Corn Hill is the oldest neighborhood in Rochester. A good part of it is now a preservation district. My house is an 1880 Eastlake style Victorian brick house. It was built by a German shoe manufacturer by the name of Herman Behn. His firm was Behn and Young, and in the 1880s Rochester was a center for shoe manufacturing. My home is close to downtown. It is also less than a mile from the University of Rochester. Rochester is the home of Eastman Kodak, the George Eastman Museum of Photography, Xerox, Bausch and Lomb, Strong Museum of Play, and the Eastman School of Music. Lake Ontario is 3 miles from my home. Jonathan was a great host, very friendly and helpful. I had a great time. If you don't know what to do in Rochester, ask Jonathan. He can give you lots of tips and information. Highly Recommended!
Worked for me. I was in Rochester for a conference. I arrived late (around 9:30PM) and left early (around 6:30AM)
I want to say warmest thank you for making my stay as comfortible as possible. I really appreciate it!
Jonathan was friendly, warm and eager to help with all my needs and inquiries. He helped make my visit to Rochester very pleasant and comfortable. He is an interesting and intelligent conversationalist which added to the overall experience. The location of his home made getting around town a breeze. Highly recommended.
Didn't get a chance to meet Jonathan because of my schedule, but he was very helpful with arrangements and personable throughout our email conversations. Great location in central Rochester. Highly recommened.
The room was great, had it's own bathroom which is great. Lots of character and a really good place to stay. Jonathan was so friendly and helpful during our trip out there. I definitely recommend staying here.
Really neat old house in an historic neighbourhood. Great location near downtown Rochester, and it seemed like a very safe area. Jonathan was a friendly host with lots of good suggestions about places to go while in Rochester. I was only in the city for about 24 hours and this was a perfect place to crash overnight.
Jonathan is a very gracious host, who went out of his way to make sure that I had whatever I needed. His home is lovely, and filled with things that fit the Corn Hill style, so if you were hoping for a big empty space to stay in, this would not be it! I happened to have lived in Rochester, so I knew my way around, but he has a lot of books, magazines, etc., that would be an excellent resource if you are new to the area.
We had arrived late in the evening to Rochester after a long drive. Jonathan's home was very easy to find. We had a comfortable stay. The house is very cozy and welcoming. Highly recommended.
The place is very characterful, comfortable and well-located - in a quiet, walkable neighbourhood (also central), decent restaurants nearby. The bedroom should have more clear space for visitor's belongings.
We never met the host. We had to contact him via cellphone and he walked me through the apartment.
