About This Listing
We've been interviewed by airbnb and Wired Magazine for being highly rated hosts.
This is a large private room with a single bed that holds ONE person ONLY in our home. We live here. It has a huge sunny window and is in the upstairs flat. The livingroom is just on the other side of the sliding doors, so you can open them up and feel like you have a suite. The bathroom is shared. The house is filled with colorful international artwork and photos, and if you ask, there are many stories behind them all. Your room has a spacious closet that is more than ample to store your things. There is a garden to sit in which is surrounded by colorful trees and visited by hummingbirds. You're welcome to use the large modern kitchen if you want to cook. We have cable tv, wireless, friendly neighbors in the downstairs flat and a sweet, friendly dog (English Setter). This has been home to 37 foreign exchange students, dozens of international travelers and many techies from famous companies.
Great area with wonderful weather, interesting shops, farmer's market, places of worship, mostly family owned vs. chain shops, local events and places to hang out. Lots of scenic walks if you want to explore the famous painted Victorians, and beautiful Dolores Park, with a gorgeous view of the city, is 4 blocks away. There are many fantastic cafes, great coffee spots and restaurants of numerous ethnicities, including at least 2 restaurants on the SF Top 100 List, within a short walk.
We're centrally located and just a few steps to public transportation. The 24th & Mission BART station is a 7-8 minute walk, and downtown is 20 minutes away by the train that stops across the street. SOMA is also 15 minutes by train. The Castro is a 10 minute walk. UCSF campuses are about 20 minutes away. The "tech" buses that go to several well-known Silicon Valley companies stops nearby. The very coolest part of the Mission District is a 10-15 minute walk. This is a safe neighborhood so you can go for walks at night. Whole Foods, a high end organic grocery with take-out food, is less than a 5 minute walk. All stores in this area are open on Sunday and all have relatively late hours.
The entire neighborhood is culturally diverse, gay friendly, full of families, happy dogs, creative type professionals and a welcoming atmosphere.
Your host is a world traveler and loves to share stories. You will feel immediately welcome.
There are two other rooms in this house that are also listed here, so please be aware that there may be 1-3 other guests while you are here. Sorry, no pets can stay or visit. We have an iron and a blow dryer and plenty of towels, so no need to bring yours!
Please see our other listings: "1907 Victorian in Cool Neighborhood" (queen bed perfect for two people), and "Cool Victorian in Cool Neighborhood" (single bed for one person.)

I can only recommend Marla:) She was a fantastic host, her flat is absolutely lovely and she really made me feel at home, I wish I could have stayed longer. I was only there for 2 days and she gave me great tips to make the most of the city in a short period of time. And on the bonus side, the flat is situated in an ideal location, just next to 24th street in Noa Valley, which is a quiet, chilled yet lively neighbourhood, with plenty of little boutiques and restaurants just at your doorstep . Dolores Park is just down the road for a fantastic view of downtown SF. When I come back to SF, I know where to stay now:)
Marla thanks for being an amazing host.
Marla is a wonderfully friendly, accommodating and caring host. Her home in Noe Valley is super charming, clean and comfortable. My stay in SF was very brief, and I did not know the city beforehand. Marla helped me make the most our of my time. Staying in her home you feel like you are staying with a family member. From her place you have easy access to the city (muni train right outside). The neighborhood is very charming and colorfull.
Great neighbourhood and Marla was extremely helpful at helping me work out where to visit and how (thanks for rescuing me from BARTS train when I arrived late at night!). Loved San Francisico!
Marla was a great host! The room was super comfortable and her house really pleasant and bright. Ideally situated, it was a great base from which to explore the neighborhood. I felt really welcomed.
I stayed with Marla for 2 months and she was an exceptional host. Her house is so beautiful and located in one of the cosiest and safest neighborhoods in SF, Noe Valley.
Anything I could write would be inadequate to relay Marla's awesomeness as an Airbnb host. She immediately made me feel at home and the experience felt more like staying with your cool Aunt who happens to live in my favorite neighborhood in San Francisco. I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a central location, near The Castro and great restaurants in The Mission with quick access to the Muni (right across the street), this is the place for you.
Marla is an exceptional host. Caring, kind, and easy-going. Staying with her was relaxing. She let me have my space and, yet, was of enormous help to better my trip, when i needed a hand. She's all aces.
Her home is next door to a main muni (light rail) stop and has super easy access to the funest parts of the city. She lives in best of both worlds ville. Staying at her place saved me a ton of time and let me pack my trip with so much more fun! Noe Valley, her neighborhood, was tranquil and ready with any shops or services I needed.
Her home is super clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged for travellers. Great, restful bed. I slept like a baby. If her calendar is avail, book her now. Lovely stay. I couldn't have been happier.
