Interaction with Guests
I am available if you need anything and happy to help, otherwise interaction is minimal.
The neighborhood is quiet and friendly with some year around residents and some part time. It is about a 10 min walk to the beach and the Beach Pantry for supplies. The close proximity to the new bridge makes getting to surrounding towns, Southport ( location of many movies), Wilmington and Shalotte convenient.
Bring a bike or rent a bike... the island has great paved back roads along the Intracoastal Waterway and all around the island. Ride to lunch or morning coffee or to enjoy the evening breeze and sunset.
There are also several taxi companies on the island.
Smoke Free home. Please keep the thermostat on with temps between 67 and 77. No house parties.
This house was in a fantastic location, very near to the beach and we loved the screened in porch! Everything was relatively clean and orderly, and we felt it was very helpful to have the map and directions provided to help us decide where to eat a few times throughout the vacation. Overall, the entire experience was absolutely spectacular, and we had a great vacation!
Our stay was overall a good experience. The location was great, not walking distance to the beach, but an easy bike or car ride. The pictures represent the place well and fit our needs for our short stay at Oak Island. The rental in the back is sectioned off by just locking an inside door from our place, but has a separate entrance in the back. The only big issue we had with the place was a bad smell coming mainly from the bedroom closet, but Liz contacted us in the middle of our stay and seems like she was going to take care of that in the future. I would recommend staying here on a short trip for 1-2 people.
Loved my visit! The house was so cute and very comfortable. Loved the quiet little neighborhood. I felt very at home and had everything I needed!
Very clean, cute place. Nothing fancy, but perfect for us as we just needed a nice place to sleep and shower while on the island for a friend's wedding. Quiet, convenient location. Liz was a great host!
The bungalow was just as described and a great place for a nice vacation. Oak Island was a great beach town and we will definitely be back. Liz was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond with any questions or issues we had.
We enjoyed our stay at the bungalow. It's just a short drive to the beach. Local restaurants and a grocery store can be found a few miles away. The bungalow had all the basic amenities for a long weekend visit, with great access for additional needs.
We had a great time and enjoyed the bungalow! It had everything we needed down to even the smallest details!
About the Host, Liz
Hi- I love Oak Island! I have lived there off and on for most of my life and every time I return it feels like home. I think you will feel that way too. It is a friendly little community that just happens to have a great beach, great restaurants, great atmosphere. I bought the bungalow in 2005 but moved back to my hometown of Boone in 2008 to become an acupuncturist. After the 6 years of school I am studying for boards!!! I find Oak Island a marvelous place to relax and to play. I hope you will enjoy staying in the Bungalow.
I love to travel and have a jar set aside that I contribute to weekly as my travel savings jar so I know my next trip is always in sight. Being a foodie and having a culinary degree from Scottsdale Culinary Institute in AZ I seek out great food, craft beer and friendly coffee shops.
