This is an ideal location for going to the Convention Center, anything downtown, South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, and Fun Fun Fun Fest. Bus stops are 3 and 5 blocks away. Taxis are readily available and Uber is great in Austin. Several hourly car rental services available, such as Car2Go if you are a member. Enterprise is close by.
Have fun and respect the neighborhood. Please don't smoke in the apartment. Please keep the bikes locked up all of the time. If you need a washer and dryer, you are welcome to use the ones in my apartment.
Kathleen met us at the door & gave us a thorough tour of the apartment & what was available for our use. She gave great input regarding things to do in Austin & had lots of books, magazines, maps, etc. to help with our planning. The apartment is WONDERFUL! The bed is very comfortable & the kitchen & bathroom are very well stocked. Kathleen seems to have thought of everything that a traveler might forget & makes sure that it is available. The neighborhood is clean & safe. We were within walking distance of South Congress, 6th St., the state capitol, UofT, Rainey St., South 1st, & more. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the "Travis Heights Hideaway" & would definitely stay there again. As I told Kathleen the evening before we left, I almost don't want to tell people about how nice this apartment is because I want it to be available for us any time we decide to visit Austin again!
We had a great stay at Kathleen's place. Kathleen is a lovely and considerate host. The place is so well-equipped with all the essentials plus some bonus goodies! The Travis Heights neighbourhood was a super peaceful and very safe place. The bikes were perfect, we rode them nearly everyday though we learnt that Austin is very hilly.
Great stay! Kathleen's place was as advertised, she responded promptly to our texts, and she even accommodated an early check-in. We really appreciated the Keurig and we loved having the bikes!
Kathleen's place was great! Just as described. Very clean and convenient. Would stay again!
Kathleen's place was the perfect place for us! It was really clean, had a ton of essentials already stocked, and the location was fantastic. We were in a really quiet, and safe neighborhood- but still very close to downtown, SoCo, and the highway. Kathleen was the perfect host and we hope to be able to come back and try her other properties!
Kathleen's studio space was fantastic for our short visit to Austin. We wish we could have spent more time to explore the city on the available bikes. Although we had a car, we used Uber to get to and from downtown with little to no wait. The space itself was cozy (the shower being especially cozy.) Kathleen has stocked the unit with everything you could possibly need from Keurig coffee pods, snacks, soap, shampoo, lotion, cable, movies, etc, etc. you really will not want for anything. We highly recommend Kathleen's space.

About the Host, Kathleen
I have lived in Austin most of my life. My family moved here in 1958 when my father got a teaching job at UT. I spent my twenties in beautiful Boulder, CO then came back home. I feel fortunate to live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in one of the most interesting and livable cities. In 2012, I converted an efficiency apartment in my triplex to a short-term rental. It has gone so well that as of May 2015, the 2/1 apartment in the triplex is on Airbnb too. I love meeting the guests. Hearing what people from Europe to Hawaii observe about Austin has broadened my perspective.
I live in the third apartment in the triplex and work from home as the executive director of Truth Be Told, a small nonprofit that provides programs for incarcerated women.
