sunny bedroom in charming soho apt.

Apartment - Private room · Grand St, New York, NY 10013, United States

The Space

i rent one of the bedrooms in my 3 bedroom apartment. (i use one of the bedrooms as an office, so there aren't additional guests). the apartment is charming, clean, and on one of the loveliest blocks of soho. the building is over 100 years old, and it has the feel of an old house.

there is a big eat-in kitchen, a living room, and a shared bathroom. the available bedroom has lots of privacy, as it's on the opposite side of the living room. the bedroom is filled with light, and has a window facing south/ downtown. there is a view of the new freedom tower/ world trade center. it has hard-wood floors, a queen-sized bed, an AC, a desk, and lots of room for clothes (a built-in closet, an armoire, and a big dresser). i have a wireless router for my own wi-fi network, so there is solid internet access.

the apt. is in the midst of some of soho's best restaurants and stores, though it's not on an especiallyl noisy block. 6th avenue is 1/2 a block away, so there are some traffic sounds, of course. it's right off of the A/C/E trains at the canal street subway stop, a block from the 1 train at the canal street stop, and is only a few blocks from pretty much all other train lines (at canal street).

the apartment is just around the corner from the soho grand hotel, and directly across the street from the james hotel. it's two blocks north of tribeca, and four blocks from the hudson river. along the hudson river waterfront, you can ride bikes, jog, or roller-skate, and there are a few piers with food stands, as you head uptown. you can also picnic downtown along the water at battery park city. there's a bike rental place a block away from the apartment, and you can walk or ride bikes over the brooklyn bridge. we have something called "citibikes" now in nyc, and you can rent them right on the street for just $10 a day. there are different citibike hubs that you can drop them off at too. there is one across the street from my apartment.

the apartment is on the 5th floor of a walk-up building. i have a very friendly and personable kitty named pipsqueak.

people sometimes ask me if i provide sheets and towels, and the answer is yes, i do!

thank you!

  • I had a great time staying here for the week! Juliette is a fabulous host and the apartment is in a great location between soho and tribeca. Flat itself is kept very clean but full of character thanks to Juliette's unique sense of nostalgic style. Lots of great little restaurants, cafes and grocers just around the corner. Enjoy!

  • My experience was delightful! If you like a sterile impersonal space then go to a hotel, if you want a warn home feeling go to Juliette's home.
My stay was lovely. Juliette is a great host!!
I love it. I felt welcome and secure a truly charming place in NYC.

  • We really enjoyed our stay in New York in the juliette’s appartment. The location is great, very convenient, the bedroom is peaceful with a confortable bed and Juliette is very welcoming and helpful. She didn’t hesitate to give us some good advices, recommandations for visits or also make a reservation for us in a good restaurant. I recommand Juliette’s place.

  • Juliette was a great hostess! She was helping us out a lot when we asked her where to go and what to see.

The first nights in the apt were really cold, but when we told Juliette we were freezing, she fixed a super warm cover for us :)

She kept tea, eggs and other healthy things that we were free to eat for breakfast - very nice!

The location is the best! Subway is just one block away, and it is easy to get around the city.

I can really recommend this accomodation! And Juliette is the best!

    Response from Juliette:

thank you so much! i loved having you guys stay with me as well. my apt. is usually a bit on the warm side, but in new york city, the landlords don't have to turn on the heat until it goes below 50 degrees, which always happens in mid-late october. in old nyc buildings you can't control the heat. there is always one or two nights in october when a big comforter is required. the heat did go on for the second night, but we were prepared just in case :) !

  • Wonderful stay ! We really enjoyed our time at Juliette's apartment.
The location is perfect to go everywhere in the city and closed to
everything. Plus, Juliette is a wonderful host, always in the mood for
an adress or an advice, and very hospitable, she did everything to
    make us comfortable. Recommanded !

  • Fantastic location and Juliette was the perfect host - incredibly warm and friendly, helping out with all our questions but also gave us space and privacy. My girlfriend fell ill at one point and she helped us finding a good local doctor. The place is cute, well priced and super convenient to getting around all of Manhattan and surrounding areas. One thing is that the room is pretty loud as it's near a busy road so not for light sleepers but that didn't bother us.

  • We spend some nice days in Soho, very central and close to all shops and subway stations. Juliette was a very nice host, friendly and very helpful.
We can truly recommand her place.

  • We enjoyed our recent stay at Juliette's apartment. Our room was clean and had enough space for all of our luggage (which was quite a lot as we were moving our son to college). The apartment is on the top floor of the building so it is very quite by NYC standards. Juliette was a great hostess. She is an interesting person to chat with (knows a lot about the city) and she also provided us with lots of privacy during our stay. She was even so thoughtful as to pick up the type of milk we drink and have it there for us. The apartment is in a great Soho location with places to eat and watering holes around every corner, literally. We walked to Battery Park and the 9/11 Memorial from her apartment. NYU is also within walking distance. If you are looking for a laid back place to stay in Soho that is in a clean, secure building, Juliette's place is for you.

  • Juliette and Pipsqueak were wonderful hosts! The apartment is so charming and was perfect for my needs. I was out and about quite a lot, so did not get to spend as much time with Juliette as I might have hoped. But when we were both in the flat, she was lovely to chat with. I would definitely stay here time and time again!
