About the Host, Pam
I am a retired single woman and I love to share my home with travellers as a way of funding my own trips. I love the beach, travel and meeting new people.
I spent three months living in Turkey in 2012 and 2013, which I loved. I also spent five weeks in Washington DC and New York in 2011. In 2014 I travelled north to Queensland with my tent.
My motto is "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space."
I have two adult sons...one in Melbourne and the other in Sydney. I love driving my car but mostly I like my Piaggio X8 scooter which takes me on many long trips, and I ride with a couple of bike groups.
I enjoy paragliding, gliding and skydiving when I get the opportunity and one day will complete a PADI diving course.
I love meeting new people and hearing their stories, and sometimes I like a glass of red wine.
I am an avid reader and when travelling, like to read novels written by authors from the country I am in. I read "The Last Train to Istanbul" by Ayse Kulin and Orhan Pamuk's "Memories of Istanbul" while I was in Turkey, and in the US: "Ächilles in Vietnam," a non-fiction. I am happy to recommend Australian novels for overseas visitors. I also am an art gallery nut and love all sorts of food.
I have lived in the Bondi Beach area for many years and can be a great local guide if you need one.
I have a fairly recent degree in Indonesian and Journalism and spent half of 2007 working in Hanoi.
I love my local beach and summer is my favourite season. I am happy to lend you my bodyboard.
