Our host, Kathleen was a delight! Very considerate and thought of so many homey touches. The apartment is adorable and met our needs perfectly: a comfy bed with lots of pillows, kitchenette with snacks and good coffee, and a big bathroom with Aveda products in the shower. Just perfect! Also, she green cleans and it smelled clean, not perfumed. The neighborhood is central and lovely, great for walks with super easy access to South Congress (1 mile away) and Riverside drive that takes you to I-35. Absolutely lovely.
We just spent three nights in the Travis Heights Hideaway and really enjoyed the experience. Kathleen was very welcoming and accommodating. The apartment had all the amenities you could need for a great stay. The location in the heart of the eclectic Travis Heights neighborhood was convenient, charming and homey. The two bikes she provided were in good shape and proved to be very handy for getting around the neighborhood and back and forth to the downtown area, the convention center, and South Congress Street for shopping and entertainment. I would definitely recommend Kathleen and her little getaway if you are looking for a taste of life in the city of Austin.
Kathleen was a wonderful host and had tons of great tips for places to go and things to see in Austin. The apartment is very cozy and the accommodations (wifi, cable tv, snacks in the kitchen) were a nice touch. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm traveling through Austin.
We just got back from spending a weekend at Travis Heights Hideaway and we loved it! This place has everything you need and then some. Kathleen is awesome! We can't wait till we come back again!!!
We loved staying in this centralized location, it was a nice place for us to stay when while we were experiencing everything Austin has to offer. Kathleen was very helpful, giving us suggestions about what to see and the best places to eat. We would come back here again.
Kathleen is a wonderful host! She was very hospitable and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. Her place is very clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. She even provided coffee and snacks in the room!
The neighborhood was outstanding and close to downtown Austin. Kathleen has bikes available for those wishing to tour the area and maybe get a little exercise. We stayed for five days and couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Kathleen's place is well set-up for the traveller. It's clean, in a good neighborhood, with good closet space, a cute kitchenette and just 15 minutes away from the airport. The pantry is well stocked with goodies for the weary traveler as is the bathroom for those items you might forget. Kathleen was kind enough to great us when we arrived, give us a good tour and show us the bike paths. We really enjoyed taking her bikes for a spin along Austin's Riverfront.
I have lived in Austin most of my life. My family moved here in 1959 when my father got a teaching job at UT. I spent my twenties in beautiful Boulder, CO then came back home. I feel fortunate to live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in one of the most interesting and livable cities. In September 2012, I converted an efficiency apartment in my triplex into a short-term rental. I love meeting the guests. Hearing what people from Europe to Hawaii observe about Austin has broadened my perspective.
I work from home as the executive director of Truth Be Told, a small nonprofit that provides programs for incarcerated women.
