This is my second time staying at Stoney Ridge and I simply can't say enough about it! Candace and Mike are both exceptional people with big hearts who are more than generous when it comes to your comfort and your experience. Any question or request is responded to quickly. The guest suite is AMAZING - comfortable bed, fridge stocked with breakfast foods (thank you!), a beautiful rock shower, and a breathtaking view. All of this done with conservation and sustainability being the #1 priority. What more could you ask for?!
Candace was very welcoming. The spaces were beautiful and inviting, just as described. We hope to return for another retreat.
Staying with Candace at the Stoney Ridge Retreat as an absolute dream of a way to spend 24 hours. The views, the accommodations, the extra touches that Candace has clearly put into every element of her space that will impact every element of your stay, and most of all...the company are simply priceless. I truly feel like I left with a lifelong friend (or maybe a magical fairy godmother who lives in a secret garden in Central Washington.) If this listening spoke to you even before you got to the incredible reviews, you're almost certainly the sort of person who is going to thrive at Stoney Ridge.
My husband and I were craving a quick getaway from Seattle, and Stoney Ridge was the perfect spot! Nestled in the Naches wine country, this beautiful retreat sits on a hilltop surrounded by sagebrush that looks out over the vineyards. Candace was a gracious host, so friendly, and quick to respond to all of my questions. She and Bodhi (her very sweet dog) greeted us, showed us around, and made us feel instantly at home with fresh fruit, tea, and even fresh spring water! Watching the moon rise, enjoying the quiet of the evening, and breathing in the fresh air was exactly what we needed. The following day we drove what felt like all of 10 minutes before we discovered the Cowiche Canyon Trail, which was a lovely desert hike full of song birds and amazing basalt cliffs. I hope we can visit Stoney Ridge again soon!
Our hosts were charming and anticipated our needs perfectly. The views inside and out are outstanding as are the thoughtful sitting areas encouraging one to relax and take in the beauty. A warming hut perched over a hillside is one of the unique experiences available. The room is cozy with an amazing river rock shower and another view! Far enough away to feel remote but close to the highway to navigate the wine country easily. We thoroughly enjoyed the massages in the evening with the stroll back to the room.....highly recommend Stoney Ridge
I had a wonderful time at this beautiful retreat. It is a great place to experience the natural beauty of Yakima. The hostess was extremely helpful and gracious. I loved walking having the fresh fruit from their orchard right in my cottage! Candace also provided great recommendations for restaurants, wineries, and exploring the trails in the area.
What an incredible view! Candace is a gracious host who invites you to share her property during your stay. She left fresh, organic fruit in our room, grown in her own orchard. This is a quiet place to go and relax. And her dog is the friendliest, sweetest guy. Thank you Candace!
Candace & Mike Meils have lived in the northwest for over 30 years:
..Their love of this Yakima Valley which provides hiking, biking, kayaking, camping and fishing , the seasons, the abundant sun and water(!) ,, the growing of foods.......
Gave them the idea to invite other nature loving folks to come and experience this stoney ridge hilltop and it's enchantment.
For the last 5 years they have worked to create a low empact earth friendly "stay over".
"We invite kinfolk who love the outdoors, expansive views, privacy ,quiet times, their independence and others...
and being with ' what is , as it is'...
don't have a problem with a private composting toilet,
love our dog Bhodi and Mr. Kitty,
and see our hilltop expression as a creative project in process, continuing.......................
Welcome and we are looking forward to meeting you...Candace and Mike Meils
