  • This apartment is great! Very quiet, close to tons of restaurants, and easy access to the subway. The bed was super comfortable, and the place was clean and welcoming. We didn't meet Mark, but his friend Chrissy was really friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this apartment, especially if you're looking for somewhere to stay close to Columbia.

  • My partner and I had a wonderful experience at Mark’s place. The apartment is just as seen in the pictures – spacious and well-decorated. Maybe just a bit darker than in the pictures, but that wasn’t a problem. The bathroom is huge, bigger than any other Manhattan bathroom I’ve seen. And the terrace was possibly the best thing about the place – a silent little open space in the middle of the big city, truly a privilege! The apartment was very clean, and extremely well located. The location is PRIME! Literally a 3 minute walk to the A-C subway stop on 118th st , and 2 blocks from Frederick Douglas Boulevard, where you can find cafes, restaurants, supermarket, etc. At the same time, it’s half a block away from Morningside Park, in a silent street. We had never been to Harlem and it was truly a positive experience. Last but not least, Mark was a great host. He was very attentive and responsive via email before our arrival, even when he was travelling. His friend Chrissy was responsible for our check-in and check-out and everything worked out perfectly: she was very punctual and also very welcoming, showing us the apartment and giving us great neighborhood tips. And to our surprise, Mark had left us a bottle of wine in the apartment when we arrived! I would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable and calm place to stay in NYC.

  • Mark is a great guy. He was accommodating and hospitable. His brownstone is nicely decorated, very clean and conveniently located. There are some great eateries in the neighborhood. We had some amazing Thai food our first night there. Getting around New York was very easy and there are several options all within a few blocks. We took a 45 minute bus ride from and to LGA airport for $2.50. Everything from the host to the location was great. There is also a great patio that we didn't get to utilize but I hope when I visit the city in the future. I strongly recommend Mark's Brownstone for lovely and affordable option.

  • I reserved Mark's apartment on behalf of my mother and her husband, who had come to town for my graduate school commencement. Mark was very easy to contact. Although he was about to travel to Africa for work, he left an email address, in the event that we needed to contact him while he was away. My mother and her husband had a great stay, we all highly recommend the apartment. Thanks Mark for all of your help and hospitality!

    Below is a more detailed message from the guests, my mom and her husband:

    "This was our first experience using AirBnB and our first visit to NYC. Mark's hospitality was wonderful. We were welcomed with a brief letter outlining restaurants and sites to see in the area. There was a bowl of fruit and snacks, as well as other assorted beverages and food which we were free to eat. His place is in a great location, near stores, restaurants, parks, and subway stations. Even for first-time visitors to NYC, it was easy to find our way around. The apartment was more than adequate for the price and made our stay very comfortable, almost like being at home. We would definitely recommend his place and hope it is available when we visit again. "

  • Mark's appartment was perfect for our little family. Nice, cosy, clean, with a terrace, situated in a very friendly neighbourhood. We felt very welcome, mark wrote us a welcome letter with all the details we needed. We felt also safe walking around till late, and yet the building is really quiet at night. Mark's fondness of travelling, as visible in his decorating, made us feel very at home and we will definitely come again when we'll be in NYC next time.

  • Mark's apartment was fabulous. It was in a safe, friendly neighborhood located within walking distance of an express subway stop. We really enjoyed the area, and the apartment itself was clean, comfortable and quiet. Mark, was out of town, but was attentive to our needs via email, and had a friend who greeted us on arrival. We would definitely consider staying there again.
    It felt very homey in this great gem of an apartment in South Harlem.

Thank you very much!!

  • Si vous cherchez l´hôte parfait, ne cherchez pas plus loin. C´est Mark!
    Vous n´aurez pas le temps de vous poser de questions que mark y aura déjà répondu. Tout devient d´une simplicité exemplaire! Un grand merci à lui. En plus, vous serez accueillis par une bonne bouteille de vin et 2 feuillets avec des conseils de restaurants à faire près de l´appartement. Que demander de plus ?
    Ah si un appartement d´une propreté sans faille, une terrasse magnifique et une pression sous la douche que je n´avais encore jamais vu. Plus besoin d´aller aux thermes (-;
    Et la ligne de métro est à 2 pas et vous emmène partout sous forme lente ou sous forme rapide (express).
    Un régal!
