Interaction with Guests
We'll interact as much as you like. We respect our guests' privacy but really enjoy hosting. We are here 99% of the time but follow our guests' lead on interaction.
The neighborhood is fun and funky! People are friendly and you can't beat the location.
There's a bus route just outside the 'hood plus you can easily walk into downtown, catch a cab, or use a smart car.
Other Things to Note
You may hear the garage door go up on weekday mornings, when we have to bring the kids to school. However, we are very mindful of using the garage when we have guests upstairs.
And we like to leave the outside light on over night. You can turn it off if it bothers you, though.
* No parties.
* No smoking in the apartment. If you smoke on the balcony, please use an ashtray and empty your ashes/butts in the trash behind the garage (on the alley).
* No candles or incense.
* When you leave to go out for the day (everyday), please turn the AC/heat off or up so that's it's not running all day.
* Two guests allowed unless more were agreed upon up front. If you'd like to have additional guests overnight, we charge $25/person per night. Please arrange this with us before your guests' stay.
* Leave the place as you found it.
My family and I had a very pleasant 4-night stay at the apartment. The setting is peaceful; the apartment is impressive with many amenities. I had a few questions prior to our arrival in Austin and Amy was quite responsive. I plan to stay in the apt. on my next visit to Austin.
Amy is friendly and accommodating and was able to greet us personally. The studio apartment was cozy and met all of our needs. The bed was especially comfortable! The location was absolutely perfect for seeing all of Austin. We highly recommend but book early!
This was a new experience for us and to some extent was a gamble as we were relying on the very positive comments from previous guests. We were not disappointed and our gamble was rewarded. The descriptions provided by Amy and the positive comments from the previous guests were consistent with the experience we had. However what raised the bar for us was the generous gestures by Amy to provide for us the morning after we had arrived, English muffins, fruit and delicious jam and likewise on the morning of departure, delicious muffins . Also on the night we arrived, as it was raining Amy's husband Nick provided us with umbrellas so as we could get something to eat in nearby restaurants that were in walking distance. It was these little gestures that counted so much for us.
We were first time visitors to Austin and really enjoyed our stay at the studio! Booking and communication with Amy was great, as she was very quick to respond and informative.
The studio itself was clean and well furnished. Although we weren't there much, it was extremely comfortable and we were provided with everything we needed.
In terms of location, we had a car with us, butthe studio was extremely convenient to many of the local venues and attractions. Downtown Austin was minutes away, as were the Barton springs, and shops around Lamar and Congress.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay in Amy's studio while we were in Austin.
The communication with Amy from the time we asked about the studio's availability and up to our arrival was very prompt. Her responsiveness to our subsequent questions was most immediate and informative.
Amy's studio is very tastefully decorated with comfortable furniture and warm colors which made us feel very much at home.
The neighborhood was quiet and serene, as was Amy's studio location on their property. Having a parking space off the street was a nice plus.
The locale was convenient to coffee houses and restaurants within walking distance and downtown Austin was minutes away by car or bus (we had a car). When we were on Barton Springs Rd, the buses seemed to go by frequently.
We would stay at Amy's studio in a heartbeat if it's available the next time we come back to Austin.
We highly recommend Amy's secluded studio.
My husband and I had an amazing time in Austin while staying at Amy's garage apartment. It was in the perfect location for our trip. We easily walked to multiple restaurants/bars/shops/movie theaters in 10 minutes or less. One night we even walked downtown in under 30 minutes on the Zilker Park walking trails. We rented bikes and were able to bike to South Congress and Downtown in about 10 minutes. We stayed 3 nights and 4 days and didn't have to drive our car at all! The neighborhood was super cute and nice. Very quiet and safe for walking. Amy was so nice and welcoming and greeted us the first night we got there. She answered any questions about the area and activities we had and was always very quick to respond to any messages I sent. The garage apartment was in Amy's backyard behind the house, so it was very quiet and private. Overall this was the perfect place for us to stay, and we even saved money staying here and not at a hotel near the same location. We are already planning on future trips to Austin and would gladly book with Amy again!
Thank you for the nice review. I'm happy the apt met your expectations and I loved how you took full advantage of the location. I wish I could get out and about like that. :) I'm sorry about the roach. With the trees, it just happens, and 'tis the season. I'll have the place sprayed soon, though, so at least they die as soon as they come in.
Amy's place was perfect. Welcoming, cozy, quiet, clean, well appointed and in a terrific Barton Springs location. And Amy was a pleasure to interact with leading up to and during our stay. Walk ten minutes and you'll have access to numerous, great restaurants, a brewery and a collection of delicious food trucks. Zilker Park is just around the corner and we rented bicycles from a nearby shop and spent the day exploring. Highly recommended.
