Merci pierre.
We loved our stay at Pierre's north chalet. The chalet is beautiful. It's completely surrounded by nature and, because it's slightly off the beaten track, it's very quiet and peaceful. You hear just jungle sounds. The chalet's huge wrap-around porch, with a hammock and seating area, is the absolute best. The beautiful garden is also quite magical. The chalet itself has two sides that open to the porch, so there's plenty of natural lighting. The chalet has a fully equipped kitchen, which is very practical.
Pierre was an exceptional and kind host. He went above and beyond! Upon arrival, he took me to several stores in Quepos to buy some basic food items. He also drove us to town several times during our stay (to the beach, to help us buy an iPad charger, and even to our next accommodation in Manuel Antonio).
Because Pierre has been living in Costa Rica for 35 years, spending time with him gave me a glimpse of the real Costa Rica.
We did not have a car, but bus and taxi service to and from the chalet is good.
If you want to be with nature, this is the place to stay.
Pierre made us feel at home even before we arrived at his chalet. We felt at ease booking with Pierre, as he was fluent in English, Spanish, and French, and had lived in Costa Rica for many years.
Being first timers to Costa Rica, feeling safe was important to us. The chalet is incredibly safe, allowing us to relax right away. The property is in a gated community, with another gate enclosing the chalets. The chalet itself then locks around the patio.
The pictures do not do this chalet justice. As with all of life's best things, you need to experience the chalet to believe it. You feel as though you are right in the forest, although you're only minutes from town; a nature lover's dream.
The chalet has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, sink, blender, coffee percolator, pots, pans, and cutlery. It was great to buy groceries and eat there. We kept all our food in the fridge and had no problems with bugs the entire week.
The bathroom is roomy with an awesome shower and heated shower head. We also loved the outdoor shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach.
The balcony around the chalet was out favourite place to unwind after adventuring. It's the perfect spot to eat, have some drinks, and watch the geckos catching their meal.
As a host Pierre was the best we have had. He arranged for us to be picked up from the bus station in Quepos and taken to the chalet. He or Jovanny drove us into Quepos many days which we greatly appreciated. He also showed us which busses to take to and from the property. The bus is incredibly easy and inexpensive and they pick up and drop off right outside the gate. We were given a tour of the local area and shown where to get groceries, go to the bank, and some recommended eating spots.
Pierre made our trip incredibly easy and was always just an email or call away if we needed.
You will certainly have an unforgettable experience with the chalet as your home base and Pierre as your host.
J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à croiser Pierre, son énergie, sa gentillesse, sa disponibilité. On se sent tout de suite à la maison !
La terrasse est immense au coeur du grand jardin tropical, idéal pour relaxer.
Porte toi bien Pierre !
Nice house and host. Everything was there in THE house. Pierre was very kind and helpfull.
Nice garden. Great veranda.
Phenomenal house, my favorite stay during our trip to Costa Rica. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer and gleaned more local info from Pierre. Also his dogs are adorable.
The house is clean, comfortable and you can see so much wildlife from the porch. Close to Quepos, Manuel Antonio, and other gorgeous beaches. I really loved it, and would highly recommend a stay here.
My boyfriend and I LOVED our stay at Pierre's Chalet. To be clear, we booked the East Chalet but ended up staying in the larger, main house. What can I say that hasn't already been said? Pierre picked us up from the Airport one rainy afternoon. He then proceeded to drive us around Quepos so we could go to the cheap grocery store, the good grocery store, the cheap bakery, the good bakery and the warned us to wait to buy produce until tomorrow when all of the vegetable stands are freshly re-stocked. The home is not brand new and therefore, a little weather-worn but it is clean and comfortable. The bed doesn't sit under a ceiling fan so we opted to sleep on the daybeds in the sitting area. It worked out great. When Pierre found out, he brought us a floor fan that we also used to keep the kitchen cool while we cooked dinner. A few tips and notes if you plan on staying in the chalet: 1. Ask Pierre about the bug repellent incense, if you are prone to mosquito bites, it will save you. Probably the best $1.00 we spent in CR. (Speaking of money, a bottle of sunscreen will set you back $16-20.00 usd in CR) 2. The Chalet is not air conditioned but there is a cross breeze. Besides, the porch is the star of the home anyway. It can get a little stuffy inside during the day during the dry season- just a heads-up. 3. The sinks do not have hot water but the shower has a heated shower head. It is not scalding hot but no one wants a scalding hot shower after a day in the sun! 4. We drank tap water every day for 7 days, it is fine and tastes great (even better with a lime). We froze bottles of it to take to the beach and the Chalet has a water pitcher to keep in the fridge. There is an ice maker but plan on buying a bag of ice unless Pierre buys bigger ice trays. 5. We hand-washed our suits and beach towels every night and by morning they were dry. Ask Pierre where to hang things so they dry the fastest. 6. There are bugs, but this is the jungle! We have never stayed in a house in CR that didn't have bugs. Do your dishes, wipe the counters and use the provided tupperware to protect food. When in doubt, put it in the refrigerator ;-) 7. Ask Pierre where to eat in town and by all means, go out for ice cream with him. He knows the best place in Quepos!!! 8. Let go, have fun, enjoy the experience. This is not the Ritz but it is authentic, charming, comfortable, affordable, completely safe and because it comes with Pierre as a host, totally unforgettable. We are hoping to be guests of Pierre's for years to come. Costa Rica is lucky to have such a...

I love Costa Rica and have spent thirty-two years living here in peace and harmony with nature. I share my living space with two old cats and three gentle boxers (dogs). I live a healthy lifestyle and and enjoy my interactions with tenants from all over the world. I have found my paradise and love sharing it with the other residents of the jungle.
