The neighborhood where our property is located is a quiet residential area, primarily owned by expats, about 1.5miles from town center. In this area are a few small restaurants and 'Colmados' - simple supermarkets where you get basic things and also sit down and have a drink. Most of the night-life, bars and restaurants are in the center of Sosua - about 2-3km, 1.5 miles or 5 driving minutes away. In the same distance there are supermarkets, banks and last but not least different beautiful sandy beaches like the main beach between Sosua Los Charamicos and Sosua El Batey with many souvenir shops, bars and restaurants where you can rent a sun-chair or just eat a delicious local meal or fresh fish...
Having a rental car or scooter would be nice and convenient , but is not absolutely essential. The main road, the town center and beaches are still within a walking distance (about 15min. to 30min.), but of course you can also call a taxi or just jump on a 'Motoconcho' - a motorbike taxi. They get you there in 5 minutes (A motochoncho for about 50.-Peso, taxi for about 300.-Peso)...
The town and beaches of CABARETE are world famous for Wind- and Kite-Surfing and only about 15km, 9.4 miles or 10-15 driving minutes away.
There is always a nice ambiance especially at night having dinner under palm trees on the beach or party and dance to local and international rhythms in one of the beach bars.
The Gregorio Luperón International Airport, also known as Puerto Plata Airport (POP) is located about 6km outside of Sosua. From or to the airport you can take a taxi for about 25.-US$. Cheaper public transportation is only available on the main road outside the airport areal.
When arriving to Sosua by bus, you can take also a taxi or motoconcho, depending on your luggage.

Everything was wonderful. The pool was great. Chris' wife Altagracia even made us a delicious Dominican breakfast and taught us how to make tostones!
We also sincerely appreciated how Chris and Altagracia guided us as we traveled from Santo Domingo to Sosua via bus (Caribe Tours). Chris even brought us to the Puerto Plata Airport when our stay was over!
My girlfriend and I spent nearly our entire stay at the nearby Cabarete beach. It was wonderful.
Some advice for guests: As Chris recommends, guests should consider renting a car. Our stay was short and we didn't rent one this time around, but next time we definitely will.
Chris and Altagracia made me feel so welcome from the very first moment I went into their fabulous house. The rooms are magnificent and you feel as if you are up in the Hollywood Hills! The gardens surrounding the house offer a truly botanical experience!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at Chris place for 5 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The room and the bathroom are big and clean, looked like in the pictures. The house is beautiful with its garden and pool area. Chris as a host was SO helpful and kind. He even picked us up at the bus station in Sosua and helped us with transportation to Puerto plata (thanks again for that!!). We recommend Chris and would gladly return!
Beautiful home, great stay, kind hospitality. Thank you Chris.
Fantastic few days in Sosua with Chris and Altagracia. Chris went beyond what was needed of him more than once, upgrading our room, showing us the sights on our first night and dropping us back at the bus stop when our taxi failed to arrive. Very comfortable accommodation and lovely breakfasts each morning.
A wonderful house with two very kind and lovable hosts, Chris and Altagracia! My room was big, with a walk-in-closet and a beautiful bathroom. Chris picked me up at the busstop in Sosua And helped me with whatever I needed. I had a lovely stay in this house, and I Would come back the next time im in Sosua :) Thank you so much, Chris and Altagracia!
Chris actually picked my boyfriend and I up from the airport, so we felt welcomed from the start. On the way home from the airport, Chris even drove us around Sosúa a bit to give us a tour of the area and then also took us to the grocery store to get some basics. We felt that was above and beyond and were very appreciative. Chris and Altagracia's home is about a 20 minute walk to the main road and we enjoyed the walk every day to and from, but taxis and motoconchos are always available to get around. The room was as pictured and we were very comfortable staying there. It was nice to come home at the end of each day to the quiet and to a refreshing dip in the pool!
