About This Listing
Its an adventure to stay at Kai's Beach House! Difficult to find and hard to forget. This is the place to relax, kick back and chill out....and get away ...from it all!
Kai's beach House is made mainly of wood and has a funky "shabby chic" look! Its 10 steps to the beach from the front door and there's a full sunset show every night.
It has 3 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, (two upstairs & one stands alone in the garden), fully equipped kitchen, lounge area with huge sofa and flat screen TV for movies, small gardens back & front & a plunge pool to cool off in.
Each bedroom has a super comfy large bed, strong fan (no AC) & semi open en suite bathroom, to shower under the palm trees ...or even the stars!
You have to be adventurous to stay here! The house is on the quieter side of Gilli Air island & it's a 10 minute bicycle ride or a 15 minute walk to the main area of bars & restaurants. Part of the way is unlit at night so you need a good torch or a horse cart booking for a dinner excursion. However our cook can return in the evening ,(for a small cost) and the price of the food), to prepare dinner for you if you prefer to stay at home. There is also a beach bar / simple restaurant/ beach bungalows with WIFI two minutes walk away.
The reef allows the sea to the beach for half of the day, so sometimes its too shallow to swim in front of the house....then its time to explore the rock pools!
There are no cars, motor bikes or any form of motorised vehicles allowed on the island, but horse drawn carts / "cidomos" are available all day and can be booked in the evening, (we have telephone numbers at the house).
We provide drinking water, breakfast and beach towels & our friendly staff are ready to help you at any time of day.
We ask that you do not bring any plastic bottles or bags to leave at Kai's Beach House thanks .
Activities available on Gili Air ;_
Diving: is a main attraction on Gili Air and there are many first class dive schools on the island for all levels.
Snorkeling: You don't have to dive to see the colourful reefs and turtles ..you can stay on top and snorkel too! Masks and fins can be hired form several places on the island.
Surfing: Join the locals on the break off the SE of the island. Although the waves are nowhere are big as Kuta Lombok, they can still sometimes be surfed.
Boat Rentals: Hire a boat for the day and go island hopping with some snorkeling stops out at sea on the way. There are many local style boats for hire and fishing trips are available too. A great trip is with the glass bottom boat that guarantees you see a turtle!
Golf: The Kosaido Country Club is an 18 hole championship golf course in Lombok and is just a 15 min boat ride away from Gili Air. It's a great coarse for golfers of all levels.
Bicycle rides: Hire a bike and explore the island. There are some great little paths to find that lead you into the village. The friendly locals will help with directions, so you wont get lost!
Beach parties: Gili Trewanagan is the "party island" whilst Gili Air remains its "laid back neighbour". However there are a few beach parties & live music venues. The trunks of the palm trees act as billboards, as flyers are posted on them! So keep a look out to find out whats happening on the island.
Lombok: Trips to the much larger and very beautiful island of Lombok are available too.The stunning Sendang Gila Waterfall or traditional pottery & basket villages are popular destinations. Lombok is also home to the second highest volcano in Indonesia- Mount Rinjani and treks to the top can be organised over 2 or 3 days. Stick fighting, music and dance performances are also great attractions.
Or you can just relax and hang in the hammock at Kai's Beach House!!!
The house was perfect! We stayed there with friends, we were actually a party of 8 and while the property only sleeps 6, Wayan was very helpful in finding somewhere nearby for our other two friends to book. The living space was large and open and breezy, the bedrooms were cozy and clean and the outdoor bathrooms were beautiful. The house is right on the beach on the quiet side of the island, it was great being away from the busy side which felt quite touristy. The only downside of this spot was the tide was quite low making it difficult to swim, but we still managed to lie about in the ocean or sit in the small pool out the back. Fella's breakfasts were great and we also had her cook us dinner twice - she cooked delicious barbequed whole fish, prawns and squid and local dishes, her food was some of the best we had on the island! Andy was really helpful without being intrusive (he met us at the port and then would pop by each morning and leave us to our own devices in the afternoon) - he helped us book snorkelling trips and a day trip to Lombok mainland, and even invited us for breakfast at his family home but unfortunately a few of us were sick that day so we couldn't take him up on the offer. Because of the weather there were problems with the fastboats to Bali on the day we were leaving and ours was cancelled but he warned us about it in advance, arranged for a refund from our fastboat company and organised for us to make it to our flights via public ferry to Lombok mainland and a private car to the public ferry port to Bali, before finding out at the last minute that a couple of fastboat companies were still going and arranging us a ticket with one of them. We realised on the last day that if we ordered cocktails or food from the beach bungalows next door they would deliver them to the house, but we often just drank the bintangs that Fella and Andy kept stocked in the fridge. We had an amazing holiday and the house was one of the best things about it, I honestly can't recommend it enough!
Amaising house!!! incredibly quite, spacy, beautiful surrounding and nicely furnished. We liked sleeping with the sound of sea, loved the sunset in the bar next to the house, Fella's breakfast and dinners (tuna and squids-yummy), and of course diving&snorkeling around the island. Thanks to andy and fella for their smile and help to make it all cool!
This was our favorite stay in Indonesia. Best place on Gili Air for sure! The house is truly right on the beach with its own private beach. The views were awesome. It is super quiet and very safe. They have safes in the room and a security guard on premise at night. He was very helpful when power went out for a short time. Loved the outside showers. A housekeeper is there to make your breakfast. She was so wonderful. Have her make you a special Indonesian dinner at the house. A meal that you will never forget! Go and enjoy!
The house is just so charming and the setting is just so beautiful that nothing else matters... little discomforts like electricity going on and off, dark roads or other little things are just irrelevant when you are in such a serene and beautiful place. Of course is not a vacation for everyone...if you need AC and hate little bugs, are afraid of the dark and need 24hrs room service this is probably not the place you are looking for. This said Maria is very well organize and also thanks to her staff is very helpful and can help you more or less with anything. Definitely recommended.
