Enjoy a peaceful stay in a spacious double room in a green and leafy part of London, with good access to public transport and local amenities. Perfect for business or holidays.

The Space

We have a lovely large double room available for holiday and business guests.

Your room is recently decorated and has a double bed, dresser, built in wardrobe, sofa and coffee table. Towels and bedlinen are supplied. An additional guest or child can be accommodated on the sofa, which doubles as a single bed. Do notify us ahead of time if you would like to make use of this option. (note: the sofa is different to the one in the photo. There is now a single seater which can be unfolded to provide an additional bed)

Your hosts, Joanna and Cezary are friendly and welcoming, and happy to share tips on places to visit and things to do.

Guest Access

The flat is spread over 2 floors and has one main bathroom with an overbath shower (shared with your hosts), and an additional cloakroom with toilet and basin. Exclusive use of the cloakroom can be accommodated on request. You are also welcome to make use of the kitchen to heat and eat. Additionally we have a dining/living room, with a couch and TV with Virgin media channels, and a dining table.

Interaction with Guests

You will be sharing the flat with us, Joanna and Cezary, your hosts. We often work from home, so check in and out times are flexible. We are happy to welcome you, show you around the house, and share tips on local facilities, and will also give you privacy and the flexibility to come and go as you wish.

We travel frequently on business, so it is possible that you may have exclusive use of the flat when we are away. This can be confirmed when you enquire.

The Neighborhood

There are plenty of shops and amenities very close by, with lots of excellent restaurants and bars to choose from and also some lovely coffee shops. Supermarkets are easy to get to, particularly the Sainsbury's local which is open till midnight. Putney High Street has an assortment of shops, as well as a small shopping mall, the "Putney Exchange".

You are within easy walking distance of the river Thames, with "The Boathouse" pub, a personal favourite. For anyone looking to explore locally, you are close to Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park for greenery, Wimbledon Championship tennis courts (1 stop on the tube, or 30 min walk), Fulham and Chelsea football clubs, and various other attractions.

Getting around

The flat is in Putney, well located for central London, with mainline trains, buses and the tube close by. From Putney overground station Waterloo is just a 15 min. train ride away. You can also easily connect to Clapham Junction and Victoria. Also within easy walking distance you have East Putney tube on the District Line. From Putney you can easily get to the hustle of the city, yet enjoy the peace and quiet of a leafy setting.

To get to the flat from Heathrow you can take the Piccadilly line to Earl's Court, and change for the District Line to East Putney. From Gatwick take the overground train to Clapham Junction, and change to go 1 stop to Putney. There are too many transport options to mention them all, vut if you have a question about getting here (or anything else)

Free overnight parking is available on the street, however between 9:30am and 4:30pm on street parking is pay and display. With excellent public transport, a car is not necessary. Boris Bikes have recently been extended to cover our area, and we have several docking stations close by, should you wish to explore by bike.

Other Things to Note

Please note, if you have difficulty with stairs this location is not ideal for you, as the flat is accessed via an external stairway, and there is no lift.

  • i stayed with joanne and cezary for almost a week and they were great hosts. not only did they provide me with information and tips about cycling in london, joanne even borrowed me her own folding bicycle, which turned out to be a real racing machine.
the room was like to be expected from the description and pictures, the house is clean and the coffee free.
the last two days they were absent due to a trip to south-wales and they left me the house without hesitation.
    to be recommended!

Her house is very comfortable and it's near to the pretty Putney district.

  • I had a wondeful stay and loved the place and its surroundings. The apartment was very clean and the hosts were very nice. The apartment was close to underground station with easy access to major public transports and also many cafes and restraunts were within walking distances.

  • I was stranded in Putney with no where to go, and found jo's place, it was clean and comfortable, it was so lucky the room was available that evening, otherwise I would have been in a bit of a pickle!

  • Joanna (email hidden) - good communication and we were shown around all the communal areas prior to being shown to the room, which was clean and as described. It made a short stay in London very easy and pleasant :)

  • We spent a peaceful and comfortable night with Joanna. For us parking is important and this was easy and free between late pm and 9.30am very close to the flat. Our hosts were welcoming, the room was large enough to be comfortable, simply decorated and quiet.

  • My friend and I were very disappointed with this place. Reviews said the hostess was very helpful in arranging the arrival: for us, it was not like that. Before arriving, I asked her for directions to her place from the station and she sent me a link to a transport web site (not very personalized advice); I read in the reviews that the place was difficult to find, so I had to ask her specifically about this (you would think she would tell you without having to ask, if she was helpful), etc. We were also quite surprised when we arrived there. The pictures don't do justice to what the place is like, and some unpleasant things not depicted include the stairs with dirty and worn down carpet. In the cloakroom upstairs the trash bin was full and there was a used towel to dry one's hands. The basin and especially the tab was not clean. In the bathroom downstairs the basin was not clean, the bath tub was not either, and the bath mat did not look clean. The bath glass screen was extremely dirty. Basically, the bathrooms had not been cleaned in preparation for our arrival. We did not feel comfortable to tell the hostess directly, to us it just felt insulting to tell that to somebody while we were sleeping under their roof. When I told her by email after our stay she said there is limescale in the water, but if this is the case then she should have cleaned more often while we were there for 4 days. She also said that all the reviews pray her on the cleanliness, which we just cannot understand. We have been to other Airbnb in Gerona and Mallorca in Spain and those were very clean, but this just was not. It’s not that we have unreasonable expectations about cleanliness, we both have travelled extensively and know what clean looks like. We also complained to her that we had chosen this house because the description says "an additional cloakroom with toilet and basin which you can have exclusive use of during your stay", and both hosts made use of the cloakroom a few times. The hostess responded that the private use is "accommodated on request", and "you can" have it, but "it is not a guarantee that you will". That seems to me like a trap. If you offer someone a private use of a toilet in a description of a house, who would not take that offer? It is not logical to have to request it, they should have specified that. We are two very social people but we certainly did not feel like that during our stay, as we felt we were not being treated fairly, and this made us feel quite down during our whole trip. We asked her for a partial refund and she refused. Luckily, I wrote to Airbnb and they did think this bad experience merited a refund, which we got from them.

    Response from Joanna:

Clearly I can't please everyone. I pride myself on the cleanliness of my home, which is reflected in the many positive reviews I have received. I trust that anyone considering staying will read the other reviews too, for an unbiased picture.
I do take your point about the description of the cloakroom availability, so will make sure to clarify arrangements for future guests.

  • Joanna (email hidden)iendly and leaves you to your own accord if you choose, or her and her partner will assist you if needing tips for London. We felt very comfortable staying there, so much so that we booked again when needing a place for one night enroute back to Canada.

The bedroom is spacious, the upstairs bathroom a tad small (perhaps only by Canadian standards rather than London) however we were welcome to also use the downstairs bathroom for showering so we were very content with the space and cleanliness.

Definitely recommend this room and the hosts!

  • I needed to stay for a short time for work purposes. Joanna and Cezary were helpful and friendly. The flat was a little hard to find but Joanna gave useful directions. No problems, everything went smoothly.

  • Joanna and Cezary were very welcoming and opened their home to us. We were especially grateful for their assistance with our washing. As any traveller who has been away from home for a while will know, the ability to refresher your body, soul and laundry after three weeks 'on the road' is very special. We enjoyed our stay and the opportunity to explore Putney on the two days we stayed.
