  • Great location in a great city! It is a clean and cosy apartment with everything we needed. There was even tea. Good, hot shower, good heating (it was 2'C outside), cosy atmosphere with the beautiful old wooden floor. Spacious bathroom and quiet at night.
As soon as you walk out and a bit north are the nicest bars and breakfast places. Don't be afraid to enter them!
We had a great time and were happy with the location. Kino Girl left a list with bars, bike rentals and resto's and more so that came in handy too.

  • Charlotte's apartment is as advertised; small, clean, neat and functional. Most importantly, her apartment has a homey and intimate feel that made me glad to be a guest there. I would recommend that guests bring earplugs, as the neighbours held two parties in a row, and the thump-thump of the music was hard to avoid. There is no street noise whatsoever, which is great, and there is plenty of hot water for showers. Charlotte provided clean towels and bedding – much appreciated. The kitchen is well-equipped and the WiFi functioned perfectly. Communication with Charlotte, in person, was very kind and warm, yet her written style is (admittedly and consciously, she says) a bit rough. So, take her written tone with a pinch of salt, and look forward to meeting her - she’s quite a warm person :-) The area around the apartment is very Turkish / Middle Eastern. I often felt like I was back in Cairo again (I lived there 10 years ago). After three hours of walking around the area, I gave up looking for a bar that served alcohol, yet where smoking indoors was forbidden. There are wonderful bakeries nearby, and Schiller Burgers on Herrfurthstraße 7 are well worth a visit. Lastly, the easiest way from Berlin-Schonefeld Airport is not as the house manual says (November 2013) as construction work has closed stretches of the S-Bahn until summer 2014. I recommend that you buy a one-way S-Bahn ticket (under 4 EUR) from the train station at the airport, and take the next-departing (they all go in the same direction) S45 line to Neukolln, and take the next departing S-75 (direction Rathaus Spandau) and get off at Hermannplatz. This journey takes a total of about 40 minutes, and is really easy. Walking from that station to the apartment is an easy 8 minute’s walk. Here’s a (website hidden) link: (website hidden)

I must correct one thing : I don't know why Mark didn't find any bar without alcool in the area because there are a lot as it's one of the trendiest areas of Berlin, and I gave them in the announce.
    For example :
    In Selchower Strasse :
    CIRKUS LEMKE : (website hidden)
DIE LANGE NACHT : (website hidden)
    In Boddinstrasse :
DIE FRÜHPERLE : (website hidden) LOOPHOLE : (website hidden)
    In Herrfurthstrasse :
    ENGELS : (website hidden)
    In Weisestrasse :
    DER SYNDIKAT: (website hidden)
    In Reuterstrasse : (website hidden)

  • The apartment was easy to find, close to U-bahn, supermarket, shops and cafes. It is really nice and cosy, equipped with everything you may need. Great and charming place to stay, and easy access to all Berlin hotspots.

  • Staying here was great. The place is bigger than it looks in the photos, clean and warm. I enjoyed my stay and Charlotte was very helpful when I had questions. Very close to the U-Bahn and Neukolln Arcaden. It's on the third floor and very quiet. I'd definitely stay here again.

  • My experience:
I rented Charlotte's place for 4 evenings, 3 of which I did not have any warm water. At no point did she send a friend or family member over to check what was going on. She admitted that the heating element was old and needed to be replaced. She did offer the use of a shower at another apartment and a full refund after the 3rd day, all of which I have in writing.

I complained to Airbnb. At no point did I ask Charlotte or Airbnb for a refund. I did send them our email correspondence and Airbnb concluded that I was entitled to a 50% refund.

    The apartment and surrounds:
The apartment is nice, clean and well equipped and pretty much as portrayed in the pictures and mostly quiet after 11pm.

Sadly the area is a bit of a let down. Neukölln is a up and coming area, but you will still find drug dealers working out of a construction site around the corner and cruising men / rent boys and pushers in the bushes of the nearby park.

There is a very nice bar across the road and Boddinstrasse Metro station is in close walking distance.

    Response from Kino Girl:

Wynand, You're really a bad person. I never had problems like that. First of all I said that I wanted to replace the heater because I bought the apartment last year with this heater and I thought it would be an idea to replace it, despite it works, just because it looks old, but I also told you that a plumber told me it works and doesn't need to be replaced. I wrote that to you and you deform my words. It's incredible. I also proposed to send a friend to you to check the water and you were upset and sent me pictures of the tap to show me the water is cold. But on a photo, you don't show me that the water is cold ... I proposed refund in the case the water would be cold and it was not truth, you lied. We checked the water after you left, it's perfectly warm. And don't say now that water went warm again on the 4th day, this is technically impossible. So you know you lie and you do it just not to pay the rent, which is criminal. And to say bad things about the area is also really nasty from you. I wish airbnb would check better to avoid guys like you. Airbnb is made of a nice community. I rent 3 places and I even became friend with some of the renters. I did rent myself on airbnb to go in vacations. I had always nice experiences with nice people. You're a bad person and I hope airbnb will put you out of the community. Best regards, Charlotte

  • Super apartment, right next to the U-Bahn. You get everything you need in the apartment and it is decorated really nicely. Would definitely stay there again! I got good instructions from the owner from where to get the key as she wasn't there at the time and her friend was also very nice. No bad words about this place! Brilliant!
