  • Very nice place with a very welcoming vibe. We were most comfortable there and enjoyed all the people we met. Though we had an agenda of our own and did not participate, there were many activities available (like group dinners and classes) that we would like to join when we return some day.

  • We had a really great time at Dragonfly Ranch - the staff was wonderful and the property was beautiful. We especially liked fresh fruit, bread, and coffee for breakfast and hanging out on the lanai reading (in a hammock!). The room smelled a bit musty/odd, but otherwise was fine.

  • The honeymoon suite is placed in a jungle canopy of mirrors, screens and tropical foliage that creates an edenic dream state during your stay The outdoor shower is surprisingly luxurious- the entire layout of the room immerses you in nature while protecting you from the elements. The bed- amazing in itself- needs a mast- it made me feel like marco polo as if I could set sail from it. My girlfriend thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts in the common area with its full buffet of organic nuts and oatmeals, exotic fruit jellies, freshly baked breads and the interesting conversation from the cast of eccentric and friendly characters staying and working at the ranch. We would definitely stay there again when on the Big Island.

  • Barbara is a wonderful, welcoming and inspirational host! I felt immediately at home and I loved how the guests and staff all just spend time talking, doing yoga, walking the gardens and sharing meals together. So much positive energy in this place! I would love to come back and already miss it!

  • Wonderful four days at the Dragonfly ranch. Highly recommended location for anyone willing to experience Hawaii in a very relaxed yet involving tune. Not only the ranch itself is "inspiring", to say the least, the warmth provided by the hosts and their guest is an added value difficult to match. Definitely looking forward coming back next time I'll be in the Big Island

  • The Dragonfly Ranch isn't your normal AirBnB kind of place. It's a real bed and breakfast, with charming, quirky rooms in a beautiful Robinson Crusoe-style structure with an absolutely amazing location (right next to awesome snorkling at Two Step!!), a delicious healthy breakfast, snuggly cats/a puppy, and tons of interesting characters to chat with.
We had booking issues that required a few calls back and forth. We were just staying there for one night, so all the prep work got a little frustrating. If we'd stayed longer, the beautiful/charming set up would have definitely been worth the booking hassle. Once you book through airbnb, make sure you talk to Barbara and confirm logistics (dates/room/etc) to make sure everything is straight.
A few things to note: heed their warnings about no food in the rooms. The ants will find your leftovers! Check the toilet for geckos! Plan some down time to chill out on the lanai in the hammock. Be prepared for a "groovy" experience--it's a healing center with open-air massages, chimes, and self-help books. If you plan on staying out late, be sure to bring a flashlight--it's unlighted and difficult to navigate from the small parking lot to your room without a light. Make sure you go check out the spinnerette dolphins early in the morning while you're there!
