The space

Do you love dolphins? A mile and a half from Dragonfly Ranch you can drive down to swim and snorkel within some world class driving conditions. To top off your dolphin experience The dolphin decor in our room is charming. Many people like the private entrance and private outdoor toilet, sink and shower area, which is screened in with bamboo.

On the same level as the Dragonfly Room, separated by a bathroom, the Dolphin Room is contiguous to the living room with a sound-proofed wall and king sized bed. Therefore these rooms can connect for two couples.

Sounds from the road, which has very few cars at night, is less in this room than any other space.

A note for late sleepers: breakfast sounds can be heard in the kitchen early in the morning 6am - 9pm.

It was a beautiful place....absolutely gorgeous setting. The outdoor yoga studio is stunning, with an amazing view of the ocean over tree tops. We didn't stay in the dolphin room, even though the room was shown as available on Airbnb. There were other rooms available, however, for a higher price, and we received a discount for booking one of their other rooms. My son loved playing with all of the pets on the property, and the staff was lovely.

The welcome was very low key, but we had no difficulty getting into our room. The entire place is a bit "funky" and "quirky" but it has a calm environment. The breakfast was a healthy mix of fruits, home-baked bread, brown rice, yoghurt, and other treats. The large balcony was very comfortable with a beautiful view down the hill of the ocean coast. The outdoor shower/bathroom was quite functional but the water temperature of the shower was hard to adjust.

Barbara was a great host. The suite was perfect for relaxation. The outside shower was wonderful after swimming in the ocean at Honaunau. The breakfasts are amazing, good for a vegetarian or a regular diet. Waffles, pancakes, oatmeal. Everyday something special. And every day fresh fruits.

Very nice place with a very welcoming vibe. We were most comfortable there and enjoyed all the people we met. Though we had an agenda of our own and did not participate, there were many activities available (like group dinners and classes) that we would like to join when we return some day.

Barbara is a wonderful, welcoming and inspirational host! I felt immediately at home and I loved how the guests and staff all just spend time talking, doing yoga, walking the gardens and sharing meals together. So much positive energy in this place! I would love to come back and already miss it!

The Dragonfly Ranch isn't your normal AirBnB kind of place. It's a real bed and breakfast, with charming, quirky rooms in a beautiful Robinson Crusoe-style structure with an absolutely amazing location (right next to awesome snorkling at Two Step!!), a delicious healthy breakfast, snuggly cats/a puppy, and tons of interesting characters to chat with. We had booking issues that required a few calls back and forth. We were just staying there for one night, so all the prep work got a little frustrating. If we'd stayed longer, the beautiful/charming set up would have definitely been worth the booking hassle. Once you book through airbnb, make sure you talk to Barbara and confirm logistics (dates/room/etc) to make sure everything is straight. A few things to note: heed their warnings about no food in the rooms. The ants will find your leftovers! Check the toilet for geckos! Plan some down time to chill out on the lanai in the hammock. Be prepared for a "groovy" experience--it's a healing center with open-air massages, chimes, and self-help books. If you plan on staying out late, be sure to bring a flashlight--it's unlighted and difficult to navigate from the small parking lot to your room without a light. Make sure you go check out the spinnerette dolphins early in the morning while you're there!
