You are surrounded by quiet—punctuated with melodic bird songs, a symphony of crickets, entertaining monkey visits, nesting parrots, toucan songs at the rising sun, and brilliantly colored butterflies fluttering all about.
“Here, we share with the neighborhood the admiration and greatest respect for the beauty of nature; and we share in its preservation,” says your host, Pierre, a Canadian naturalized in Costa Rica, who speaks fluent French, English, and Spanish (originally from Quebec, Canada). Extremely knowledgeable about the area, and living nearby , Pierre is your ‘go-to’ guy for information and help, especially if you are new to Costa Rica.

This accommodation was a gem and the photos are true to the reality.
The real gem however, is Pierre himself! He does everything in his power to tend to your needs and to ensure your stay is enjoyable and problem free. A true humanitarian.
The chalet is simple, clean and is equipped with everything you need.
In the morning you will wake up to nature's alarm clock....bird calls, squirrels rustling about in the palm trees and a splendid view of the mountains.
We would return in a heartbeat!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Garden Chalet East for 8 nights in early February. It is a wonderful, fully equipped cottage with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The views of the jungle from the chalet are breathtaking and the wrap-around deck allow for a full view of the gorgeous outdoors with a roof in case it rains. Everything about this place is beautiful. We could tell the extreme thought and care that Pierre placed into the design of the chalet for comfort and beauty with an open concept floor plan and many windows to let in the beautiful natural light. Pierre is a humble, exceptionally kind and amazing host who went well above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable during our entire stay. The location of the chalet is also great because it is close to town and near Manuel Antonio where you will find many restaurants and things to do!
Pierre was one of the most helpful hosts we have ever encountered in our years of traveling. He picked us up from the airport in Quepos, pointed out areas of interest along the route to our lodging, and offered us a ride to Manuel Antonio soon after our arrival as he was going that way. He provided fantastic tips on where to go, things to do, good places to eat, where to pick up groceries, and info on the local culture. We saw Pierre in the local grocery on our first night and he again offered us a ride back to the chalet.
The lodging itself was amazing; I am so glad we chose his chalet rather than going with something where most of the tourists go...a much more genuine experience of the area when you are able to see local culture. The grounds around Pierre's chalets are beautiful and we felt lucky to be surrounded by nature at every turn, and relaxing on the balcony in the hammock will be remembered as a highlight for years to come. The outdoor shower was so refreshing after hiking all day! My only regret is that we were not able to stay longer.
We spent three weeks in several places across Costa Rica, and this was easily the highlight of the entire trip. Pierre was an excellent host, extremely helpful and easy to contact without being a prying presence or intruding. The chalet is a little slice of paradise. The kitchen and bathroom facilities have everything you need and the outdoor shower is the perfect salve to break the heat of a sunny day.
The chalet is just outside of Quepos. You can either walk about 20 minutes into town or take a bus that stops at the bottom of the hill. We stayed at the chalet for a week, but we could have easily stayed for six months if fate would allow us. Skip the hotel and hostel scene in Manuel Antonio. You'll be a little further from the beach, sure, but the experience of staying at Pierre's chalet is something you'd be crazy to miss. I'm still dreaming about it.
Pierre is an amazing host and the garden chalet was a great retreat in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area.
The chalet is equipped with a full kitchen, bathroom, double bed and walkout porch complete with hammock! The gardens that surround the chalet are beautiful and well tended.
La Choza de Pierre is located minutes away from a bus stop that will whisk you away to Quepos town or, with a quick transfer, to the heart of Manuel Antonio.
Pierre is extremely accommodating; he picked us up amd dropped us off at the bus stop, squired us around town and the park, took us to an amazing off-the-beaten-path relaxing waterfall, and helped set up reservations for exciting adventures in the area.
Muchas gracias por todo, Pierre! Pura vida!
Pierre has created a sacred garden environment that cradels his two guest chalets. This protected peaceful space allowed me to experience the most awesome series of dreams I have ever had.
I delighted in the kitchen equipped with healthy cookware and a pleasant place to prepare my meals. And then to sit out on the expansive wrap around porch to dine as I watched and listen to the night was my desert.
We enjoyed every minute at Pierre's chalet. He has created magical tropical gardens all around it with pathways through them. Monkeys and birds visited us in the majestic palm trees which we looked upon from our deck. Pierre was extremely helpful in familiarizing us with the area. He often went out of his way to assist us. We owe him thanks for making us feel at home in CostaRica. We hope
many others can benefit from sharing his place and his friendship.
It's a very nice and famous place in the jungle. You leave in the beautiful house in the trees with monkeys. It's great! I love very much the tropical's garden. Pierre is a very good person with more interest of you.. Don't worry to go to PIerre'place because you 'll find the paradise!
My stay at Pierre’s chalet exceeded my expectations—I expected peace, beauty, comfort, and safety—and found much more. From the first day, my creative energy—which had been seriously depleted during the last difficult year—returned with the realization that I was exactly where I needed to be. After a few days, I decided to stay an additional month.
I came to Costa Rica, in part, to focus on my own writing and to express my own ideas rather than to help others make the complex clear. This place is allowing me to investigate my own creativity (in addition to shopping at local markets, cooking with the best ingredients I’ve ever seen, and being transformed by the natural wonder of the environment).
Since I had been living in downtown Los Angeles, you might assume I was prepared for the jungle. But nothing prepared me for falling in love with my chalet at first sight. My host, Pierre, is a Renaissance man with great humility and wisdom. He has total respect for the privacy of his guests, and yet manages to be generous and conscientious without ever intruding.
This is not a five-star hotel, nor could it be, for me to feel so at home.
My husband and I have travelled the world, Costa Rica being our favorite destination. When we look for accommodations, we gravitate towards peaceful settings, off the beaten track, with as natural surrounds as we can find. Pierre's chalet fit the bill to the 'T.'
Pierre is a warm and gracious host and his property is exquisite. A gifted artist when it comes to landscaping, Pierre's gardens are a Costa Rican Eden, filled with color, magnificent plants and a towering forest which cover his grounds and surround the chalet to make for a beautifully serene environment.
The chalet itself is 'cabin-style;' immaculately built, plank wood with arched ceilings and a gorgeous, covered deck that wraps around two sides of the chalet and comes complete with lounge chairs, dining table and comfortable hammock. Centered on its solid stilt base, the chalet is raised tree-top level with the surrounding forest, providing a stunning view of the jungle garden and the lush scenery beyond. Large screened windows open up to the deck and well-placed cieling fans circulate fresh air throughout the cabin. It's as if you're sleeping in your own little treehouse!
The chalet boasts a fully-stocked kitchen complete with gas stove, microwave, spacious fridge - and even an ice blender (for your fresh daiquiris!). When we arrived, our outdoor dining table had been set with a welcome gift of a large bowl fresh fruit and Pierre had provided a bag of coffee and filters for the coffee machine so that we'd have fresh coffee when we awoke the next morning. Pierre lives on the grounds and was quick to assist us with anything we needed. The chalet was spotless and cleaned daily (even the bed had fresh sheets each day!)
At night, the rain would play percussion on the jungle and cabin rooftop, that and the sounds of frogs calling and other animal song-song was a perfect lullaby with which we'd drift off to sleep. Simply heavenly.
As deeply as I fell in love with this little paradise, it wouldn't be right for me to state that it's the perfect getaway for everyone. Those who prefer A/C, room service and the white-noise of television would be sorely disappointed. The chalet's shower does have hot water, but the shower device itself is made for water conservation, so don't expect a powerful stream. The chalet is lit by energy-saving bulbs, so applying makeup or working in the kitchen may be difficult for some (although Pierre does have an extra portable light source which is very bright). There is no pool, but the beaches are a short drive away, and Pierre made arrangements for us to avail a beautiful pool at a nearby hotel whenever we felt like a swim.
Still, we couldn't have been more delighted with our romantic jungle chalet, and I feel we have made a friend for life in Pierre, who is one of the warmest, most charming people we've met. Our experience was wonderful. The chalet: private paradise!
