HI, I'm Tessa and I am the owner of....... 707 West O.
THIS HOME IS IN THE HEART OF SOUTH Central AUSTIN!!! 1.3 miles to Barton Springs Rd where Longs Center is located and where Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail is! ONE MILE to SOUTH CONGRESS taking So 1st down to a right on Mary St W and then over to So Co. South Congress has lots of fun to offer you! This house is also very near downtown and many great restaurants, such as, Barley Swine, Vespaio, Olivia, Uchi, Polvos, Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse, El Alma and Torchy's Tacos. Fair Bean coffee shop is just around the corner!!
This is a 1950's HOUSE that has been completely remodeled. This house is only a guest house for rent, I live around the corner. We just completed the remodel and there is fresh paint inside and out! The kitchen has solid granite counter tops and all stainless appliances including a dishwasher, range, and refrigerator. The kitchen has everything you need except the food. The local HEB grocery store is just down the street at the corner of Oltorf and Congress. The house has all hardwood floors that have been refinished and look great!
The MASTER BEDROOM has a KING FOUR POSTER BED and the 2ND BEDROOM has a QUEEN BED with an iron headboard handmade by the artist boyfriend of the owner. Both bedrooms have a chair and table for makeup and each has a bench for your suitcase along with a dresser for your clothes. There are clean closets in each room.
There is a laundry room with a washer and dryer for extended stays and a daybed in this room that is also a twin bed. The bathroom is all tile with a shower/tub enclosure and a new toilet.
The LIVING ROOM has a leather couch and four separate chairs that make it very comfortable for 6 people. The dining room is open to the living room. There is a 32" HD TV and a blue ray DVD player in the corner cabinet in the living room with basic cable and WIFI. Guest will love that you can feel safe with the FENCE THAT COMPLETELY SURROUNDS THE PROPERTY and you can close the gate at end of drive out from the covered carport when you leave the house. The back door entrance under the covered carport has a keypad that will have a code on it to let you into the house. The covered carport is a great outside patio!!
As the owner of this house I have put lots of personal touches in it and hope that you will love how comfortable it is. My boyfriend is the artist and many of the paintings in the house are his work as well as the sculptures that decorate the house and many are available for purchase. We are so pleased with how nice this home has turned out and we hope that you will feel the same way.
The house is in the middle of the So Co (South Congress) and So La (South Lamar) district of Austin. It is located on the corner of West Oltorf (West O ) and S 3rd street. If you take S 3rd across West O north to Mary St and go right on Mary to S 1st you will be at the Bouldin neighborhood coffee house (.5 miles away), another .5 miles east on Mary St. will get you to So Co and all the great restaurants up and down South Congress!!
This house is ONE MILE from the corner of BARTON SPRINGS ROAD and BOULDIN STREET which makes it very convenient to ACL on town lake and all the SXSW events!!!!! Of course all the live music you could hope for is close and Austin's famous 6th Street is 2 miles north just across the South 1st St bridge and town lake! Bring your bikes!! As the owner I do have bikes available for rent---ask me!! I don't keep them at the house. You must sign a release and leave a deposit and my bikes need to be back before dark!
If you are coming to Austin for Formula 1 (the ONLY USA F1 track) this house is on the most convenient side of town!! Just take W Oltorf two blocks to (right) on S 1st Street and go south to highway 71 and head to the race track!! You can take W Oltorf east to IH 35 and head to the race track or take W Oltorf east to S Congress south to 71 and on to the race track!!
707 West O is also a great location for those going to any of the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS sporting events!!!
What more can I tell you. Larry and I love Austin and know that you will love being here and staying in this great place. We are close and available to help you. Call us if you need anything and we will try our best to make it happen.
I will put a Weber grill on the patio for BBQ'n if you need one. You provide the charcoal. Please let me know in advance as I don't keep one at the house. There are sooo many great restaurants that not many people cook at the house!
If you want bikes ask me!
I would be happy to give advice on how to get somewhere. I live around the corner.
This house is in a fun location for lots of activities in South Austin.
You can catch a bus on South First Street that will take you downtown.
Love the house. It's exactly as advertised. Tessa is a great host, left snacks and checked up on us that we were all set. There are notes everywhere which was very helpful. She definitely has put in the time to make sure that your stay is enjoyable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, it would be very easy to host a dinner, just add the ingredients. The house is in a great location, close to all the happenings on South Congress and Downtown but just removed enough to allow for some quiet.
We had a great stay at West O in Austin. Tessa and Larry were so nice and accommodating , they made us feel right at home. Their house is really cozy and it was impeccably clean, no dirt or dust anywhere. You can walk to resturants and convince stores it has great proximity to all that s cool in Austin. It is by far much better than a stuffy hotel room, we highly recommend staying there, we will be staying there again for sure.
First, Tessa was a fantastic hostess (even though we didn't get a chance to meet her!). As soon as we arrived at West O, we noticed so many details that made us feel welcomed: country music playing on the boombox in the kitchen, a jar of gummy bears and other snacks on the counter, whole dry roasted peanuts on the dining table, and a dozen fresh towels in the bathroom. She called at the start of our stay to check that we found the house okay and then called again on our last day to make sure we had a good stay. There are also helpful little notes and signs around the house.
The house itself is equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Just right for the 4 of us. It is also artfully decorated which just makes it that much more homey. If our schedule wasn't so busy, we would have loved to have had more time relaxing in the living room or using the very modern kitchen.
West O is also conveniently walking distance to the vintage shops on South Congress as well as the great food on Lamar, 1st and Congress Streets. Barley Swine, Hopdoddy, Gourdough's and La Mexicana were some of our favorite eats we enjoyed. Yum!
To get downtown for all the SXSW events, we each purchased a $9 one week bus pass (such a deal!). There are a number of bus lines nearby and the bus ride downtown takes less than 15 minutes though the buses can be infrequent (every half hour). You might be waiting a while if you miss one. In the wee hours of the morning, the "Night Owl" buses got us back home. Note that the transit agency temporarily closes/relocates many downtown bus stops during SXSW so make sure you look up the new locations on the CapMetro website ahead of time so that you can get home! We were so glad to have the convenience of the bus because most cabs were unwilling to take people south of downtown. It seemed that with so many people in the city during the festival, the taxi drivers wanted to take passengers to destinations where they could pick up more passengers.
While West O is relatively far from downtown, we found it to be a much needed escape from the SXSW craziness. Thanks to Tessa for the hospitality and for helping to make our first visit to Austin great! We highly recommend West O and would definitely consider staying here again when we make our way back.
