Lovely flat that hosts upto three people in a beautiful gothic square in the Born Area.
The balcony overlooks one of Barcelona's most ancients squares. First populated in 1300. The building is post medieval, but the apartment is newly rebuilt preserving some of the original stone walls which makes the apartment unique and cosy.
It hosts three, two in the double bed and the third in a bed in the spacious living room.
The kitchen has all items necessary to cook and the market is two minutes away, for gourmet lovers this is a big plus.
Wooden floors to enjoy getting off your tired shoes and wander the house barefoot. You will find quietness in it to enjoy resting, cooking or watching the local tv channels.
It is a first floor by stairs, but a world apart from the concurred square, tranquility is guaranteed at home, but in a click you can be at the center of the action.
The location is unbeatable! you will be surrounded by famous barcelona restaurants like Mosquito, Mundial, L'economic, Tantarantana...and just a walk away from many boutiques of this chic Born quarter like Munich, Custo, La Comercial...the list is endless.
Being in the centre, you can go almost everywhere by foot in ten minutes or less.
Just two minutes walk to Museu Picasso, El Palau de la Musica, Museu d'Historia and many more.
The nearest metro stations are Jaume I (yellow line) and Arc de Triomf (red line).
The beach is ten minutes tops by foot.
I highly recommend this apartment in the cool Barri Gotic area of Barcelona. My daughter and I stayed for a long weekend in the Sant Agusti Vell apartment which we found to be comfortable and cozy. We were surprised to find wild parrots living in the trees that line the plaza! I have only good things to say about the apartment and our hostess, Maria, who was kind, professional, who did her research and knew I work online. (She had the internet key and password ready for me.) She had also prepared a folding bed for my daughter, although the over-sized sofa was really comfortable, not just for sleeping, but for lounging, too. We really felt at home. We would return here without hesitation.
Great apartment and even better location! Apartment is perfect for 2 people and with a small balcony looking over the litle plaza makes it a perfect location to enjoy Barcelona. Plus, there are dozens of wonderful places to eat and drink with in a couple of blocks including a lovely place right below the apartment. Wonderful host as well. Will recommend to all my friends. !Espectacular!
Great hosts, great location, everything was as described. Would recommend to people wanting to stay in the Born district.
I took this place from Candela after she had cancelled the 3 week booking I had made 3 months earlier. The cancellation was notified only as I arrived in Barcelona.
I was offered her Sant Agustí place as an alternative for 5 days until I could take the original studio I had booked.
I found this apartment to be in need of thorough cleaning. You have trouble seeing the dirt and dust as the place is extremely dark, this is not reflected in the adjusted photos, but I found everything I touched was coated with grime.
I returned home each evening having to negotiate the presence of at least 5 drunken men having loud conversations at the entrance. They would stay there most days until 2 in the morning.
Things certainly seem to have changed since the last reviews.
This apartment is certainly not advised if you are a woman traveling on your own.
Great apartment in a perfect location. Had everything we needed, including decent wine glasses, always a bonus. After a hard day 'at it' coming back and lying on the sofa, with the balcony door open, the sound of the square below and a glass of something cold from one of the many good wine shops nearby was a real treat.
Nearby would seriously recommend Borne's La Paradeta (7 mins walk) for seafood lovers. Informal, cheap and spanking fresh- you choose what you want from the fresh counter, say how you want it cooked, take a ticket and wait for your number to get called. Brilliant!((website hidden))
And the flamenco night in a medieval palace just down from the Picasso Museum on the right (Carrer Montcada, 5 mins walk). Incredibly emotive singing joined at times by an amazing dancer. Spectacular, yet informal setting. 20 Euro entry for 1 1/2 hour performance including a drink- the G&Ts are made using about quarter of a pint of pure gin!
apartment was in a great location within walking distance to most sites, restaurants & even a beautiful park.
Incredible flat with a exceptional decor, you feel spoil with an singular artistic environment, there is a soul to this place. The placa Sant Augusti VEL, is a oasis in the middle of a lost corner of old Barcelona, that just having a drink on the little balcony observing daily activities of the ongoing city life is a treat. Having the bedroom in the back guarantees a peaceful sleep from the reputation of La Vida Loca de Barcelona!
With walking distance of everything, just be careful when taking a cab and stipulate OLD Sant Augusti with no hotels...
We felt very safe, however Barcelona is Barcelona! Obey safety instructions from Candela ... ;-))) Who by the way, is a wonderful hostess.
My mother and I stayed at Maria and Candela's beautiful apartment, perfectly located for us to walk to all the sights. The neighborhood was ideal for us with its interesting, small streets that were filled with boutiques and good restaurants. Not only was Maria a great host, but also offered several amazing recommendations on where to eat. That was a definite added bonus! Thank you Maria!
we had a wonderful time in barcelona and enjoyed relaxing in the apartment very much. candela welcomed us, gave a few tips for the area and was very flexible for check-out hours. the flat is cosy and comfortable, big enough for three people with everything you might need and in a lovely area with a cute balcony right above a pretty square. the area was not too packed and touristy but still lively and very central. thanks so much for making this experience possible with your apartment, candela and maria!
Candela was an amazing host. The apartment was beautiful on a beautiful square. The living room was so welcoming (when we were actually there), and the bed was extremely comfortable (when we were actually asleep). The location could not be better. It is a couple minutes on foot away from all of the restaurants, bars, shops, and crowds in El Ribera (El Born), so it is much more quiet. During the day there is a great cafe and restaurant open on the square that has delicious fish and chicken dishes.
El Ribera is a short walk from the gothic district and the beach. Basically, everything you would want while on vacation in Barcelona. And the neighborhood has some of the best restaurants in the city.
You could not stay in a better apartment in a better neighborhood with a better host.
