Comfortable and stylish basement apartment, a lovely walk away from Reed College, Eastmoreland Golf Course, Rhododendron Garden and Crystal Springs nature trail.
Apartment has a separate entrance, high ceilings, full kitchen, big screen TV, wifi, bathroom with shower, and laundry room. Owners live upstairs. We are fairly quiet, but the house is old, so you will hear creaking floorboards when we walk around.
The apartment has one bedroom with a queen size bed. Perfect for a single person or a couple.
Amenities like grocery stores, restaurants, bars, theaters, specialty shops, dry cleaning, hardware, etc., are within 1-2 miles in the Woodstock, Sellwood, and Westmoreland neighborhoods. There are bus stops throughout the neighborhood, one of them is less than a minute's walk away. Downtown Portland is less than 15 minutes drive.
We have a mini Aussie mix that is shy and insecure. She tends to bark when someone approaches the house, but subsides once she feels the coast is clear.
We are located in a beautiful, safe, upscale neighborhood. A mile long tree-lined parkway runs along the center of our street, perfect for jogging or leisurely walks.
You will have access to the back yard with lounge chairs and fire pit. Please remember to keep the gate closed.

We enjoyed our stay at Roger and Bea's clean, cozy and comfortable basement apartment. The neighborhood is very nice, feels safe, and is close to shops, stores and public transportation. The hosts were friendly, helpful and took care of a small problem immediately. We definitely would like to stay here again on our next trip to Portland.

We add our praise of this lodging to that of previous reviewers. The rooms were warm and cozy, very charming and comfortable. It's obvious that a good deal of thought and effort has gone into making a basement apartment not feel like a basement! Highly recommended. We were not able to meet the hosts, who were out of town, but they arranged for easy key pickup, and were immediately responsive via eMail to a couple of routine questions. The Reed College/Eastmoreland area is totally pleasant: a quiet, upscale neighborhood ideal for just walking around and feeling at home.
Really enjoyed my stay here, a beautiful apartment, clean, well kept with great hosts. Because the space is so self contained you are able to have privacy as much as you need, yet Roger and Bea are there to help you any time you need it! I expect to be back. David
We had a lovely stay in Portland! The home is beautiful- modern, spacious, and felt just like home. The neighborhood was close by to Portland major areas of interest. Loved the tree line street, gorgeous fall leaves. Would stay here again next time we are in town.
We split our week long trip into 2 stays at this wonderful apartment. Bea and Roger are so accommodating and thoughtful as hosts. They worked with our schedule to make it easy to stay at this gorgeous "home away from home". If you visit students or have business at Reed College, it is so close that you could walk comfortably to the campus. We loved our stay at this home, and will be sure to return when we are next visiting Portland!
Roger and Bea are thoughtful and gracious hosts. Their home is absolutely wonderful, allowing for a "home away from home" feel that was very nice to relax in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the apartment and will be sure to return!
Reed College Comfort and Style is perfect for 1 or 2 people who want the comforts of home while away. It is well equipped and appointed, very convenient to the Portland public transit system. Roger and Bea are very attentive and responsive hosts. Next time I need to stay a week in Portland, I would definitely stay with them.
This was my first time using Airbnb, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience really.
The basement apartment was very well designed, comfortable, and larger than I expected. We were in a close driving range to the city and several great restaurants, Reed College, and thrift shops were within a short walk through one of the most beautiful neighborhoods I've seen anywhere. Roger and Bea gave us privacy but still periodically checked in with us to make sure that we didn't need anything. We never actually met Bea as she was out of town for some of the time, but Roger was a great guy to talk to when we weren't being helplessly mesmerized by their adorable dog. Roger and Bea left a guide downstairs that showed how to use the TV, places nearby, etc. and we found it to be extremely helpful.
I would be thrilled if my future Airbnb experiences will be as positive as this one.
We had a wonderful stay at Roger and Bea's place, they were absolutely lovely hosts, and the apartment was artfully furnished and newly remodeled with all the amenities. The house itself is in a beautiful neighborhood, on a quiet tree-lined street within a few blocks of Reed College and a 5 minute drive to lots of cafe's restaurants and bars. We had a great time exploring Portland, it was a very quick drive all over SE and easy to get downtown. Roger and Bea were very sweet and attentive-- they greeted us and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, but at the same time left us our privacy. They also saw to little touches like leaving travel sized toiletries and plush towels that made it extra comfortable. We'll definitely look forward to staying with them in our future trips to Portland!
Comfort and style says it all. We can add welcoming, The neighborhood is quiet, great for walks among the trees and older homes with lovely gardens, near a golf course if you want to play, near stores and a variety of restaurants. Like hot dogs? Must try Ottos. We were in town to visit family and hope to be back regularly.
