About This Listing
Double bed in a pet and smoke free house with a shared bath is warm, cozy, quiet and one block to the bus line to downtown. In Fremont, a hip and interesting neighborhood to explore. Wi-fi, access to kitchen, laundry, computer and living room.
We require check-in by 10:00 p.m., then feel free to head back out. There is no curfew.
Small, windowless, dark, warm, quiet room with a fairly new Sealy mattress double bed, nothing fancy, but perfect for the traveler on the go. Roomy closet. Radiant heat floors. Pet-free. Wi-fi available. Smoke-free. Parking on the street never a problem. Ten-minute walk to downtown Fremont, one block to the bus. No private bath, but an additional bathroom upstairs, so never a line. The room, as described earlier, is very warm -- most sleep with the fan on especially in the summer. Towels, robes, water glasses provided. My husband and myself will make your stay comfortable.
My husband needs the shared bathroom on weekday mornings from 7:00 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
Feel free to use the laundry facilities, kitchen and dining area and a downstairs "library" has a laptop and desk you are welcome to use. Wifi is "Kay's guest network" and the password is: airbnbguest
Interaction with Guests
One or both of us will be staying in the house while you are here, and we enjoy meeting guests. I operate a business next door (Crow's Wing Spa) and work there Tuesdays through Saturdays, and my husband's day job repairing lab equipment at medical facilities is Monday through Friday. On weekends Dennis makes KILLER expresso drinks if you happen to be ready for one when he's at the machine. We are minimally invasive, curious about you but definitely not nosy. Easy going would be a fair evaluation of our style as hosts.
Some don't-miss aspects of Fremont: Theo's, the nation's only bean-to-bar organic, free trade chocolate factory, call to reserve spots on an unforgettable tour. Lots of options for food including, Mexican, Thai, Indian, Japanese and more. Coffee shops of course, this is Seattle! We are one block from the ship canal with picnic benches. A new distillery with a tasting room just opened up, and a very happening place with 32 hard ciders on tap. Very pedestrian friendly, Fremont will surprise the casual walker with a rocket, a statue of Lenin, a larger-than-life troll under the bridge, ivy dinosaurs and cement people waiting for a bus. And clowns dancing.
The bus stop with routes to downtown (about a 25 minute ride depending on the time of day) is one long block down the hill. If you have a specific destination and are wondering, check out (website hidden)
To get here from the airport you take a light rail (about 35 minutes) to downtown, then transfer to a bus.
Other Things to Note
Just so you won't be surprised or offended, I'm a Nichiren Buddhist and I chant out loud (at a conversational volume) in the living room in the morning and evening, but you are of course not required to restrict your activities or noise level in the least. The guest room is downstairs and the chanting is upstairs and won't generally be audible from there except possibly Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m., when friends occasionally join me to chant. Again, you can ignore me (or us) completely on terms of using the kitchen/dining area.
Please shower before soaking in the tub
Please enjoy your meals in the kitchen/dining area
Need to respect the recycle bins
Shoes off at the door
No smoking indoors or out
Check-in by 10:00 p.m. (no curfew once you've dropped off your stuff)
Our stay with Kay was wonderful! They were so welcoming and helpful. The room was just as described. Kay was even nice enough to lend a hat to me while we took in the Solstice parade! We highly recommend them!
Kay was a lovely host and her home is beautiful. The room is nice and dark to catch up on sleep. Unfortunately my trip was cut short, but Kay was very accommodating and even offered to mail home a ring I left behind.
Kay and her husband were very friendly and welcoming hosts. He even offered rain clothes when I mentioned I needed to buy some. The room doesn't have any windows as the pictures show, but it was great for a deep sleep. The bathroom is also spectacular. We'd stay again.
We've stayed twice now with Kay and Dennis and they're both a pleasure to see and catch up with! They are very easy going and so so generous in attitude and otherwise! It's a delight to stay with them!
I'm so glad I decided to stay with Kay! She was very welcoming and gave me helpful tips, directions, and recommendations. She even gave me some interesting reading material, too! The house is beautiful and very clean. You can tell that she takes very good care of the place. Overall, a relaxing place to stay in a great location with lovely people!
