We are located in the Glasgow West End conservation area, about 15 minutes walk from the University of Glasgow so perfect if you have friends or relatives who are students at the University. Gartnavel Hospital is 10 minutes walk.
Our nearest rail station is only two stops (5 minutes) from Exhibition Centre station for SSE Hydro and SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre), and three stops from Glasgow Queen Street station in the city centre.
Our home, which is a top-floor 1870s sandstone tenement apartment over 2 levels, is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped, all the rooms having been renovated in the last few years.
We will set out a breakfast table for you to help yourself. We provide:
• toast with butter, jam, peanut butter, etc
• tea/herbal tea/coffee
• a selection of cereals / porridge
• there is usually also cheese, yoghurt and fruit.
Please note that there are two flights of stairs to reach our apartment as we are at the top of the building plus your bedroom is up another flight of internal stairs.
The apartment is not child-proof so we cannot welcome guests with young children or babies.
There is FREE on-street parking.
We provide towels, bathrobes, toiletries and a hairdryer. We have high-speed fibre WiFi and books, maps and travel guides for Glasgow and Scotland.
You may help yourself to tea, herbal tea, freshly-ground coffee and filtered water and we provide a self-serve breakfast.
There is only one bathroom in the apartment so the bathroom is shared; it has an excellent Raindance© shower and plenty of hot water. There is also a separate WC upstairs, next to your bedroom.
We have a washing machine and plenty of drying racks if you need to do some laundry.
There is no TV in your bedroom but you are welcome to join us in the sitting room to chat or watch TV, or in the separate music room to listen to music or play the piano.
Interaction with Guests
The room is in our home so we will be resident during your stay. We will usually be there to show you around when you first arrive and we're very happy to offer local advice.
The West End of Glasgow is the BEST area for visitors. West End, Glasgow won The Academy of Urbanism "The Great Neighbourhood Award" 2014.
From Wikipedia: "Glasgow's West End refers to the bohemian district of cafés, tea rooms, bars, boutiques, upmarket hotels, clubs and restaurants in the hinterland of Kelvingrove Park, the University of Glasgow (including the Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, Mackintosh House), Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, the Museum of Transport, Glasgow Botanic Gardens and the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, especially on the area's main thoroughfare, Byres Road. The area is popular with tourists, and contains many hotels, including the prestigious One Devonshire Gardens, which has accommodated a number of celebrity guests on visits to the city."
There are good public transport links to the city centre (train, subway or bus). We usually catch a train to the city centre from our local station (less than 10 minutes walk away) and the journey is only about 10 minutes.
We are only a 10-15 minute walk from Byres Road, the heart of the West End: close enough to enjoy the benefits but our street is much quieter than those around Byres Road.
Glasgow is a compact city so it is less than 1 hour to Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and the west coast as well as Edinburgh on the east.
Other Things to Note

Admission to museums owned by the City of Glasgow is free.
Our home is not child-proof so we cannot host babies or young children.

It is a very clean, functional and lovely house. Tom and Helen are very friendly, considerate and informative. The breakfast is great. We enjoyed the sky view of the room, especially the stars sky in the evening. Hope to stay in Tom and Helen's if we can visit Glasgow again.
I had a great time with Tom and Helen. Their house is easily assessable from the rail or subway. Nice room, GREAT light blocking window shade to help catch up from jet lag. Quiet location and the home has been nicely updated.
Just the best experience. Lovely location (peaceful, green), handy to rail links and within walking distance of the city centre. Tom and Helen were welcoming, informative, relaxed and happy to take the lead from me as to how much interaction I wanted/needed. Lovely room with everything I could want, and more, anticipated. Interesting, creative home full of special design features. I would love to have stayed longer.
We had a very nice time at Helen and Tom's house. They gave us a warm welcome. Everything is very well organised, kind thoughts to make us feel happy during our stay: a lot of maps, places to eat, sites to visit, how to take train, metro, taxi,...some water in the bedroom.
And a varied and greedy breakfast with fresh food, homecooked bread, fruits, coffe and tea.
Above all Helen and Tom are lovely persons we appreciated to chat with, especially during breakfast!
The neighborhood is nice with lovely houses to look at.
We had a fabulous time with Helen and Tom. They were very accommodating and extremely helpful with guiding us around the city. The room was perfect- a good size and very clean. I would recommend staying with Helen and Tom to anyone.
Tom and Helen couldn't have been more accommodating. The room was clean and bright. The home is modern in style, especially the kitchen and bathroom. Breakfast was lovely, in particular the freshly baked bread each day.
Both hosts were extremely helpful, I was on crutches at the time of my visit and Tom even kindly carried my bags to the taxi for me when I left.
This was my first airbnb experience and I would certainly use it again. Would recommend Tom and Helen to first time airbnb users and those more experienced users. Top hosts.
Helen and Tom were more than friendly, it was probably my best air bnb experience so far. They were always approachable for information and questions. Very, very welcoming too. Their apartment was very clean, comfortable as well as accessible. The apartment is located very conveniently too (quite near subway, train station, lots of buses). The neighbourhood was family friendly and quiet but not too far from the hip-side of town in Partick and Hillhead. Great stay, great host and great apartment. I would more than recommend it.
