About this listing
This is the family home of an artist on the famous Portobello Road and market. The road is very busy on Saturdays, but peaceful the rest of the week. (Except during the Notting Hill Carnival which is at the end of August).
I would describe my home as "shabby chic" rather than super smart, and typical of the old style of Portobello houses. It is clean, light, airy artistic and comfortable . The room has a double bed, and is large and comfortable! There is a little roof terrace garden with table and chairs, which is lovely to sit out on, on warm summer night! The apartment has wifi throughout. Please note that I have 2 lovely cats!
Portobello Road is a wonderful and friendly area, full of cafes and bars. There is always interesting shopping and browsing in the market and surrounding shops. The market takes place every weekend, and you can browse the amazing antiques stalls, or maybe pick up an vintage bargain. There are also lots of amazing food stalls, selling cuisine from every corner of the world! During the week the street is a quieter, as the market stalls have gone, however the are is still charming and bohemian. Notting Hill is packed with one off coffee shops, restaurants, boutique stores, and antique shops.
It is a half hour walk from the house to Hyde Park. Points of interest in the park include Kensington Gardens, where James Barrie wrote Peter Pan. A lovely statue of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell the fairy, the Serpentine Gallery, Speakers Corner and the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial. The park also plays host to many festivals and concerts during the summer months.
The area also benefits from great transportation links. The house is just steps from Ladbroke Grove tube station, which gives you access to the Circle Line and Hammersmith and City Line. We are also just a short walk (around 15 minutes) to Notting Hill Gate. From here you can catch the Central Line.
!. No smoking in the house, We have a roof terrace with table and chairs, and you are welcome to smoke out there,
2. No visitors. Portobello Road is full of lovely cafes and bars to meet friends in. This rule is just for protection of all in our home.
3.Not a rule. I just hope that you will comfortable here, and feel that you are staying in a home from home.
L hôte est bien gentille, totale confiance. Maison...
This apartment is in a vibrant diverse area that's close to public transport. The bars, markets and restaurants are just down the street ! (Would recommend the Thai place across the road !) The room is light, spacious and clean just as described in the photos. Julie was a kind host and has created a cosy, comfortable space in the entire house and in the room itself.
Only shared some minutes with Julie as we arrived late. She was very friendly, polite and peaceful.
The room is bigger than what we expected, very luminous and comfortable: as shown in the photos, with a comfy bed.
The neighbourhood is great.
We do recommend it!
It's a good flat. Thank you Julie
Julie is a very polite and she responded to every email. Her apartment is closed to the ladbroke grove yellow line train station, 10 minutes walking. No lift in the station. The room is in the second floor, the bathroom and toilet is in the first floor. Towel and toiletries is provided. It just looks like the picture. There is a Malaysian Restaurant just 100 m from the apartment open from 9 am to 9 pm. The location is unique, even though the portabello market is open during weekends, but several stall was open during weekdays, make the surrounding is worth to visit.
