Originally, I was very much excited when I viewed the images of colorful Hotelito Rolando villa. After reading some reviews, I was concerned that the hill will be too much for me, but still decided to stay at Hotelito Rolando. I was so happy I made this decision!
First of all, the room I stayed in was beautiful and had wonderful views! The room as well as all the premises were very clean. The stuff was welcoming and friendly, all my requests were addressed in professional manner and fast. The patio area is beautiful and cozy, the kitchen has everything one may need.
There were some renovations going on in the hotel, it looks like the owners and management really care and want to improve the experience of those who stay at Hotelito Rolando.
The villa itself is amazingly beautiful! Every room has its character, the common areas are cozy and designed with such charm, that I really took time to look around and enjoyed taking pictures of interior and exterior details of the building.
I actually was lucky to meet Rolando himself - the owner of the villa, who is a wonderfully charming man, excited with his ideas and ventures, and talking to him was a treat! I also enjoyed meeting Jun, the manager, who is a very interesting person with great talents.
Needless to say, that I have enjoyed my stay in Hotelito Rolando much much more than I even could have imagined! It was like I stayed with my friends. I definitely would love to visit again.
As for the hill, it's short. It took me less than 3 minutes to get from the street up to the hotel, and I can't say that I am in the most amazing shape, I also got a bit sick from cold margaritas, and still, it wasn't really hard to get up the hill.
It's a short and pleasant walk to the ocean, about 10 minutes, so the close proximity to everything was good too.
The reservation was canceled 14 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We only stayed at Hotelito Rolando for one night on our way through Puerto Vallarta but had a wonderful experience. The location is lovely - a quiet, chill neighborhood somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of the beachfront area, but still easy to walk everywhere (but yes, there are some hills!) The rooms and bathrooms were clean, colorful, and charming, and we especially enjoyed hanging out in the common space outside overlooking the city. We never met Erica, but she was very helpful online, contacting us ahead of time and giving us advice about transportation from the airport and where to find the cheaper taxis. Overall, it was a delightful stay!
Great view over The City and The ocean. Very friendly atmosphere. Cosy, small hotel. In walking distance of The Beach and Malecon but you need to be able to walk and love a bit of excercise because The hotel is situated in The begikming of The Hills.
First of all, let me start out by sharing some of the good points of Hotelito Rolando. We felt secure there. The pool was crystal clear and we really enjoyed it. Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The view was great although neighbors are adding to their homes ( upwards) blocking some of the view which is not the fault of Hotelito Rolando but is a fact nevertheless.
I have never left a negative review but I think I would want to know these things if I were considering staying at H Rolando. The common area was very dusty and the floor by the TV actually had sand or dirt around it. I don't think that area was cleaned at all before we came nor during the five days we were there. When we brushed our hands across the couch cushions, little pieces of debris would fall on the floor. We did sit on them a couple of times to catch the news and if we forgot to straighten the pillows ourselves, the next day they would be exactly where we had left them. When we arrived neither the TV nor the Internet were working. That was remedied; however, although the host had a flat screen TV in his room, there was just a very small, old TV for the guests. We did not feel comfortable reading in the common area and our friends had difficulty reading in their room because the light is located above the fan. Therefore, as the fan went around it would cast shadows on the pages of their books. Also, the fan squeaked making it difficult to sleep. Being early October, it was still very hot and without the fan, it was also hard to sleep. My husband and I didn't have those problems and we slept just fine. Minor things were that our bedspread had quite a large hole in it at the top and I would feel much more comfortable sleeping on nice clean white sheets rather than brown leopard ones. Around the pool area, there were only 2 chaise lounges and, although the concrete couches are pictured with cushions on them, there were none. The two round tables pictured by the couches are both rotting. There is a roof top balcony where the view is beautiful and unobstructed. However, there isn't one piece of furniture up there to sit on.
I am sorry to leave such a negative report. It just seems that perhaps, being the off season, it wasn't up to the usual standards. There have been so many positive reviews that I can't imagine that Hotelito Rolando is usually like this. I hope they spruce it up so that guests can continue to enjoy coming to this place as so many seem to have in the past.
Granted it was off season but when we arrived the place was completely empty. It took someone 20 mins to come down and let us in. My wife went in as I stayed with the luggage in the street. She came out and refused to stay there. She said the room she was shown was not very clean looking nor was the bathroom. All in all I believe not much preparation was put into the place for our arrival.
The location was not bad for travel to town. During the higher season someone else may have better luck if they clean up.
