We've been interviewed by airbnb and Wired Magazine for being highly rated hosts.
This is a large private room with a single bed that holds ONE person in our home. It has a huge sunny window and is in the upstairs flat. The livingroom is just on the other side of the sliding doors, so you can open them up and feel like you have a suite. The bathroom is shared. The house is filled with colorful international artwork and photos, and if you ask, there are many stories behind them all. Your room has a spacious closet that is more than ample to store your things. There is a garden to sit in which is surrounded by colorful trees and visited by hummingbirds. You're welcome to use the large modern kitchen if you want to cook. We have cable tv, wireless, friendly neighbors in the downstairs flat and a sweet dog. This has been home to 37 foreign exchange students, dozens of international travelers and many techies from famous companies.
Great area with wonderful weather, interesting shops, farmer's market, places of worship, mostly family owned vs. chain shops, local events and places to hang out. Lots of scenic walks if you want to explore the famous painted Victorians, and beautiful Dolores Park, with a gorgeous view of the city, is 4 blocks away. There are many fantastic cafes, great coffee spots and restaurants of numerous ethnicities, including at least 2 restaurants on the SF Top 100 List, within a short walk.
We're centrally located and just a few steps to public transportation. The 24th & Mission BART station is a 7-8 minute walk, and downtown is 20 minutes away by the train that stops across the street. SOMA is also 15 minutes by train. The Castro is a 10 minute walk. UCSF campuses are about 20 minutes away. The "tech" buses that go to several well-known Silicon Valley companies stops nearby. The very coolest part of the Mission District is a 10-15 minute walk. This is a safe neighborhood so you can go for walks at night. Whole Foods, a high end organic grocery with take-out food, is less than a 5 minute walk. All stores in this area are open on Sunday and all have relatively late hours.
The entire neighborhood is culturally diverse, gay friendly, full of families, happy dogs, creative type professionals and a welcoming atmosphere.
Your host is a world traveler and loves to share stories. You will feel immediately welcome.

We are highly environmentally conscious, so please turn off lights when not in use. Thanks for understanding.

You are welcome to cook something light, but must provide all your own groceries and clean up the kitchen when you're done. No drinking or eating in bed. For long term stays, towels will be changed and the room will be vacuumed and lightly dusted once a week. Parking is limited in this area to 2 hours Mon-Friday unless you have a permit. Soap and towels are provided, otherwise please bring your own personal care products. Wet towels must be hung up in the bathroom and wet coats must be hung up on provided coat hooks. I stayed with Marla for 2 months and she was an exceptional host. Her house is so beautiful and located in one of the cosiest and safest neighborhoods in SF, Noe Valley.
Anything I could write would be inadequate to relay Marla's awesomeness as an Airbnb host. She immediately made me feel at home and the experience felt more like staying with your cool Aunt who happens to live in my favorite neighborhood in San Francisco. I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a central location, near The Castro and great restaurants in The Mission with quick access to the Muni (right across the street), this is the place for you.
Marla is an exceptional host. Caring, kind, and easy-going. Staying with her was relaxing. She let me have my space and, yet, was of enormous help to better my trip, when i needed a hand. She's all aces.
Her home is next door to a main muni (light rail) stop and has super easy access to the funest parts of the city. She lives in best of both worlds ville. Staying at her place saved me a ton of time and let me pack my trip with so much more fun! Noe Valley, her neighborhood, was tranquil and ready with any shops or services I needed.
Her home is super clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged for travellers. Great, restful bed. I slept like a baby. If her calendar is avail, book her now. Lovely stay. I couldn't have been happier.
Marla is a great host. Her house is lovely and the neighbourhood is amazing. Marla gave me great advises to visit some interesting spots in SF that are not that usual for tourists.
She made me feel very confortable. Her dog, Bailey, is very cute and friendly.
I really think this experience is just what an Airbnb should be, even if I am also sure that Marla and her place are one on a kind. I really had a great time and feel very lucky to find this place to enjoy the best my stay in SF.
For those of you unfamiliar with San Francisco, Marla's place is literally right around the corner from the main street of one of San Francisco's nicest neighborhoods, Noe Valley. The light rail train that goes straight through SF's "hippest" neighborhood, the Mission, and then continues onto downtown SF is literally right outside the front door making this one of the most convenient "locals" locations in the city (that is, this is not a typical tourist area. It is very much where actual San Franciscans live so if you're looking for a quintessential locals experience this is a great place to stay). As for Marla, although I only stayed a single night and was mostly out and about, I had two fairly substantial conversations with her and let me just say that she was great to talk to. She has a great perspective on a bunch of different topics and is extremely friendly and welcoming. And I'll steal this comment from her to sum up my experience at her place: when I was picking up my bag to leave, she said that it felt like we were neighbors who'd known each other for a long time and I had just stopped by for a chat. I couldn't agree more. Great host and great place to stay.
Marla was an amazing host during my stay at her place! When I arrived, the only thing I had planned was to head to San Jose for the evening. Marla helped me plan my route on the Caltrain and recommended several unique spots I could see in the Mission before I had to be at the station. Later that evening, she kept in touch and helped make sure I took the safest way back to her place. I really loved how she helped me fill in the gaps between what I had planned and what I could do in her neighborhood during my free time; it made my trip even more memorable. Her place is in a great, vibrant area and it was very convenient for me to get around. I instantly felt at home and welcomed with her and I would definitely recommend staying here!
Marla was amazing! She gave me tips on how to get around while I was in SF before I even arrived at her house and was very friendly. The room was great and she even gave me detailed suggestions for what to do with a free afternoon (I followed her advice and it was great!) I would strongly recommend staying with her!

Small family-focused home with a friendly teenage son (away at college most the year) and a medium-size, friendly mellow dog. We're into sports, movies, museums, music and cooking. We've done extensive world traveling and hosted 37 foreign exchange students. Everyone loved staying with us and we still have many worldwide friendships.
We're easy going, super friendly and welcoming, and will do whatever we can to make your stay memorable. We look forward to meeting new people, and enjoy seeing pictures of their family, where they live, and their favorite activities.
