About This Listing
We've been interviewed by airbnb and Wired Magazine for being highly rated hosts.
This is a large private room with a single bed that holds ONE person ONLY in our home. We live here. It has a huge sunny window and is in the upstairs flat. The livingroom is just on the other side of the sliding doors, so you can open them up and feel like you have a suite. The bathroom is shared. The house is filled with colorful international artwork and photos, and if you ask, there are many stories behind them all. Your room has a spacious closet that is more than ample to store your things. There is a garden to sit in which is surrounded by colorful trees and visited by hummingbirds. You're welcome to use the large modern kitchen if you want to cook. We have cable tv, wireless, friendly neighbors in the downstairs flat and a sweet, friendly dog (English Setter). This has been home to 37 foreign exchange students, dozens of international travelers and many techies from famous companies.
Great area with wonderful weather, interesting shops, farmer's market, places of worship, mostly family owned vs. chain shops, local events and places to hang out. Lots of scenic walks if you want to explore the famous painted Victorians, and beautiful Dolores Park, with a gorgeous view of the city, is 4 blocks away. There are many fantastic cafes, great coffee spots and restaurants of numerous ethnicities, including at least 2 restaurants on the SF Top 100 List, within a short walk.
We're centrally located and just a few steps to public transportation. The 24th & Mission BART station is a 7-8 minute walk, and downtown is 20 minutes away by the train that stops across the street. SOMA is also 15 minutes by train. The Castro is a 10 minute walk. UCSF campuses are about 20 minutes away. The "tech" buses that go to several well-known Silicon Valley companies stops nearby. The very coolest part of the Mission District is a 10-15 minute walk. This is a safe neighborhood so you can go for walks at night. Whole Foods, a high end organic grocery with take-out food, is less than a 5 minute walk. All stores in this area are open on Sunday and all have relatively late hours.
The entire neighborhood is culturally diverse, gay friendly, full of families, happy dogs, creative type professionals and a welcoming atmosphere.
Your host is a world traveler and loves to share stories. You will feel immediately welcome.
There are two other rooms in this house that are also listed here, so please be aware that there may be 1-3 other guests while you are here. Sorry, no pets can stay or visit. We have an iron and a blow dryer and plenty of towels, so no need to bring yours!
Please see our other listings: "1907 Victorian in Cool Neighborhood" (queen bed perfect for two people), and "Cool Victorian in Cool Neighborhood" (single bed for one person.)

Marla's place was perfect, and she was a very gracious host. It is quiet, clean and convenient. City transportation runs right by the house, and you are also walking distance to great restaurants, shops and Dolores Park. I would stay here anytime!
At the end of one month trip through the states I had a 30 hour layover in SF and naturally resorted to airbnb and liked the sound of Marla's place. It was honestly the best possible end to a wonderful trip. Marla immediately made me feel right at home and gave me all the information I needed to get around quickly including helping me get to the airport. The location of her home is pretty ideal, in the gorgeous Noe neighbourhood. And her beautiful Victorian home is inviting and comfortable. It was a real San Francisco experience. I would definitely stay there again.
Marla was a fantastic host, she did everything she could to make me feel welcome. Her house is beautiful and interesting and in a fantastic area. The room was as in the photo and very clean. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. Highly recommended.
Great location, close to BART trains and Dolores Park which offers good views across the city. Marla is a very friendly host, knows SF inside out and can offer local resident's perspective on what's worth seeing. The room was comfortable and clean. There is also a very friendly dog called Billy.
she welcomed me warmly.
and she treated me with kindness and consideration.
my trip was last minute trip, so i didn't have specific plan.
but i could enjoy the good and meaningful trip with her help.
explain of lodging is correct
lodging location is really near the muni metro station. so it was so convenient.
but.. you need to check the time table to take"j" line.
one time i had to wait long time to take MUNI metro.
one more thing that i recommend was looking around near the house.
becuase that town is really neat and so pretty.
just walking make me happy.
I can only recommend Marla:) She was a fantastic host, her flat is absolutely lovely and she really made me feel at home, I wish I could have stayed longer. I was only there for 2 days and she gave me great tips to make the most of the city in a short period of time. And on the bonus side, the flat is situated in an ideal location, just next to 24th street in Noa Valley, which is a quiet, chilled yet lively neighbourhood, with plenty of little boutiques and restaurants just at your doorstep . Dolores Park is just down the road for a fantastic view of downtown SF. When I come back to SF, I know where to stay now:)
Marla thanks for being an amazing host.
Marla is a wonderfully friendly, accommodating and caring host. Her home in Noe Valley is super charming, clean and comfortable. My stay in SF was very brief, and I did not know the city beforehand. Marla helped me make the most our of my time. Staying in her home you feel like you are staying with a family member. From her place you have easy access to the city (muni train right outside). The neighborhood is very charming and colorfull.
