A magical, private retreat tucked under the tree canopy where you can see and hear our gorgeous spring~fed mountain brook.

The Space

Retreat in our magical mountain brook yurt, a private and unique getaway. Come to write, read, create, connect or find stillness and silence with the our spring-fed mountain brook and the forest as your mesmerizing backdrop. Enjoy this quiet respite, under a canopy of trees, and nestle into your private getaway on the slopes of Pleasant Mountain. Make this your base for outdoor recreation and adventure, with hiking or (snowshoeing) trails right out side your door.

Our yurt sits on 33 wooded and sloped acres at the base of Pleasant Mountain. Nurture Through Nature Eco-Retreat Center offers private hiking trails, a crystal clear brook with dipping pools and granite sleuths right near by. We are surrounded by Nature Conservancy and Loon Echo Land Trust lands, forever protected from development.

The yurt is part of Maine's first green certified retreat center. Amenities include all that you need for simple cooking and meals on your own, a pull out futon couch for a couple and single bed(s) set up especially by request.

There is a new composting toilet nearby, olive oil lanterns, an outdoor fire pit, hammock and outdoor seating.

Please note there is no running water or electricity in the yurt. A seasonal outdoor shower is available at the nearby Pioneer Cabin. Also, we now have a hot shower for our guests, a hybrid system with solar, wood and propane on demand for limited, mindful usage, located a 5 minute walk away, as a private shower room in the Pioneer Cabin. YAY!

Once your booking is complete with AIRBNB, you will be given a link to our Yoga and Healing Arts Services. Feel free to add services such as private yoga, massage therapy, Maine Guide services (guided day paddle, hiking, snowshoeing). We highly recommended experiencing our sauna steam bath, Maine's most unique community sauna ($25pp). These services are based on availability and usually need to be reserved in advance.

Retreat Package includes:
*private yurt stay
*organic teas and coffee beans
*french press and tea pot
*two burner propane stove for simple and basic cooking and meal planning
*kitchen amenities; dishes, pots and pans, utensils, pot holders
*dish soap, sponge, hand sanitizer, TP
*ice chest for food storage (no ice on site)
*fire wood (for indoor fires only), newspaper, kindling, matches

*olive olive lamps and lanterns (the yurt has no electricity)
*mountain pure drinking water from our drilled well (tastes like candy!)
*nearby swanky composting toilet AKA "The Vortex"
*maps for private walking/hiking trails on 33 acres along our beautiful spring fed mountain brook and views of the nearby White Mountain National Forest
*camp chairs and camp fire ring

(We do not provide linens. Please bring your own sleeping bag, pillow or linens.)

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN OUTDOOR CAMPFIRE WOOD or gather it for free in the forest surrounding your yurt.

It's a self~check in system. We recommend coming before dark as there is minimal outdoor lighting and the yurt is tucked in the woods along a trail. We provide a map in the parking area with a lit sign. The caretaker will meet up with you on your first morning (or first evening if you arrive at a compatible time) to be sure you are all set and to see if you have any questions.

WINTER ACCESS IS BY FOOT. It's about a 5 minute walk up the access road and down the trail another 75 yards. A sled with a harness is provided. Pack in bags or backpacks. During spring, summer and fall, we recommend AWD or FWD access only. Access road is rough and steep in places. We provide garden carts to bring your gear in.

The yurt has a notebook/manual explaining how to live comfortably in the yurt.

Guest Access

Private hiking trails, spring fed mountain brook, community Healing Arts classes by donation, added services such as massage or private sauna steam bath.

Interaction with Guests

We respect our guests' privacy and after an initial meeting and orientation, we are available if something comes up. There are occasions where the hosts will not be present during your stay, and just a cell phone call away.

The Neighborhood

Rural countryside located along a quiet, well~maintained, unpaved road. Lots of trees, wildlife, and sky.

Getting around

Public transportation to and from Naples and Portland, Maine. Naples is about 20 miles east of Nurture Through Nature Retreat Center. Also, Concord Trailways bus line has a stop in Conway, NH, 20 miles west. We can pick you for our gas and a little for our time with advanced request.

Other Things to Note

Most guests ask if the cabins and yurts are private. All of our retreats are carefully located for the utmost privacy and respect for the natural lay of the land, tucked in natural openings within the forest.
We have just started a Healing Arts Collective where local practitioners come here to share their skills and practices by offering classes and workshops in our on site yoga studio. Most offerings are by donation. Feel free to enhance your experience here by enjoying yoga and other classes here.

  • We had a fantastic time at the Mountain Brook Yurt. Positioned deep in the woods near a bubbling mountain stream, the yurt well lives up to its name. We spent our time hiking, steaming in the sauna, bathing in the brook, and playing board games by candle light. I would highly recommend this experience to all who enjoy rustic living. Though, as the host recommends, be prepared to keep the mosquitoes at bay, they are no joke in the summer. Lastly, if you come, make sure to visit the emerald waterfall along the brook, I won't say anymore, but its definitely worth the hike.

  • Our stay at Maine Mountain Brook Yurt Retreat was just what we were looking for. It was a good hike into the yurt in the beautiful fresh snow and the yurt itself was cozy and warm. A perfect place to carve some time out in nature with the family. Hope to visit in the warmer months to see all this property has to offer and to take a quick dip in the neighboring brook! Thanks to our gracious hosts, you all are amazing at what you do!

  • This was the perfect getaway for a fall weekend in Maine! We loved the simplicity of the yurt (which had a lot of luxuries :)) and the quiet relaxing area. I'd highly recommend the sauna too - we went into the brook in between sessions which was quite a shock but made us feel great. Thank you, Jen!

  • What a magical place! We stayed in the Yurt, which is fully equiped and in the middle of the forest close to a wonderful brooke. The hikes were amazing, the care-taker was extremely friendly & helpful, the campfire+marshmallows at night were fabulous, the dives in the streams were chilly but refreshing and the sauna was an absolutely on-of-a-kind experience.
We enjoyed every second of it!

  • I just had the most relaxing, rejuvenating weekend staying at Jen's yurt. We absolutely loved the yurt, cooking dinner over the fire outside, using the sauna, and dipping in the stream. I can't wait to go back in the winter.

The amenities of the yurt are great, and really all that you need -- there is enough to cook and eat with, the propane stove works as well as most household stoves, and the futon is comfortable. Washing dishes is a bit of an adventure, as you have to bring water to the yurt in bucket (from the stream) -- but it's still eons easier than if you were camping.

Take time to enjoy the sauna if you go!

  • The yurt was lovely! Everything was set up when we got there, and there were instructions on everything from the wood stove to the composting toilet--very helpful! It was a close drive to great White Mountain hikes. Thank you for sharing this beautiful space!

  • We had an absolutely enchanting stay at the Nurture through Nature retreat! We seemed to have perfectly time things as we woke up to the most beautiful snow on Sunday morning. We stayed for 2 nights, and every amenity was truly perfect. The warm stove was such an enjoyable experience to sit around during dinner and while hanging out, and the trails at the retreat are perfect for snow shoeing. The propane stove was just what we needed, and we packed in the perfect amount of home made food. The brook that runs behind the yurt is beautiful, and the benches to sit and watch wonderful natural "landscapes" are plenty throughout the property. The sauna was amazing, and every tiny detail was perfectly set including the fresh, cold water from the brook ready and waiting for us inside. We'll be back very soon, to say the least! Thank you NTN!!

  • We had an amazing time here - perfect location, comfortable amenities, quiet and serene, everything we needed for a weekend getaway from the city. Jen was very helpful in making sure we had all the info and supplies we needed, and we could not have asked for more. The yurt allowed us to enjoy our beautiful, natural surroundings and live simply while still being comfortable - comfy pull out couch and cot, impressive compost toilet, propane stove, fire pit and wood stove, plenty of cooking and eating utensils. We loved hearing the brook rushing past just down the hill and had a great time experiencing the fabulous sauna - especially in conjunction with the clear and crisp dipping pools. We would love to come back again sometime to explore more of the wilderness and try the other services Jen offers - canoe tour, yoga, etc. Thanks Jen for an amazing experience!!
