Enhanced Clean
This Host committed to Airbnb's 5-step enhanced cleaning process.
Lovely house with attached shed, separate barn. In South Montville, a quiet family spot near the C.G. Fair: Living room, dining room, study and sweet eat-in kitchen; 1 BR and the bath on ground floor, 3 BR's on the 2nd. Rear screen porch, front porch. Washer, drier. Beautiful light. Nearby fields, woods, river.
Nice swimming and small boating close by in ponds and lakes.

The space
This house was built in 1843. Most of the original details and character are intact today. (But we put in electricity, running water, a bathroom - and replaced the hand pump that was in the kitchen sink!) Trues Pond and St Georges River flows along the west edge of our property. Certain weeks of the summer the Maine Fiddle Camp is held at the other end of the pond.
This is a good place to explore on foot, by bike, canoe, kayak or car. And at night the stars are bright in the open clear sky.

Where you’ll be

Montville, Maine, United States

Neighbors are varied creative and nice people. Plenty of nice people everywhere. A horse farm (serious Dressage), and a goat farm are both up the road. (Goat cheese and eggs available there.) Other neighbors include several serious organic farmers, a professional glassblower, a sculptor and other wonderful folk of all ages.

We are both free-lance artists, who met as students long ago. We share many interests including human rights, history, gardening, birds, and of course the arts...films, opera, blues, modern dance, good painting and photography. Emily has taught for many years; Will loves building and has restored several houses with Emily's help. He's also restoring old cars. (His Model T is running now.) Our family includes a daughter and her husband and their two young sons, as well as our own siblings and their families. We've stayed as guests in airbnb places in Europe, which have been terrific. We enjoy hosting too.
