Furnished bedroom available for rent in the wonderful Edgewater/Andersonville neighborhood Chicago. The private room is within one of Chicago's beautiful brownstone apartments on a quiet street. We are just blocks from the train and walking distance to bars, shops, restaurants and beaches. Bike/queer friendly.
More about the Apartment:
The private room includes a comfortable double bed, closet and dresser for your use. We call it the "Hotel Room" and our goal is to give you a clean room that you can as your own. The south facing window overlooks a small balcony. If you are adventurous you can climb out onto it and have a beverage or listen to the city at night. You will have access to the living room (with an appleTV and netflix) as well as the dining room, bathroom and kitchen (we are blocks from a major grocery store as well as a health food store). There is an air conditioner inside the room (summers in Chicago can get muggy, we would like you to be comfortable). You must be OK with cats and dogs. We would be happy to provide you with a towel, shampoo, conditioner and soap. We will also provide a coffee/tea right in your room. If you need anything or if we could make your stay better in some way just ask and we'll can work something out.
Just for fun- If we have some on hand we would love to offer you a home brewed beer as a thanks for your stay.
More about Transportation:
This apartment is really a gem when it comes to commuting around Chicago. Just blocks from the red line (your dirrect root to and from downtown and the "Loop") buses and right off Lakeshore Drive/Path. Commuting will be a breeze from this location. We have free street parking as well as Zipcar/IGo locations and other car rentals close by. For those who enjoy biking we offer very affordable bike rentals (10 $/day) right out of our apartment (please talk to us before your arrival so we can work out details and get an appropriate bike if needed). We hope you will take advantage of the Lakefront Trail, which is an 18 mile long path for walking, running and along the coast of Lake Michigan. The path connects various beaches and recreational amenities located along the lake front and is a main bike route away from cars.
More about the Neighborhood:
Edgewater is a lakefront community on the north side of the city of Chicago and one of Chicago's most popular north side neighborhoods known for being GLBTQ friendly and it's local shopping. Both the Edgewater and Andersonville neighborhoods are full of cafes, restaurants, bars, theaters etc. There are businesses that are certified by the neighborhoods as “green” and restaurants that offer sustainable/local food options. You will find bars with an amazing selection of beer from around the world or made right here in Chicago. Both neighborhoods have a community feel and are full of special events, farmers markets and arts festivals. Andrea and Sarah are awesome, the apartment is awesome, their pups and kitties are awesome! Close to transit and a great neighborhood, anyone hoping to spend time in Chicago but stay away from the hustle and bustle of downtown should check out this great place.
Andrea was a great host and was very accommodating to our late arrival. I would definitely recommend her place!!
I have a wonderful time staying with Andrea and Sarah! They were incredibly attentive hosts (for example, I completely forgot my phone charger when I was packing and they just so happened to have an extra one in their guest room for me to use)! The room was clean and cozy, they had great information for guests not familiar with Chicago and they have some cute puppies in their house to boot! I would highly recommend staying with them, it was great!
The place is really nice, and the neighborhood is very cozy and safe to walk around. The hosts are very friendly.
Sarah was a great host. Very kind and fun to talk to. They also have a very neat place. Very cool place in a charming Chicago neighborhood. The area is a safe and quiet residential area. I had no concerns at all walking around at night. Only about 3 blocks to a red line stop (Thorndale) so it's super easy to get to the train. Just a few blocks from the beach too, which I didn't use in October but seems like a nice asset. I enjoyed staying here as I felt a bit more immersed in Chicago instead of staying in more touristy areas. Also, definitely take a walk or ride to Andersonville less than a mile away. Great little area with some fun restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Sarah made this recommendation and it was great. Do be aware that this place is a bit of a ride from downtown (30 minutes or so on the train) but it's a good value and otherwise quite convenient and a nice place to call home in Chicago.
What fun to stay with Andrea and Sarah. We encouraged Andrea to allow the cats to have full access to us, and indeed they were happy to fill empty laps while we humans were reading in the comfy living room. We live in the country and I was worried that too much city noise would make sleep impossible. The trains just blocks away were faint and certainly not disruptive of sleep. I was surprised that the nearby beach was so inviting, and wish we had brought bathing suits. The red-line train was our main transportation, although we connected with the blue, brown, and green as needed. Easy. The neighborhood and apartment were kept in good shape, and we never felt nervous about walking around. Upon arrival to Chicago, we took the blue line and transferred to red and surfaced where Andrea instructed. She gave us keys, and again down we went to the red line which took us to the apartment. Again easy. Thanks for helping us have a great time.
The neighborhood was lovely - the home was stylish and clean - Andrea was generous and friendly - I couldn't have asked for a better Airbnb experience! Thanks!!!
Andrea and Sarah are great and very uncomplicated hosts and their apartment is perfect to explore Chicago - quiet and in a lovely neighborhood but very close to a red line station. The room was clean and so was the apartment. You should like cats when you stay there - I LOVED them!! Altogether: Absolutely recommendable.
Andrea and Sarah are really great hosts. It was comfortable and we had a perfect stay in their home. The house is in a quiet and beautiful neighborhoor with many really good bars and restaurants, bus and trainstations close to the house.
We enjoyed the stay in their house. The room is really nice and clean and there are many extras for a great time in Chicago.
Andrea and Sarah were great hosts. I am glad my first AirBnb experience was so positive. They were extremely welcoming and helpful, and seem to have taken care of every little detail, from little notes, to allergy medication, to cupcakes and tips about town. The place is wonderfully located, literally less than 5 minutes from the Red Line, and with everything from supermarkets, drugstores, restaurants, bars, banks, laundromats also within a 5 minute walk. Thanks guys for being such great hosts!
