P.S. welcome to ask for more information for traveling around Hong Kong
The apartment is showed as the picture depicts. It's rather small, however that is expected in HongKong. The basic amenities- cups, bowls, plates, hair dryer, umbrella, are provided.
I was given a clear explanation about how to get to the meeting area. Upon arriving in HongKong, Hong's sister, Irene, texted me even before I did to check about our flight. Hong's mum picked us up at the meeting area and showed us the way to the apartment and explained about the locks and what to do when we are checking out. It was in an excellent location, in Ladies Market but it looks out to the other side of the market - there is a great view from the kitchen over a little park a few streets away. There are dozens of restaurants and the train station are only a stones throw away. The host and her mum were very accommodative and easily contactable.
The downsides are the beds, they are a bit hard for my liking. Also, there seems to be cockroaches in the apartment as well. We did inform the host's sister, Irene, regarding the issue and she did make the effort in trying to resolve the issue by asking the pest control to come in the next day to replace the cockroach medicine, in which we politely declined.
I'm pretty satisfied and with the problems fixed, I would definitely recommend to friends who are thinking of staying there.
I stayed in Hong's apartment for one month. It was in an excellent location, in Ladies Market but it looks out to the other side of the market - there is a great view from the kitchen over a little park a few streets away. It was relatively quiet. The first few nights I woke with the clanging of tent pegs as the market was packed-down, but it wasn't excessively loud and I got used to it (and I am a super light sleeper). I did find that the bedroom was quite light in the night - light enough to read the time on my watch, so I hung things from the window latches and that made it dark enough for sleeping. For one person the apartment was ideal as I could add the spare single mattress to the super-hard "double-bed" mattress. I could use the smaller bedroom as my "clothes closet" - though there is good storage and hanging space in the main bedroom. The apartment was sort-off clean. I did some the extra cleaning to bring it up to my standard. The kitchen is a great layout, it is just a shame that most things don't work - though I managed fine with the working induction cooker and kettle. The bathroom is small but workable. Some things in the apartment are a bit worn, e.g. the bathroom door is starting to rot at the bottom. I was there in winter so did not use the air-con, though it looked to me like it needed a good clean. The doormen were super sweet - one of them put up lovely decorations for Lunar New Year and Valentine's Day.
Worst experience ever. Do not be fooled by the photos. They do not show the shower, but the shower head is right above the toilet so you are touching the toilet while you shower. Towels are stained and disgusting. The bathroom was incredibly dirty. Beds are like sleeping on wooden boards.
We had difficulty finding the apartment as it's was along the Ladies Market whereby we were not able to read the street names as well as most of the signboards. The Owner's sister had to meet us somewhere nearer to the apartment. The Apartment is suitable for family of 4 as its has a small toilet. The bed was rather hard and the most disappointment was there were no internet service on our 3rd day stay. Overall, its a convenient area with couple of good food around.
Hong is a very responsive host. Location is great and lively.
The house is rather small but has most functions. Would be better if it was slightly bigger and if the beds were softer.
