Galway City's Victorian Heart

House - Private room · The Crescent, Galway, Galway, Ireland

The Space

Crescent House is a 3 story Victorian home 5 minutes walk from Galway's city centre & 5 minutes walk from the sea. The house is furnished in a mixture of antique and modern furniture. You will have a spacious double room and a very comfy king bed and there is a bathroom across the hall.

Paid parking is available on the street outside the house but there is free parking on an adjacent street.

This home was lovingly refurbished in 2011 and all the historical features have been retained. Original wooden floors and shutters, high ceilings and sash windows combine with the cosiness and comfort of modern conveniences. The kitchen is modern but with an original fireplace in the dining area. Crescent House has hosted a number of historical figures in the past.

The Crescent is one of the most prestigious addresses in Galway.
Please note that the street view here does not show the correct street for some reason.

Within 3 minutes walk you will find one of Galway's best restaurants, Kai Cafe and the well known Crane Bar home to some of the best traditional music in town. A further 2 minutes will bring you to more award winning restaurants with the famous Quay Streetonly a 7 minute stroll. Other restaurants close by that we recommend include Ard Bia and Anair and we highly recommend Neachtains pub - you never know who you'll run into there over a pint of Guinness.
Walk the other direction and within 5 minutes you are on Salthills promenade looking across Galway Bay to the hills of Clare and the Burren.

While you're here enjoy some unique food experiences, get caught in a 'session' in Neachtains, catch a play at the Druid Theatre or a gig in Roisins. Visit Connemara the Aran Islands and The Cliffs of Moher or join me for an early morning dip in Galway Bay at Salthill.

We speak Spanish and French and we have WiFi, bicycles, lots of recommendations and loads of books - no TV though.

Looking forward to meeting you.........

  • Mark and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ursula and Rory in their lovely home. They both made us feel extremely welcome and our room was delightful - spacious and beautifully presented. Our bathroom, just across the hall, was just right .... Great shower. Everywhere was spotlessly clean.

Rory and Ursula are charming and it was great spending time talking. Rory was particularly helpful when we arrived and wrote down some suggestions as to where we might go for meals, drinks, music, etc. We tried four or five of his ideas and found his descriptions spot on. It was very useful and a great time-saver to have some local info.

Whilst it was pay parking directly outside their home, Rory pointed us to some free parking nearby; and we moved the car there once we had taken our bags in.

Their house is extremely conveniently situated. A five-minute walk gets you right into the middle of Galway; however, although central, the area was peaceful at night.

We would definitely stay there again.

  • Ruaidhri & Ursula were superb hosts. Their house is lovely and very well located in Galway. The room was great with an exceptionally comfortable bed and overall was a great place to stay. They were happy to provide recommendations of their favourite places to eat and drink locally which was really appreciated and improved our short stay. Would happily come back and recommend to anyone.

  • Rory and Ursula are fantastic hosts and their home is absolutely beautiful! They instantly made us feel at home and offered several great recommendations that helped make our first trip to Ireland really special. We also really enjoyed getting to know them. It was great to be centrally located in Galway and to be within walking distance to a number of great pubs, restaurants, and stores. We would definitely stay with Rory and Ursula again. If you are looking for an exceptional experience in Galway, I highly recommend staying here.

  • My friend and I highly enjoyed this gorgeous home! Rory and Ursula were so accommodating and friendly. We felt like they went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed and we truly felt at home. Our host even made a lovely fire for us our first evening to snuggle up to. The guest room is gorgeous and the shower in the guest bathroom was first rate. The entire home is decorated simply and in great taste. I would definitely recommend a stay here. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the city center of Galway and we were able to easily find buses to take us to the Cliffs of Moher. (this was about 1 hour and 50 minutes away from Galway.) Should you be looking for a serene and friendly experience, I would recommend a stay here.

  • Rory and Ursula couldn't be nicer hosts and their beautiful, immaculate home is central to everything you would want to see in Galway. The bed was the most comfortable I have encountered in an airbnb. Thank you for a memorable stay!

  • It was our first Airbnb experience, so I was a bit worried how it would turn out to be. However, I first got a very nice message from Ruaidhri, I knew I was right. My mother & I had interesting & pleasant stay at the Crescent house in Galway. Ursula & Ruaidhri are nice couple and offered us everything we needed during our stay including a lot of tips which restaurants, pubs and shops to visit. We had already made up the plans for our stay in Galway and didn’t have much time to stay at the house, but I wish I could enjoy chatting with them a bit more. Thank you very much for everything!

  • Ursulas & Rorys house is an absolutely great and cozy place to stay and to enjoy Galway! It's a fully renovated beautiful old building (few steps from city centre), everything was absolutely clean.

It was a very warm welcome and also during our stay we had the chance to drink a few pints together ;)

We got a lot of nice local tips concerning pubs, restaurants and especially also day trips in the area.
We will be there again on our next trip to Ireland and we can fully recommend their home as a stay in Galway!

  • I made the reservation for my parents, so they were the ones staying with Ursula & Ruaidhri.

My parents told me they were a very nice family, the house was really nice and they had a great time in Galway.

The only down side for them was the lack of storage places. They could not hang any of their clothes or leave their toiletries anywhere in the bathroom.
