Interaction with Guests
Apartment A is also an Airbnb rental and the front porch is shared with those guests. I live in apartment B. I usually meet guests when they arrive and I'm available if you need anything.
WALKABLE - Sit on the porch and watch the bird feeder and butterfly garden under the giant oak tree, then take a 10 minute walk (3/4 mi.) to the nationally recognized eclectic collection of South Congress shops and restaurants. This historic neighborhood has beautiful homes from the early 1900s and innovative modern homes that were built last week.
LOCATION - Visit Zilker Park (2 mi.) with Austin's jewel - Barton Springs Pool. View the bats from Congress Avenue bridge at twilight before you head downtown for nightlife (2 mi.). This is an ideal location for going to the Convention Center, anything downtown, South by Southwest, Austin City Limits, and Fun Fun Fun Fest. Bus stops are 3 and 5 blocks away. Taxis are readily available and Uber is great in Austin. Several hourly car rental services available. Enterprise is close by.
Have fun and respect the neighborhood. Please don't smoke in the apartment. Please keep the bikes locked up all of the time. If you need a washer and dryer, you are welcome to use the ones in my apartment.
Great place. The neighborhood is really nice and within walking distance to Congress. The apartment was clean, well stocked and Kathleen made me feel very welcome.
Kathleen's place was the perfect place for us! It was really clean, had a ton of essentials already stocked, and the location was fantastic. We were in a really quiet, and safe neighborhood- but still very close to downtown, SoCo, and the highway. Kathleen was the perfect host and we hope to be able to come back and try her other properties!
Kathleen's studio space was fantastic for our short visit to Austin. We wish we could have spent more time to explore the city on the available bikes. Although we had a car, we used Uber to get to and from downtown with little to no wait. The space itself was cozy (the shower being especially cozy.) Kathleen has stocked the unit with everything you could possibly need from Keurig coffee pods, snacks, soap, shampoo, lotion, cable, movies, etc, etc. you really will not want for anything. We highly recommend Kathleen's space.
Kathleen was a very gracious hostess. The rental is efficient, comfortable and convenient to many nearby favorites. We had a wonderful time, and will most definitely be back to Austin.
Perfect! Everything was so well prepared. Instructions were super clear, some bite foods were available in case. This is way better than what I would have expected out of any hotel.
Kathleen's charming apartment has everything you need to feel at home. Located in one of Austin's cutest neighborhoods this is the perfect place to discover the many beauties of our awesome capitol.
Kathleen was the perfect host. She has the nicest place in a cute quiet neighborhood. Close to downtown, Congress, 6th , Food trucks, etc, etc... We will definitely stay with her again!!! A++++++++

I have lived in Austin most of my life. My family moved here in 1959 when my father got a teaching job at UT. I spent my twenties in beautiful Boulder, CO then came back home. I feel fortunate to live in one of the coolest neighborhoods in one of the most interesting and livable cities. In In 2012, I converted an efficiency apartment in my triplex to a short-term rental. It has gone so well that as of May 2015, the 2/1 apartment in the triplex will be on Airbnb full time. I love meeting the guests. Hearing what people from Europe to Hawaii observe about Austin has broadened my perspective.
I live in the third apartment in the triplex and work from home as the executive director of Truth Be Told, a small nonprofit that provides programs for incarcerated women.
