quiet room with a fairly new Sealy mattress double bed, nothing fancy, but perfect for the traveler on the go. Roomy closet. Radiant heat floors. Pet-free. Wi-fi available. Smoke-free. Parking on the street never a problem. Ten-minute walk to downtown Fremont, one block to the bus. No private bath, but an additional bathroom upstairs, so never a line. The room, as described earlier, is very warm -- most sleep with the fan on especially in the summer. Towels, robes, water glasses provided. My husband and myself will make your stay comfortable.
We do require check-in by midnight.
My husband needs the shared bathroom on weekday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
Feel free to use the laundry facilities, kitchen and dining area and a downstairs "library" has a laptop and desk you are welcome to use.
One or both of us will be staying in the house while you are here, and we enjoy meeting guests. I operate a business next door (Crow's Wing Spa) and work there Tuesdays through Saturdays, and my husband's day job repairing lab equipment at medical facilities is Monday through Friday. On weekends Dennis makes KILLER expresso drinks if you happen to be ready for one when he's at the machine. We are minimally invasive, curious about you but definitely not nosy. Easy going would be a fair evaluation of our style as hosts.
Some don't-miss aspects of Fremont: Theo's, the nation's only bean-to-bar organic, free trade chocolate factory, call to reserve spots on an unforgettable tour. Lots of options for food including, Mexican, Thai, Indian, Japanese and more. Coffee shops of course, this is Seattle! We are one block from the ship canal with picnic benches. A new distillery with a tasting room just opened up. Very pedestrian friendly, Fremont will surprise the casual walker with a rocket, a statue of Lenin, a larger-than-life troll under the bridge, ivy dinosaurs and cement people waiting for a bus. And clowns dancing.
The bus stop with routes to downtown (about a 25 minute ride depending on the time of day) is one long block down the hill. If you have a specific destination and are wondering, check out (website hidden)
To get here from the airport you take a light rail (about 35 minutes) to downtown, then transfer to a bus.
Just so you won't be surprised or offended, I'm a Nichiren Buddhist and I chant out loud (at a conversational volume) in the living room in the morning and evening, but you are of course not required to restrict your activities or noise level in the least. The guest room is downstairs and the chanting is upstairs and won't generally be audible from there except possibly Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m., when friends occasionally join me to chant. Again, you can ignore me (or us) completely on terms of using the kitchen/dining area.
Kay and her husband are really lovely people. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. The bathroom was a special highlight for us. We would always back!
Kay and Dennis were such lovely hosts, Dennis made us the best cup of espresso in the morning! The place is super cosy and has a calm and relaxing vibe to it, and oh oh oh amazing bathroom!
Staying with Kay was a real pleasure. She is a kind, considerate and very responsive host that knows how to make her guests feel welcome. Also, her location is superb, putting you within minutes of the best that Fremont has to offer!
Kay and Dennis were both lovely. The house is warm and cozy the room was perfect for an overnight stay. Very quiet and a very comfy bed. Great location. I would definitely stay with Kay and Dennis again. Thank you so much! :)
I had such a nice time at Kay's place. Such a kind couple. I enjoyed using the cool shower and bath, had lovely fresh coffee in the morning and loved listening to the Buddhist chanting. Book it! :-)
The Greatest thing about this place is the location. A quick short walk to the Fremont district. Lots of neat restaurants and bars to get lost in all day and night. The 40 and 28 buss ar just 1 block away to take you all over Downtown Seattle. The house is wonderful for in and out staying. The morning expresso by your host is probably the best in Seattle. Beeing Seattle that says a lot!
Kay has a beautiful house and was a great host! Clean room, fresh towels/sheets, great part of town - exactly what we needed and she responded to our reservation request within the hour.
A++ would stay again. Thanks Kay!
Kay's hospitality and her home were a wonderful complement to my Seattle adventures. The location can't be beat in quirky Fremont, and Kay's home is both peaceful and beautifully appointed. Kay was kind and generous; her attention to detail goes a long way!
Kay and Dennis were both awesome! We had a great stay at their place. Their friends who visited their house for Friday night, game night were also fantastic!
Great location too, near so many restaurants, bars, attractions, etc.
Can't wait to go back!
We wanted to do a weekend escape in Seattle and contacted a few hours before we got there. She responded so quickly and the place was so nice. They were very welcoming and we were very lucky to have them as our host.
