The Webers' apartment was the perfect place for the getaway my friend and I needed during this long winter. The space is bright and roomy, and we made full use of the cozy couches to catch up over coffee and wine. The apartment feels quite separate from the house and is very quiet. The surroundings are stunning, as the photos show. It would make an ideal place for a personal retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed Graziella's art and her decorating style. As hosts, the Webers were just lovely. We were welcomed warmly by Graziella and then left to enjoy the space. Peter llater emailed to make sure we knew we could check out late as no one was staying the night we left. They had great suggestions for exploring the area and as a previous guest said, they are the kind of folks you wish you had taken time to get to know more. If you're looking for a place in mid-May, I would choose this one if only to be surrounded by all apple trees in blossom.
My friend and I are ski instructors and were doing re-certification training at Middlebury College Snow Bowl last weekend. Peter and Graziella's lovely place was perfectly situated - about 10 miles from the village and a little more from the ski area (and Peter told us a sweet back road to drive there on, complete with covered bridge). The views are stunning, the place is cozy even on a below zero night, and our hosts were gracious. The apartment is well stocked with food and treats, we were able to make our breakfasts and even reheat some delicious items left over from American Flatbread and Storm Cafe in Middlebury. Peter and Graziella have thought of everything that a guest could need. The place is nicely decorated - we knitters loved the vintage yarn sign as well as Graziella's art - and very clean. Communication was spot on and map and directions were perfect. Now I am hoping my son will want to attend Middlebury college so that I can come back often and bring my husband!!
We decided to splash out and spend a week resting and relaxing in rural Vermont and we were not disappointed in our decision. We took advantage of the weekly reduced rate so spent six nights in Whiting enjoying fine food, snowy walks and wintry drives. The apartment was beautifully styled, spotlessly clean and extremely welcoming from the moment we stepped in (especially because the fridge was stocked for breakfast with eggs, cheese, milk, juice and English muffins - what a way to start a stay!) Peter and Graziella had left out two keys and a sheet of house info, which told us everything we needed to know. We met Peter, who was extremely easy to chat with and my partner Mike met Graziella (and their super cute dog Libra) who told him about some walking paths around the house. We liked that they had left out a ring binder with some info on themselves, and actually would have loved the chance to chat with them more, as they have an interesting story and have lived in some great places. During our stay there was a winter weather warning for the area, which Peter emailed me about and explained that he would snow plough once the worst of it was over, which he did daily. In terms of practicalities about the apartment, there was an endless supply of hot water and a thermostat in the property that allows for personal temperature control, which I love. There is no oven, but the two burners work effectively so no-one will starve during their stay! The wifi worked perfectly the whole time we were there, as did the TV. Peter and Graziella have created an alluring self-sufficient space that lets you feel like you are living in the Vermont countryside with lovely neighbours nearby.
Great experience - the apartment was spacious, bright and well appointed, combining a cultivated rustic feel with Swiss standards of comfort including central heating, recessed lighting, and an excellent hot water system.
Peter and Graziella were most gracious hosts. They arranged to let me into the apartment at 2:00 am on the day of arrival, thus avoiding an intermediate stop at a local hotel.
The apartment is only about 10 minutes' drive (straight along 7) from Middlebury College.
Can you say 100% true advertisement? This apartment is as comfy, cozy and rustically beautiful as seen on the listing. The owner's artistic touch makes you feel like you're in a model home but yet "at home". The property sits in an apple orchard surrounded by a true 360 degrees mountain view. It's still relatively convenient being 10 mins south of Middlebury where we did our grocery shopping. We enjoyed the amazing color changes with sunrise and sunset as well as stargazing at night. It's honestly an amazing and rewarding experience.
We didn't get to meet Peter but Graziella is very hospitable in a non-imposing kinda way. We shared many great conversations and learned much about the area. She's really a great host.
We are back in Cali now but still reminiscing about our stay at the Weber's. It's sad that we had to go back to "real life" but will definitely be back!
Great hosts! I've sent my parents to stay with Peter and Graziella twice now, and they love it! Highly recommended!
What a perfect place to stay in Vermont. The accommodations are private, extremely comfortable, neat and decorated in a most unique way. We loved it. Peter and Graziella are the perfect hosts. The added goodies found in the fridge was such a great surprise. All areas that one would want to visit in Vermont are within driving distance. The roads offer beautiful scenery so who cares if one has to drive a bit. We would recommend this little piece of Heaven to anyone who is looking to visit beautiful Vermont.
Very private, charming studio apartment! In fact, it was the most beautifully funished/decorated B&B we have found on this website. It is great for visiting Middlebury College. Only critique was the poor water pressure in the shower.
I noticed the low water pressure too when cleaning the bathroom after our guest left.
However, our water pressure is more than adequate! But when checking the hand held shower head assembly, I notice that the desirable water volume was changed from "all open" to "saving water" setting.
We have guests all the time in our apartment but never has anybody criticized the water pressure in the apartment bathroom or anywhere else in the house.
There is an elaborate water pressure system installed in our house that provides clean and plentiful water supply from TWO wells!
It was our pleasure meeting Peter and Graziella this fall staying at their beautiful and lovely house in Vermont during our travel in North America. We will definitely choose their house when we visit Vermont again next time.
Lovely space on a beautiful farm. Close to Middlebury and very peaceful. They were kind enough to leave breakfast fixings and we had a very pleasant stay- would be happy to come back again!
