Located in the desirable Centro District, just minutes away from the hub of activity, but located away from street noise, this comfortable one bedroom apartment serves as a great pied-a-terre for a weekend or a home-away-from home for a longer visit.
Casita Treetops is a getaway nestled in the tree tops overlooking the beautiful colonial city of San Miguel de Allende. Just a short 7 minute walk to the city hub at the Jardin with coffee & restaurants seemingly every few doorways on the way. Enjoy morning coffee or sunset watching from your own private balcony. Away and above the street, so you can enjoy relative quiet. This 1 bedroom cozy casita is reserved exclusively for your use and has an open floor plan giving a feeling of spaciousness and light. Twin colorful sofas flank the french window overlooking the small terraced garden and patio areas. The round leather table and chairs in the dining area are perfect for casual dining, and the shining Mexican tile work kitchen contains all you'll need during your stay - small appliances, toaster, microwave, coffee pot, dishes and glassware for up to 6 guests, cooking utensils, etc.
The comfortable King-sized bedroom (which can also be set up as two twin beds) has down comforters and ample pillows and bedding. There is an additional bed for one that can be made up in the living room. The bedroom has basic service Cable TV, CD player and DVD with a modest DVD, CD and print library for your enjoyment. Internet connection for your laptop is also provided. The adjoining bath has both shower and tub, great for relaxing after a day's sightseeing, shopping, language or art studies. Access to the adjacent covered swimming poo and wWorkout sessions at the gym each available for modest fees. Your own washer/dryer in the unit. Professional rental manager available to assist you with your arrival, departure and any needs during your stay. Easy and inexpensive (between $3 and $4 USD per ride!) taxi service available 24/7 but also a parking pad in front of your door on private driveway, should you elect to rent a car or have visitors who drive.
Exterior entry staircase of 10 steps or so, but interior is all on one level.
While I have never been concerned about safety, there is a 24/7 watchman at the gate to manage traffic, to direct delivery services and to identify visitors; the pedestrian gate that is closest to the apartment and the center of town requires a key, which is provided to you.
As an apartment rental, breakfast is NOT included. However, you have a kitchen with the usual appliances and there are a couple of lovely bakeries and markets just a 10 minute walk away from which you can gather provisions, not to mention several nearby restaurants and cafes that serve a variety of breakfasts and other meals.
The entire apartment, the outside areas and the parking space in front of the apartment are at your exclusive disposition along with shared use of the covered swimming pool according to pool rules. Two free passes for pool and gym, but 3rd member of your party or any other guest required to pay a modest fee for such use. Check with pool staff for prices and options. Driving directions provided shortly before your arrival date. Shared and private van/taxi service to and from airports at Leon and Queretaro take about 60-90 minutes, depending on the circumstances of your travel. Taxis to your home away from home from the San Miguel bus depot may take about 15 minutes or so, depending on traffic, with a base cost of $4.00 USD, more or less, as of 2014 date when this entry is made.
Interaction with Guests
As owner, I interact through the visitor handbook at the apartment and through my local manager, who will meet guests upon arrival and arrange to retrieve keys upon departure, as well as remaining available to assist with resolution of problems, should any arise during your stay. Please let Yoko know of your arrival time and manner no less than 3 days in advance of your arrival date.
The apartment is located within a short walk of the jardin, which is the central plaza in the downtown area. If one does not want to walk for whatever reasons, inexpensive taxis are readily available. Everything one needs is located within a reasonable distance. Being on a hill and located away from the public street, the house enjoys city views and breezes while being protected from unreasonable noise. There is a "short cut" to the street down a steep staircase to the lower, pedestrian gate or there is a mostly flat walk along the wide private driveway to the supervised, upper gate. The latter route may add 10 minutes to your walk into Centro.
San Miguel is a walking town that encourages discovery, exploration and savoring of the wide variety of shops, cafes and points of interest. However, public transportation is readily available, when desired. There are a variety of bus routes, one of which runs on the Salida de Queretaro (first cross street below the apartment complex) and goes up to the shopping mall and the Tuesday Market as well as into town and beyond. Taxis are everywhere and cost about $3 or $5 per ride depending on day/night, distance and whether or not there may be a price increase after this note is entered in 2015.
Other Things to Note
Wi-fi is available at the house. However, visitors should understand that the service is occasionally unreliable and it can take a day or two to get repairs accomplished. There are several places to access wi-fi at internet service points and cafes, including the Starbucks located at the jardin.
Minimum 4 night stay at all times of the year. No smoking. No pets. Have fun while respecting your neighbors. Modest fee for swimming pool access and another for use of exercise equipment arranged with clubhouse staff. A deposit will be required, the amount depending on the length of stay. Please provide your estimated arrival time as soon as you can along with a cell phone number, if you have one with you, so my local manager can more easily contact you about meeting you with a key at the apartment.
We really enjoyed our stay at Julie's place. The apartment was all that we hoped for and more. It was clean, very well maintained, and beautiful. Yoko, the property manager, was really nice and helpful.
The place is a about a 15-20 minute walk from the town square. If you dont feel like walking, Cabs are always around and they never charged us more than 2-3 dollars. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again in the future.

Julie´s house is quiet, relax and really cozy. We loved staying there and the location was amazing: close enough to downtown but with the proper distance to relax.
It was an incredible Trip!

This was such a great apartment to stay in. It was very comfortable. The building is very beautiful and nestled in a woodsy area. There was every convenience. It's a super short walk into town and great food nearby. I didn't meet Julie but I did meet Yoko and other staff at the complex. Everybody was really nice and helpful. I'd happily stay there again.
It was a great stay in a LOVELY apartment. Local manager Yokohama was great, very helpful and communicative, prior to and during the trip. Same goes to the apartment owner Julie.
We absolutely loved our stay in SMA at Julie's apartment. The location was wonderful- right in town but away from all the activity and noise of the plaza principal. The apartment itself was lovely with plenty of space, a washer/dryer, books to read, well-equipped kitchen with filtered water, and cozy bedroom. We also enjoyed reading on the porch outside. We would highly recommend Julie's apartment to anyone visit SMA!
Julie's place was absolutely lovely! We highly recommend it to any travelers to SMA. The condo complex is well designed and secure within easy distance from downtown. There is a little hill to climb to get up to the condo but you can get a good workout. The condo itself is spotlessly clean with maid service twice a week. It is tastefully furnished and well stocked with linens and towels and great cable TV! Communication with Julie and her property manager, Yoko, was seamless. Both are very responsible and responsive. The lap pool in the complex was great as well! Thanks, Julie. A lovely time was had.
