This is a private room with a queen bed in the East Village in downtown Manhattan. An awesome location for exploring the city, visiting NYC best restaurants and seeing how NY'ers live.

Best for budget travelers and backpackers who do not need luxuries, just a place to sleep and keep things. It is in a three bedroom BASEMENT apartment with shared bathroom & kitchen. At the moment, two of the three rooms are travelers.

Ask me any questions you may have and read some of the reviews. If you have stayed in hostels in other countries it is similar to this. The apartment renovations are old and a bit run-down. For the right type of travelers this a great place to explore the the city from.

The Neighborhood

Enjoy great food, music, unique shops, night-life and a relaxed vibe in the East Village. Located just two blocks from Tompkins Square Park. The East River Park is close by and has jogger/bikers' path and a beautiful skyline of the city night and day.

Getting around

There is a bus stop and Citi Bike station right around the corner. Five different subway stations in the neighborhood. Within 15-25 minutes you can walk to Soho, Union Square, Greenwich Village, and LES, Chinatown/Little Italy/Nolita.

Other Things to Note

Be flexible. Generally between 10am-10pm. We will coordinate around both of our schedules. If you arrive the day a guest is leaving you may need to wait until the evening for the room to be ready.

Quiet Hours: 10pm-10am

Please be respectful of other people in the apartment. Most travelers are out all day and only sleep at the apartment, but others have work to do in the city.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • I've been to NYC a few times over the past decade but this last visit was the most enjoyable so far. A lot of our joy was because of our lodgings... a few key words: affordable, spartan, clean, other friendly bnb guests, accessible, warm (during cold days), quiet.

Next time I'm in NYC and want to stay in Alphabet City, I'm going to seek this place out again.

  • Very centrally located, right in the East Village. Good room to go and explore the city (walking distance to many interesting sights). The room itself has no windows and can get warm because of heating pipes running through (located in the basement), but does have airconditioning. Good value for money in this area of NY!

  • My friend Jen and I had a great experience staying at the room provided by Edward and Dennis. Both hosts were very friendly, gracious, and helpful in accommodating to our needs. The room was very clean, perfect location, and satisfactory. Thank you so much for the hospitality! :)

  • My stay at Edward's place was perfect. The location is perfect, the price is very afordable and even if you are not in the lap of luxury it is everything you need once in NY. The location is a great advantage, the kitchen has everything necessary and most of all it is clean.

Both Edward and Dennis also make things really easy when help is needed. They are very friendly and I have to say that I felt like in home with them around.

I would definitively recommend it and I am looking forward to going back.

  • Edward was a very welcoming and caring person , he always checked if I needed anything and always offered his help and answered all my questions that made my stay at his place awesome ,he even offered me to stay extra hours without any charge , I am thankful for that

  • Edward, the location, and the bed were all fantastic and I would undoubtedly stay here next time in NYC. And seriously, the bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on! Edward is a knowledgeable, warm and welcoming host, and his quiet, cozy place is situated in one of the best neighborhoods in NYC: the LES.

  • Great host and great location! unbeatable price

    January 2014
  • My friend and I came to the city for New Year's and we found the room perfect for our stay. Edward actually left town soon after we arrived but made sure to be in contact for any questions or concerns. Definitely no luxury hotel room, but it's perfect if just needing a place to sleep, clean up, and keep your belongings. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were clean. This was also a great location. It was a safe part of town and about a five minute walk to the nearest metro station. There was also a great selection of restaurants, bars, and markets all within a few blocks.
