About this listing
You couldn't get closer to town or beach ! With one bedroom and bathroom on the first floor and another bedroom and bathroom on the second floor privacy is assured for 2 couples sharing. Modern, with outside balcony, use of pool and courtyard.
Yep... all you need is to be able to walk for 3 minutes and you can find yourself either on Four Mile Beach or in the heart of Port Douglas.
The town house is one of 8 houses in a small development. The property is on two floors with the master bedroom and ensuite bathroom on the ground floor and the other bedroom and main bathroom on the first floor with the living area, which is great for privacy.
The upstairs double bedroom is next to the main bathroom (with hair dryer and Instyler).
The master bedroom downstairs (with queen size bed) comes with modern ensuite bathroom (including hair dryer and other styling tools) that leads out to a courtyard where there are lounge chairs and coffee table for you to relax in surrounded by the small tropical courtyard. It has its own small fridge where you can store your own food, beers or wine and there is also a kettle for you to make your own tea or coffee in your own room and a microwave and toaster.
The modern kitchen comes with an electric hob, coffee perculator and Nutri Ninja, blender, toaster and microwave.
The living area has polished wooden floors that lead to a balcony that has table and chairs that you can sit outside and soak up the tropical atmosphere.
On the balcony there is also a BBQ so you can enjoy a true Aussie experience.
There are few mosquitoes and one can comfortably sit outside without being bothered.
Being the closest point to the Barrier Reef there are many dive operations for those who want to dive. If you want any information on what to do or who to go with I would be happy to provide any advice.
It is 10 minute drive away from the Daintree Rainforest, one of the oldest forests in the world. There are a host of activities for people wanting to experience adventure on land and off land! I am easy going and have lived all around the world with a wide variety of room mates.
There is an outside laundry area with washing machine and dryer (though laundry in Port Douglas usually dries within hours!).
There is a car port under the house if you have a rental car and the house has a communal pool to keep cool in! There is free parking on the road also (please advise if you wish to use the parking space)
There is wifi internet .
Just a note to say that this is my home and as such there are some personal items stored in the house (food in cupboards) and some clothes and bags in the main wardrobe) and in boxes outside. You are welcome to use the food in the cupboards (oil, butter, condiments, spices etc). The house is not big, but there are a set of drawers and hanging areas for clothes in both bedrooms and drawers.
The house is literally two blocks from the beach and two blocks from the main high street. It's also only a 5 minute walk from the Marina where all the boats leave for the Barrier Reef. Once at home you will have everything nearby and at your fingertips!
Interaction with Guests
I am usually around in Port Douglas in your rental period though I am away from 8-30 August in Europe. But can be contacted by phone and internet. If you do have a problem please do contact me. From past experience, many can be easily solved and you can continue to enjoy your stay.
If you wish to get around there is a local bus that picks up outside and can take you to the Capt Cook Highway turnoff for $5 (approx. 3 miles). Private bus companies organise tours and trips. There is an electrical bike hire, car hire, motorbike hire places within 2 mins walk away.
Other Things to Note
At present I have limited access to the hot water. As such, the water needs to be turned on at the hot water tank before use and then turned off after use (15 mins) to avoid leakage. I will be organising plumbing.. but it is a major upheaval and I choose to honour existing bookings rather than cancelling.
If you smoke.. just smoke outside that's fine.
We really enjoyed the time in Port Douglas very much! Rosies house is perfectely located in a central but quite area. There is a Pool available for guests but we have not seen anyone using it during our stay. We went to the Beach, which is only 5 walking minutes away.
We very much thank Rosie for fixing the valve problems before our arrival. However, the plumper left a bit to much dirt in Front of the house and also the lower Level room was a bit dusty. We believe very much that this was an exception and can possibly be explained by the fact that Rosie was in Europe before we arrived and could not manage the cleaning herself.
Anyway, we can recommend this nicely decorated accomodation.

Great location, only a short walk from the Main Street and beach. We were let down by the plumbing issues. We were advised prior to our trip that the issue was minor and we would have up to 15 minutes max of continuous hot water before the bottom bathroom started leaking. This was quite misleading as the hot water lasted 4 minutes before flooding the bottom bathroom completely (had to take videos). I only got 1 hot shower in 6 days - other guests weren't even that lucky. Beside that major hiccup - not too bad of a stay.
The plumbing issue has now been rectified and all the house has now been replumbed. I had tested the downstairs shower and it did give me 15 minutes of water before the leak appeared - but not the upstairs shower. I thank you for your patience in the situation and hope that it didn't mar your stay too much.
We had booked for 9 nights and endured our stay for 4, then promptly moved out. The accomm was sub-standard, to say the least. The place was dirty, bedrooms unhealthy (stupid idea to look under/around the beds.... eeek, horror!). 'Quirky' is an understatement. Water seeps out onto the bathroom floor WITHIN a minute!!!!!!!! This was a major pain! The entire shower head fell off, so you're left stranded while water is puddling all over the floor. Some of the dishes in kitchen were dirty, the d/stairs courtyard is hardly inviting, washing machine lid falls off, etc. The carport/entrance is uninviting and a mess. Pool area is tiny and right beside road. We didn't go there. Positives: Rosie refunded our payment immediately; appt is close to everything and ok if you don't mind busy road. Port Douglas is a very cool area!
The water issue has now been fixed and the shower being loose. I have reprimanded the cleaners about cleaning thoroughly and that includes under the beds, apart from that the apartment is fully cleaned before each guest. I do mention that I do store items in the car port area in the description, it's not ideal but is purely an aesthetic problem. The pool area is per the photo - it is not a large pool, but enough for a dip and a laze. I don't understand why the courtyard isn't inviting. It tends to be shaded and is small - I have sprayed the tiles to stop the moss build up, so I hope that that has improved the look. Washing machine lid I will be researching a replacement or solution, but since it doesn't impact the functionality of the machine - just a bother I haven't given this a major priority. Moving forward, I thank you for your comments and a chance for me to rectify these for future guests.
Rosie was very easy and upfront to deal with. Location and apartment were great.
Stayed for six nights with my partner and my parents at Rosie's place and had a great time. Bed were comfy, kitchen was well stocked and nice to have two bathrooms as well. Only negative was that the hot water was leaking so we had to use the hot water sparingly, but we got used to that after a while. Great location too, close to beach and shops, but still fairly quiet too.

I am a professional diver and have worked since 2002 all round the world - Thailand (Phi Phi), Honduras (Utila), Antigua, Grand Cayman, Malta, LA, Costa Rica. I have dived all over the world, but still have my 'wish list'.
I did work for a few years in Sydney back in my 'office' job in Marketing and New Product Development for Cosmetics.
I have my own artworks range (check out (website hidden)) and natural health products , Nature Says No (check out (website hidden)).
I am easy going and having backpacked round Asia and Central America, would say that I love meeting new people.
Life Motto: Grass is always Greener - just depends where you water it!
Very easy going with anybody staying - but draw the line at DIY Graffiti or the new stucco effect wall finish with diced carrots after too much alcohol from the night before!
