Greg was very friendly and welcoming. Place was a great deal for the price, as long as your comfortable with being in a partially finished basement. If you are, then I'd definitely recommend it.
I really enjoyed my stay with Gregory. Beautiful little house. I was cozy in my basement bedroom and didn't mind the unconventional bathroom. A private shower and toilet worked just fine. Really nice neighborhood & I enjoyed walking with Gregory (email hidden)-op (on par with Whole Foods) for breakfast, and talking about the arts and the Twin Cities. I come to Minneapolis often and I will definitely keep Gregory's place in mind. Great value too!
Greg lives in a great neighborhood, and he had a lot of helpful information about how to travel around with the public transportation system. The room is quiet and private, but fairly musty (even with a dehumidifier running full time). It's definitely an unfinished basement with a shower stall and toilet hidden behind an accordion screen, but it worked well for what I needed. Of course, the price is excellent.
I definitely would recommend this listing for folks who just need a clean, quiet place to crash in the evening that's close to public transportation.
I arrived during a thunderstorm at the Lake St light rail station and Greg was nice enough to come pick me up so I didn't have to walk through the rain. He was very friendly and accommodating with recommendations on places to go and how to get there. All in all, a good experience. The quiet bedroom, garden, chickens, and nice artwork were also a plus.
I spent quite a bit of time in Greg's place, and I'm really happy that I chose to do so. He was always cordial and welcoming, and I had lots of privacy. His house is in a great location--a safe place with friendly neighbors, all within walking distance of a Target, a Co-Op, a gym, tons of coffee shops, bus and light rail stops, and the university. The room is exactly what the listing shows, and the bed is really comfortable. The WiFi is best in the laundry area, and it reaches the bedroom as well. His chickens are the cutest.
Yay Greg! :-D
Quiet, CLOSE to U, clean, neat, and safe.
Greg suggested I attend the Minneapolis Spring Celebration, which was phenomenal.
Lovely surprise to see Greg's place is called "Farm in the City."
The stay at Greg's house was great. I came in late and checked out really early and he was really accommodating. I didn't see him much but we did have a nice talk the first night. He's very nice and is very passionate about natural foods and all things Cuba.
The neighborhood was great, I walked to and from my conference without any problem. It is also close to the light rail so that was convenient when I needed to catch an early flight. He also has a very nice backyard that I didn't get to enjoy as much as I would have liked. He also has some chickens which was fun to see in the city.
The room is in the basement which was completely fine. There is free wifi which was really convenient. The shower and bathroom were more than adequate. He does provide towels for guest use. There are toiletries (shampoo, condition, face wash, etc) in the shower but I'm not sure if guests can use it (I brought my own). The bed was large and comfortable. You do hear footsteps above the bed if the kitchen is occupied but it didn't bother. Overall, it was a great experience. As a single female traveler, I highly recommend Greg and his home.
Greg has an adorable home, older with the nice architecture and woodwork, but also with the older basement that comes with that era. He's fixed up a nice cozy bedroom there though, with the shower and toilet in the other parts of the basement....functionable but certainly not fancy. For the price.... more than adequate.
Greg was a gracious host, friendly.... had shared space upstairs to sit, read, etc., but allowed me my own space as well.
I'd like to come back in the warmer weather to enjoy the deck and garden.
Me and a friend stayed 4 days with Gregory, and we had a great time. He is a very friendly host, and he has lots of tips and ideas for tourists in Minneapolis. It was kind of a last minute trip, but even though we wrote him Wednesday afternoon he was okay with us arriving Wednesday night.
It was easy getting to and from the downtown area, either by bus or the light rail. The bus stop was very close by.
If you don't mind that the bathroom facilities aren't top notch, you'll have a great stay with Gregory, and I would definitely recommend it.
Flexible with the stay since I missed my plane and also checked out early. Greg was an accommodating host. You get a private room and bathroom down in the basement. I had a great time in Minneapolis.
