  • Wonderful stay in Istanbul. Apartment was located in a perfect part of town, which was within 5 minutes from galata tower, galata bridge, and iskytal street. Amazing view of the Bosporus, old town, and the Anatolian bank. Umut was a wonderful host and was very responsive if we had any questions. Apartment is very simple as stated, but provided a great home base. We had a flight at 7am and Umut arranged pickup. I recommend you grab a beer with him as well for an enlightening chat.

  • Umut was a great host. The flat had all we needed and was in a good location close to shop/restaurant and galata tower and not far from the tram either or karakoye bridge. Umut lives in the same building which was really good to exchange information. We had a great and will come back. I recommend this place.

  • Umut was a wonderful and helpful host, and his top-floor apartment is located in a great part of town. Wonderful views of the Bosphorus, Old Istanbul, and Galata Tower (his pictures are accurate). The apartment is small and clean, the only negatives being ceiling stains from apparent roof leaks in the past. Be warned: it is a walk-up apartment, 6 flights of steps, and the neighboring streets are hilly, so get your exercise in; if walking is an issue for you, this apartment is not your best option.

Multiple small cafes & grocery stores are within 1 block; shopping within 2 blocks, of both tourist and modern Istanbul boutiques. 5-10 minute walk to Istiklal Avenue, Galata Bridge, Karaköy docks, and Karaköy tram station. EXCELLENT location for visitors, without being in the thick of tourist-centric Fatih district (Old Istanbul).

  • we had a easy stay in the appartment of umut, it is very well located, with old and new istanbul within walking distance, the neighborhood has a nice mix of local and urban atmosphere, the apparment itself is simple indeed but the view is really good; although umut was very occupied he did make some time for us

  • We, 4 friends from Germany and France, stayed a week at Umuts place in July. Thanks to Umut we had a wonderful time in Magic Istanbul! Umut is a great person and we appreciated spending time with him and his girlfriend, discussing and drinking beers together.
He is a caring host and does everything for the well-being of his guests.
The flat is exactly as in the description, simple and clean. As it is on the top floor the view is just breathtaking. Even in July at night it was not too hot in the flat as there is a fan and always a gentle breeze.
We would definitely book the flat again when we come back to Istanbul.

  • Umut was a fantastic host. Full of excellent recommendations and great info - warm, welcoming, and friendly. The apartment is nice, exactly as described and depicted in the photos, with a really OUTSTANDING location in a cool, hip, up-and-coming neighborhood full of great bars, restaurants, and cafes. By far, though, my favorite activity here was just coming home and flinging the windows open to stare at that crazy view, with the Bosphorus stretching out at your feet. Yes, as others have noted, be ready for the call to prayer to sound right outside the window, and there are a lot of stairs, but that just helps work off some of the heaps of food you'll be eating while in Istanbul. Next time I need a place to stay in Istanbul, Umut's apartment will be the first place I look. Thanks for everything!

  • Umut was a great host. He was a great resource for information, which helped tremendously for our visit. The apartment was well-furnished and we had everything we needed. The location was absolutely perfect and is the real selling point of this place. It's just down the street from Galata tower, and you can access the rest of Istanbul easily with public transportation.

  • Umut really worked with us through our issues with sim cards in Turkey and went out of his way during work just to give us the keys to the place. Him and his lady are right across the hall in the apartment building so all the question we ever had were answered right away, such as us not knowing how to turn heat and hot water on or finding good places to go out to. He seemed to know all the nice corners of the city.
The place is really sweet. Comfortable, lovely bedrooms, with everything we needed. The kitchen is compact, but the three of us had dinner there and it worked out.
The bathrooms in Turkey and some other countries we have visited in the middle east dont separate the shower from the sink or the toilet, so the water get everywhere. Cover the crack under the door with something not to soak the hallways! we learned the hard way, but managed by the time we got to Istanbul.
The neighborhood is very lovely. Few people spoke english outside but really did everything they could to communicate and help us. One man even invited my friend into his studio for tea while she was waiting for me in the snow to get the key. The neighborhood is close to everything, and is not in the middle of touristy part of Galata, about 5 blocks away.
I would love to stay there again next time!

  • Our stay at Umut's apartment went without a hitch. The apartment was as advertised - simple, clean and with a great view! Umut went out of his way to meet me when I arrived earlier than expected. The neighborhood blends both old and new and is an ideal location for seeing the city.
