About this listing
This cozy cottage along with two barns was once part of a a working farm. Hand-hewn original oak post and beam construction is exposed; it gives the cottage and its cathedral ceilings, a light drenched airy ambience. Equipped with a full kitchen, one gets the country rustic atmosphere without forfeiting modern conveniences. The reclaimed wood siding in the bedroom catches the early morning light reflections of the sunrise. Hand-crafted details abound, the cabinetry, hand-made glass, and photography add accents to the decor.
The bucolic surroundings are a great place for respite. One can relax in our perennial gardens or sit in the shade of the one hundred year old wooden barn amongst the hummingbirds and barn swallows. At night sit on our deck and enjoy a starry night or moon shadows without street-lighting to impede the night sky.

The cottage and the grounds. Entry into the barns is not permitted.
The cottage is really great! Exactly as pictured in the photos online. The kitchen is well appointed--I even baked a cake there. The setting of the house is amazing as well. Lisette was very welcoming and accommodated our somewhat last minute request to check in late by leaving the door open for us and the light on. We also enjoyed the recommendations on restaurants and discovered some great places based on those.
Had a great weekend stay at the farmstead cottage. Lisette was super communicative and accommodating, and the space itself was quiet and cozy. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to escape NYC for a few days.
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying during our anniversary weekend. The grounds are beautiful and as apartment dwellers we very much enjoyed spending time on the property. Reinhold and Lisette were responsive and kind and the cottage was modern, comfortable and had everything we needed. Reinhold's suggestion to go to Mohonk was well worth the admission fee and the view from Skytop tower was the best sight all weekend.
We had a great stay at Lisette's Cottage. It's very tidy and homey and looks just like the pictures. The area is very pretty and there are some cute hamlets nearby with cafe's and shops to explore.
Our stay at the Farmstead Cottage was incredibly relaxing and authentic, and unique. The place was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The best part was definitely sitting on the deck with a coffee in the morning. Not only is the cottage great, but the grounds with the two barns make this place absolutely beautiful.
Reinhold and Lisette are wonderful hosts, and the cottage is charming, comfortable and nicely appointed. The property and location are well situated and convenient to many great, neighboring towns. We very much enjoyed our stay.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Lisette and Reinhold's cottage. It's exactly how it appears in the photos, and is in a peaceful, bucolic setting--perfect for a weekend escape from NYC!
Lisette and Reinhold were super-responsive and gave us great restaurant and running trail recommendations. We'd love to return!
About the Host, Lisette
I have been lucky to have lived in many different places. Through my training as an architect, I learned to have a great respect for the natural and built environment. When I travel, I like to understand a place through the lens of the people living there and their history. So when I saw our barns for the first time, I fell in love with them immediately. The barns and the rural landscape surrounding them are really a part of our shared iconic heritage. Unfortunately, each year many more barns disappear. We have been slowly renovating the barns on our own. Come enjoy them and relax in our bucolic surroundings!
