  • We only stayed at Hotelito Rolando for one night on our way through Puerto Vallarta but had a wonderful experience. The location is lovely - a quiet, chill neighborhood somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront area, but still easy to walk everywhere (but yes, there are some hills!) The rooms and bathrooms were clean, colorful, and charming, and we especially enjoyed hanging out in the common space outside overlooking the city. We never met Erica, but she was very helpful online, contacting us ahead of time and giving us advice about transportation from the airport and where to find the cheaper taxis. Overall, it was a delightful stay!

  • Great view over The City and The ocean. Very friendly atmosphere. Cosy, small hotel. In walking distance of The Beach and Malecon but you need to be able to walk and love a bit of excercise because The hotel is situated in The begikming of The Hills.

  • First of all, let me start out by sharing some of the good points of Hotelito Rolando. We felt secure there. The pool was crystal clear and we really enjoyed it. Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The view was great although neighbors are adding to their homes ( upwards) blocking some of the view which is not the fault of Hotelito Rolando but is a fact nevertheless.
I have never left a negative review but I think I would want to know these things if I were considering staying at H Rolando. The common area was very dusty and the floor by the TV actually had sand or dirt around it. I don't think that area was cleaned at all before we came nor during the five days we were there. When we brushed our hands across the couch cushions, little pieces of debris would fall on the floor. We did sit on them a couple of times to catch the news and if we forgot to straighten the pillows ourselves, the next day they would be exactly where we had left them. When we arrived neither the TV nor the Internet were working. That was remedied; however, although the host had a flat screen TV in his room, there was just a very small, old TV for the guests. We did not feel comfortable reading in the common area and our friends had difficulty reading in their room because the light is located above the fan. Therefore, as the fan went around it would cast shadows on the pages of their books. Also, the fan squeaked making it difficult to sleep. Being early October, it was still very hot and without the fan, it was also hard to sleep. My husband and I didn't have those problems and we slept just fine. Minor things were that our bedspread had quite a large hole in it at the top and I would feel much more comfortable sleeping on nice clean white sheets rather than brown leopard ones. Around the pool area, there were only 2 chaise lounges and, although the concrete couches are pictured with cushions on them, there were none. The two round tables pictured by the couches are both rotting. There is a roof top balcony where the view is beautiful and unobstructed. However, there isn't one piece of furniture up there to sit on.
I am sorry to leave such a negative report. It just seems that perhaps, being the off season, it wasn't up to the usual standards. There have been so many positive reviews that I can't imagine that Hotelito Rolando is usually like this. I hope they spruce it up so that guests can continue to enjoy coming to this place as so many seem to have in the past.

  • Granted it was off season but when we arrived the place was completely empty. It took someone 20 mins to come down and let us in. My wife went in as I stayed with the luggage in the street. She came out and refused to stay there. She said the room she was shown was not very clean looking nor was the bathroom. All in all I believe not much preparation was put into the place for our arrival.
The location was not bad for travel to town. During the higher season someone else may have better luck if they clean up.

  • Hotelito Rolando is a great find, charming and colorful and with it's multi-levels there are various places to settle yourself. The pool area is fabulous and spacious with different places to sit and great views. You can borrow books and read outside or in the expansive sitting room or lounge pool side. The views are wonderful and you can take the spiral staircase to the roof top if you desire. They take vary good care of the facility and have beautiful tropical plantings and pots to enjoy. For your convenience there is a refrigerator and cooking area you can use on the pool level. Rooms are cooled by ceiling fans.
Note: It's location is on a steep street and several blocks from downtown. If you are in good shape, no worries. Otherwise, be prepared and forewarned. My sister and I walked up and down often twice a day and we enjoyed exploring from our location in Old Town. We nearly always stopped to rest our legs and catch our breath on return. I would recommend Hotelito Rolando to anyone.

  • Very cute hotel in a great location close to the Malecon and the Districta Romantica. The room was cozy and cute, but a little unclean (sink and shower didn't seem cleaned after the last guest). Gui, our host, was super nice and very interesting to talk with about politics and his life in Puerta Vallarta. I would recommend this place and would probably stay here again if I go back to PV.

  • We had a great stay in your wonderful establishment. The upgraded accommodation were perfect with a great view. There was a serious hill but the pool made it bearable. I would definitely recommend your place to all my friends.

  • Hard to find but once we go there it was wonderful. Beautiful space.

  • The hotel is very pretty and decorated with taste. The view from the terrasse is spectacular. I was there with my one year old baby and 70 years old mom. But this is not a baby friendly place at all... We were told about the cliff to hike, but we didn't imagine how steep it was. It was very strenous to go up and down, almost dangerous with the stroller. My son got severely bitten by mosquitoes at night, even though I was told there were no mosquitoes. There were no screens on the doors. There is an outdoor kitchen to cook, but places to do grocerys are far and it takes a taxi to go. The pool is lovely but the water was very cold. We wanted to leave the first night but were not able to because of the no reimbursement policy. The price was also very high compared to a similar hotel right downtown with a garden and pool.
