The Space

Have you watched a Woody Allen film (email hidden) that takes place in NYC and wondered where THAT NYC is? It's right outside my door. I'm lucky enough to live in the historic West Village, brimming with the best cafes, bars, restaurants, jazz clubs, comedy clubs, night-time strolls, parks, and personality Manhattan has to offer. You can see the Empire State Building and the WTC Freedom Tower from my roof! A block away from the ultra-stylish boutiques of Bleecker St, a short walk from Magnolia Bakery, a couple of blocks from my favorite people-watching setting, Washington Square Park.

And when you want to venture beyond the West Village, my apartment is within a block of the A/B/C/D/E/F/M and 1 trains that can get you anywhere in Manhattan/Brooklyn/Queens.

You'll have full access to the kitchen, there's 2 grocery stores within a block, and the best Farmers Market in the city is a 15 minute stroll away in Union Square. Laundromat, several gyms, mailing services, parking garages, drug stores, etc. steps from the door. Free wi-fi included.

Clean towels and sheets, of course. I've even got some shampoo and conditioner in the shower for you.

I've lived in Manhattan for 5 years and not only (email hidden), but am always available to help you navigate the city and your plans. Emphasis on cultural activities, I'm a pro at getting into Broadway shows and knowing what's going on around town.

I live in a cozy nest at the top of a 6th floor walk-up. Emphasis on cozy, it's how real New Yorkers live. ;-) I always tell my friends the stairs let them eat that extra cannoli, and it ensures that even though I'm in the heart of one of the most social neighborhoods in the city, I hear not a peep from the street.

You may notice in the reviews many mentions of my cat, Simone. She no longer lives here, FYI (relocated to my boyfriend's apartment).

  • Everything went very well. Her apartment and room was clean. It is on the 6th floor and there is no elevator, not a big for me. But some people, it might be to much. The metro is also nearby. I would recommend this nest to my friends.

  • Laura was very responsive to my messages, professional and reliable. I enjoyed staying in the nest during my time in NYC which was excellently located in the heart of the West Village and safe and cosy.

I did not actually see Laura whilst staying in the apartment but we kept in touch and met up to exchange keys etc which was no problem. My very old set of keys had issues with a very old entrance lock which Laura managed to get sorted a new set cut the same day; amazing!

Like most flats in New York at the height of summer it was hot, very warm indeed. The 6th floor walk up almost killed me but that was no fault of anyone's but mine as it dawned on me how unfit i am!

For my first Airbnb experience i would recommend Laura's nest as a good place to stay. It's VERY small so would probably suit one person as opposed to two. With or without the aircon on, it's also very warm so bare that in mind too.

I was barely in the flat, just for sleeping and showering so for this purpose it was ideal. The flat seemed quite clean and fresh towels and wi-fi were provided upon arrival.

Laura is great and i'd like to thank you again very much for providing an excellent airbnb service.

    Regards

  • Laura's description of her place is spot on. We visited the city for a couple of weekdays and the whole experience allowed us to pretend we lived there for a bit, taking in some cafes and restaurants, and seeing some off-the-beaten path (and major) tourist attractions. Her place is on the 5th floor and is very quiet. She met us the first day and said she'd be staying elsewhere while we were there, so it was as if we were coming to our own apartment each night. It was a little warm/humid when we were there, but there's A/C in the bedroom, so you'll be fine. So many good places to eat are very close, but the trains are so frequent you can go anywhere pretty quickly. Strolls through the Village are so lovely. And, of course, there are a few subway stations nearby that give speedy access to just about everywhere in the city. She's lucky to live in such a vibrant, pretty district and we'd love to be able to stay again in the future.

  • This is a good location and Laura was very welcoming. The photos are a little out of date so it is not in as good condition or as clean as it may appear so we left after 2 nights but Laura was very understanding when we did so. If you are looking for cheap in the area and are happy to accept the above then I think Laura would be a nice host.

  • Laura is such a fantastic, helpful host. She have me detailed subway directions, recommended a cheap taxi service, and put me in touch with a neighbor who could be available if I needed anything. Everything went very smoothly. Her apartment was clean and is adorable - the bed is comfy, too! It is on the 6th floor and there is no elevator - not a big deal for most travelers but it could be inconvenient for some. I had a great experience and highly recommend Laura as a host!

  • Awesome experience in the West Village! Laura's pad is right smack-dab in the middle of everything fun and next to a subway stop for going to more fun things.

Very friendly communication from Laura with lots of tips on things to do around the area. Easy to check in and leave.

Room had a soft bed and plenty of space for putting stuff. Small kitchen as well that breakfast ( coffee. coffee. pastries. coffee. ) could be had in.

I would def. come back here again sometime.

About
I moved to the city 5 years ago to pursue a career in acting, but lo and behold I am currently a barista in a neighborhood cafe, doing research to open my own small business. I've been so happy living in NYC and I love showing others how to really get to know the city. Hint: it's not all about Times Square. On my favorite run down the Hudson I run past New Yorkers sprawled out on the grass, sailboats, the Statue of Liberty, and the WTC, and I cannot believe how lucky I am every time I run it. And I run it a lot. I am truly living the dream. I love good food and coffee and know where to send you. In my spare time I love yoga, hiking, reading, and anything to do with the arts. I also love to travel, so I know where you're coming from ;-)
