Kathleen was not fair and I would not recommend using her as a host.
Our experience with Kathleen's place was incredible. Great location.. so close to SoCo. Cute neighborhood with lots of mature trees. Luckily we got to meet Kathleen upon arrival and she showed us around and showed us where everything was and how to use AC and TV. She also suggested some places to go and showed us a map of the area. I've never been in a more thoughtful Airbnb before. Seriously. She thinks of everything!! Kitchenette stocked with coffee, soda, snacks, ice, and any utensil you could possibly need. The bed was super comfy and everything was very clean. We felt very private and had enough space for two people. I cannot recommend her place enough and we will definitely try to stay with her next time we are in town. If you are lucky enough to come across this booking and it's available, absolutely book it. Kathleen is a great host!
The Hideaway is a comfortable, well-located little unit in Travis Heights. Kathleen has thought of everything- even the stuff you don't know you need. And even though you can be on I-35 or South Congress or Riverside within three minutes, it feels secluded. The off-street parking spot is especially nice. Perfect for my needs - I'll be back (if it's available).
Kathleen put together the perfect efficiency apartment that feels like home in minutes. Having a quality, tuned-up bike to ride around is a nice added feature that comes in handy whether you need to run to the store or explore Austin. Book it, you won't regret it!
Kathleen made it easy to book, answered all questions and kept in touch. Very clean and cozy place. Even met me when I arrived after 10:00 p.m. The apartment is quiet, bed so comfy and a cute neighborhood. Any time I had questions, or needed something, she came right over and took care of things. I would book with Kathleen again if I ever have to go back to Austin!
Great, great location, very responsive hostess, very clean apartment suited for a couple, and endless supply of excellent coffee. It turns out in our haste to leave, we forgot some items. Kathleen very graciously and without our asking, volunteered to mail to us. In addition, she provided a great suggested to help with our car trouble....way above and beyond her pay grade.
We had the best time at Kathleen's place in Austin! There is not one thing that we didn't love about it. She makes you feel so welcome but is never intrusive. She literally has everything you need in the apartment from coffee to q-tips, bobby pins and safety pins, and anything else you could imagine! I would 100% recommend this to another couple who is looking to stay in a quiet neighborhood in Austin. You can easily walk to South Congress and can get an Uber within 4 minutes! Loved this place and cannot wait to return!

About the Host, Kathleen
I have lived in Austin most of my life. My family moved here in 1958 when my father got a teaching job at UT. I spent my twenties in beautiful Boulder, CO then came back home. I feel fortunate to live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in one of the most interesting and livable cities. In 2012, I converted an efficiency apartment in my triplex to a short-term rental. It has gone so well that as of May 2015, the 2/1 apartment in the triplex is on Airbnb too. I love meeting the guests. Hearing what people from Europe to Hawaii observe about Austin has broadened my perspective.
I live in the third apartment in the triplex and work from home as the executive director of Truth Be Told, a small nonprofit that provides programs for incarcerated women.
